About this property

Lakefront Spanish Colonial Home with Panoramic views of Lake Atitlan

Inspired by the architectural gems of Antigua, this lakefront home features a large central courtyard with traditional wood columns, fountain, outdoor dining room, outdoor living room with fireplace, and beautiful views of the lake. A large hand-carved door leads to a double-winged staircase, which takes you to a lower, grass-covered terrace. Below the terrace is a garden surrounded by a rustic stone wall. Outside the wall are fruit trees and a path that leads to the beach.

The house features two identical 500-square-foot, master suites. Each with wrap-around balconies and full views of the lake and Volcán San Pedro. Master bedrooms feature king-sized beds, desks, air conditioning, and flat screen TVs. Master bathrooms feature 2 wardrobes, 2 vanities, free-standing bath tubs, large marble showers with rain shower heads. Two other bedrooms have queen beds, flat screen TVs, air conditioning, wardrobes, and en suite bathrooms. One of the bedrooms features a sleeping loft with 3 twin mattresses.

There is plenty of space for relaxing and entertaining in the huge great room, which features 18-foot ceilings, leather sofas, a flat screen TV, and a fireplace. The open-concept kitchen is a chef's dream with a large central island, farm house sink, marble tile backsplash, quartz countertops, gas range, additional oven, dishwasher, over-sized built-in refrigerator and freezer. The kitchen is fully stocked and ready to use.

The house's clay roof is supported by huge wood beams in triangular construction, typical of Spanish Colonial architecture. Ceilings peak at 18 feet. Huge windows throughout flood the house with light. Handcrafted iron chandeliers hang in every room and beautifully crafted wood furniture can be found throughout the house. Fine finishes such as marble, quartz, and modern bath hardware run throughout. The house boasts the best of both worlds modern amenities in a stylish traditional setting, all within the beauty of gardens and breath-taking views of Lake Atitlan.

Awesome
We loved this house. When we got there, we were greeted by Phil, one of the owners, and by Jorge the caretaker. Both went out of their way to help us. Phil took me to town to do some grocery shopping and I felt safe leaving my family at the home. Jorge arranged a boat trip for us to do some kayaking and cliff diving. He also arranged for Maria to come and cook for us. Maria is an awesome cook. She will come and cook whatever meals that you want her to make at a very reasonable price. The house if amazing. It is a beautiful home with all the of the comforts of home and more. Definitely one of the nicest homes around. You will definitely have a relaxing time at this home. You will feel safe there and will have a lot of fun.

One of the best places I've ever stayed!
If a picture can paint a thousand words, the pictures of this place couldn't possibly paint the words you will talk about and experience in this home. The pictures absolutely do not do this place justice. We took this home because another home we were supposed to live in fell through. And I'm SO glad it did! It's like living in a dream home. I have never stayed in anything quite like this and I have travelled across the globe. The Guardian made us feel safe, taken care of, tended to ALL our needs, and had a beautiful energy about him. You will not be disappointed with this beautiful home. I promise.

This house was built in collaboration with two families. We live in the United States and have friends and family in Guatemala. The youngest in our group is five and he loves to spend time with his cousins at the lake.

Why they chose this property

We spent over three years building this house. We designed it to be everything that we wanted in a vacation house and gathering place. Even though the house is brand new, it has old world Spanish Colonial charm.
