About this property

Cosy rural gite near Malestroit

Our cosy, two bedroom cottage, La petite grange (The little barn), shares an entrance hall with another of our gites, Le grenier, and is situated in the middle of our stone longere.

The cottage can sleep up to 4 people in one double and two single beds, and like its neighbour, has an airy open-plan kitchen, dining room and lounge on the ground floor, and doors leading out to the private garden. It also features a wood-burning stove, with the first basket of logs supplied free. On the first floor, the hallway leads to one double room, a twin room, and a large family shower room.

Equally ideal for couples and small families, or groups of friends/families who may wish to book two or more of our cottages together. The three cottages can sleep a total of 14 people. Please let us know when booking if you need a cot, high chair, and baby bath (subject to availability): stairgates are provided.

Great stay in a lovely location

Alan and Mandy have put themselves into creating properties and surrounding space fit for nature lovers and those who love the french experience. Beautiful, well equipped, comfortable gites with space around to explore and watch nature. They are situated in an area that offers much of interest to all age groups. Their suggestions of places to visit, things to see etc are helpful and enhanced our stay. It is the sort of place you would consider visiting again for another "fix" of rural France.

Die Vieille Ferme ist ein wunderbarer Ort mitten in der Natur, aber nicht zu weit weg von der "Zivilisation". Die Umgebung lädt ein zum Wandern, Spazierengehen, Anschauen von lieblichen Orten etc. Die Wohnung ist in einem Top-Zustand und sehr geschackvoll und wertig eingerichtet. Das Grundstück bietet viel, natürlich auch Parkplätze direkt vor dem Haus. Die Gastgeber sind ausgesprochen nette Menschen, die man sofort gern haben muss. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder, wahrscheinlich schon nächstes Jahr.

Mandy et Alan nous ont parfaitement accueilli, très gentils et disponibles Avec même des produits locaux pour nous restaurés, petite collation toujours agréable après avoir fait de la route... et un joli bouquet champêtre sur la table, un panier de petits bois si vous désirez profiter d une flambée de cheminée....toutes ces petites attentions sont très agréables. Ideal für Gäste die dem Massentourismus entsagen.

Die Unterkunft ist ruhig gelegen und ideal für Gäste, die abseits der Touripfade etwas Erholung suchen. Sie ist absolut gepflegt, sauber und bestens ausgestattet. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Da wir relativ spät am Abend ankamen, hat uns Mandy ein Abendessen zubereitet und für das erste Frühstück war auch schon vorgesorgt. Die touristische Infrastruktur ist gut; es gibt überall beschilderte Wander- und Radwege; auf dem Kanal Nantes à Brest lässt sich prima paddeln. Die "Blumendörfer" der Gegend sind wunderschön und das Meer ist auch nur 40 Autominuten entfernt. Die Fahrräder sind etwas "pflegebedürftig", aber für eine kleine Tour ins Dorf zum Bäcker sind sie allemal gut genug. Wir können die Unterkunft nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen.

Everything about this property was utterly correct, very clean, excellent facilities, and in a beautiful and tranquil location just a short distance from many of the best tourist sights in Brittany. Très bon accueil, avec petites attentions, discrétion et disponibilité, merci à Mandy et Allan! Gîte tout confort, très joliment décoré, propre, et moderne avec du charme. Un joli jardin privatif, avec belle vue sur la campagne. Notre chat aussi s'y est senti bien aussi et je n'ai pas hésité à le laisser aller se promener! Bel environnement, vélos mis à disposition, pour ceux qui aiment la nature et le chant des oiseaux et des chouettes. Pour les commodités, Ruffiac n'est pas loin et Malestroit mérite le détour. Why they chose this property

We bought La Vieille Ferme (The Old Farmhouse) at Gayon, in 2016 - we fell in love with it immediately, and moved here with our two cats. Once a working farm, it is now a tastefully renovated traditional stone longere, and we are offering holiday breaks in Morbihan, southern Brittany. With the nearest village of Ruffiac only 2 minutes drive away, and an enjoyable 25 minute stroll, you can pop into the baker for your morning croissants, the butcher for some of their delicious local sausages, the well-stocked supermarket for any other needs, visit the church, or the two welcoming bars and the restaurant. Close to the Nantes-Brest canal for cyclists and walkers, and only 10 minutes from picturesque medieval Malestroit and La Gacilly (home of the world famous photographic exhibition), yet still close to Josselin, Rochefort-en-Terre and the wonderful coastline of the Gulf of Morbihan.
Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, somewhere to discover new exciting adventures (on land, sea or air), somewhere to relax and get away from it all, a cultural and historical trip, or just a base for cycling or hiking, then look no further. We are centrally based, surrounded by many wonderful towns and cities, theme parks, inland lakes, forests and standing stones, and yet only 45 minutes from the sea. With its own microclimate, Morbihan regularly enjoys a warmer and drier climate than the rest of Brittany.
There are also plenty of weekly markets around, not to mention the Vide Greniers - car boot sales for those after a bargain!
