LE CASTELLET - Apartment FANNY, with a surface of 90 sqm, is located at the back of the Mas du Galantin and occupies a portion built between the 17th and the 18th century. It previously gave shelter to the vineyard workers during the season. This is reflected in the pleasant distribution of the rooms, starting with the fully renovated living/dining room. The wooden structure of the roof has been kept visible just like the stone build wall.
The renovated well-equipped kitchen has a very nice view on the vineyards. In the sleeping rooms (one with a double bed and an adjacent bathroom with WC, one with two bunk beds), the simplicity of the ancient times goes well together with the vividly colored fabrics.
One of the sleeping rooms has direct access to the private 25 sqm patio-terrace where the plancha-fans will be delighted by the perfectly working installations. The large table invites the inhabitants of Fanny to gather at the terrace, whenever there is an opportunity or in the adjacent piece of garden furnished with a comfortable lounge!
Apartment Fanny as the other three units has full access to the pool, the parking and the garden.
MAS DU GALANTIN - A 16th century Vineyard Farm (Mas Provençal), not far from the superb medieval village of Le Castellet, at 10 minutes driving distance from Bandol and the beaches:
charm and authenticity in the homeland of novel writer and film maker Marcel Pagnol. We offer you to share the unique atmosphere left by our ancestors in 3 charming Provence style apartments and a historical cottage for 2-8 persons. All 4 carry names of characters from Pagnol’s “Trilogie Marseillaise” and each of them has its own personality.
They all have private shaded terraces equipped with a barbecue or a plancha grill and private entrances. They have in common: a large swimming pool (11 x 5,5 m) on a property of 2.500 sqm facing the vineyards, our house mountain "Gros Cerveau" and a large private parking. They are all equipped with free wireless internet.
A dream of peaceful and untouched surroundings, where the easiness of living and the famous «Provençal accent» cherished by Marcel Pagnol himself persist. Here, the vineyards of the world-famous Bandol and the bronze colored olive-trees are deployed as far as the eye can see.
Mas du Galantin was first mentioned in the official books in the year 1550. It has been extended subsequently over the centuries and reached its actual size in 1897. Historically the property served as vineyard farm to the vine producing domain. It was only in the beginning of the nineteen sixties that both were sold to separate owners and became “Mas du Galantin” (the historical house) and “Domaine Le Galantin” (the vineyard).
We had the chance to become the happy owners of the Mas in 2003. When visiting the first time, we fell in love with the situation, the historic building and felt very good vibes at the property.
We undertook over the years a series of renovations and created the parking and the garden. We created the 3 apartments in the main house – César (145 sqm, sleeping 8), Marius (120 sqm, sleeping 6) and Fanny (90 sqm, sleeping 4) were born. We transformed the cottage at the pool into a cozy apartment – the birth of Panisse (30 sqm, sleeping 4)
Our guests regularly confirm our impression of our first visit – the good vibes at Mas du Galantin. They appreciate the multi-family environment. Many times, we observe children making new friends during their stay at Mas du Galantin and parents having a good time together during their holidays. Many guests are coming back – the biggest compliment we can expect.

Insgesamt verbrachten wir einen ausgewogenen Urlaub im Apartment Fanny und haben den wirklich sehr schönen Pool genossen. Jedoch gab es auch Dinge die uns nicht gut gefielen und die wir bei einem Objekt in dieser Preislage und der Beschreibung so nicht erwartet haben. Das Apartment Fanny ist renovierungsbedürftig, im Bad blättert der Putz und die Sanitäranlagen riechen erheblich nach Kanalisation. Das Schlafzimmer benötigt einen neuen Anstrich, die Wände sind gerade ums Bett und am Fenster sehr fleckig. Die Böden in Bad, Schlafzimmer und Küche sind in keinem guten Zustand. Das große Wohnzimmer hingegen ist sehr angenehm, der Charme eines alten Landhauses kommt hier gut zur Geltung. Darauf angesprochen antworteten die freundlichen Vermieter dies sei Ihnen bewusst und eine Renovierung wäre für den Winter geplant, zuerst stand eben die Renovierung außen an. Der Preis würde den Zustand aber reflektieren, das sehen wir nicht so und haben in der Provence genügend Gegenbeispiele gesehen. Bei Ankunft fanden wir die Küche und insbesondere das Geschirr in einem unsauberen Zustand vor. Die Küchenschränke rochen nach altem Fett, welches tatsächlich an vielen schmierigen Tellern und Gläsern zu finden war. Wir haben also erst mal das sämtliche Kücheninventar gespült. Ebenso in keinem guten Zustand waren die Gartenmöbel, die wir von Schmutz und Spinnweben säuberten. Die dazugehörigen Polster waren zudem fleckig und stark verschlissen und sollten unbedingt ersetzt werden. Die Wohnung Matisse im selben Haus hatte saubere Möbel und Polster. Des Weiteren gab es einige wirklich große Spinnweben, z.B. im Schlafzimmer direkt über dem Bett. Insgesamt hatten wir daher den Eindruck, daß nicht sorgfältig geputzt wurde. Darauf angesprochen wurde uns von den Vermietern die Reinigung am Ende unseres Aufenthalts erlassen. Dabei erfuhren wir, daß üblicherweise die Gäste die Wohnung selbst reinigen und eine Reinigungskraft nur monatlich einmal gründlich drüber geht. Leider ist auch zu sagen, daß die Lage der Wohnung nicht optimal ist. Die Aussicht geht auf eine Hecke, ganz anders als zu vermuten bei der Beschreibung. Den ständig rauschenden Verkehr (Autobahn im Hintergrund und stark befahrene Landstraße im Vordergrund) erwartet man auch nicht im Urlaub. Dadurch ist ein morgendlicher Wecker unnötig.

Für Urlauber ohne große Ansprüche, die sich vom Autobahnlärm nicht stören lassen.
Das Anwesen sieht auf den Fotos besser aus als es ist. Es ist nicht wirklich schön gepflegt. Vor Buchung wurde uns zugesichert, dass man die in der Nähe liegende Autobahn nicht hören würde. Das stimmt nicht. Die Autobahn ist die ganze Zeit zu hören. Das ist im Urlaub sehr störend. Die Wohung Fanny ist nicht so, wie auf den Fotos wiedergegeben. Sie ist dunkel und muffig. Wenn man zur Tür reinkommt, steht man im Schlafzimmer. Die Wohnung Marius ist sehr groß, allerdings können Personen über 1,40m das Doppelschlafzimmer unter dem Dach nicht nutzen, da man dort nicht stehen kann. Im Hochsommer wird es dort unerträglich warm und stickig. Die Wohnungen waren allerdings sehr sauber und mit Waschmaschine und allem eingerichtet. Der Mietpreis ist nicht gerechtfertigt. Als Ausgangspunkt zum Meer und den Badeorten ideal.

I am originally from Provence and Mas du Galantin was my first step towards returning back to my home turfs.

What was first a hobby, became a profession with the acquisition of a second Mas in Bandol. Renovating houses is one of my passions.

Our son is another one. He is a very lively little boy and likes to visit Mas du Galantin.

What I like most about the rental business is the many encounters it allows. Meeting our guests and seeing them happy during their holidays gives me great satisfaction!

Why they chose this property

I always dreamt of owning an old Mas. Mas du Galantin is the realisation of my dream.

The renovation of the Mas took all in all about 2 years and I continuously improve the quality and the comfort of the premises. To preserve the style of Provence is very important for me.

I am a fan of gardens and put all my love into the garden of Mas du Galantin. And here again the Provence touch is important as I use only plants from our region.

From the first visit on, I felt very positive vibrations at Mas du Galantin and many of our guests confirm me this.

What makes this property unique

Mas du Galantin is a very family friendly place - a place of encounters at the crossroads of Southern Provence.

You are close to the beaches, the pulsing life and the tourist attractions but when coming back to the Mas your relaxation time starts immediately.
