Greeted by the family. The château was lovely. We enjoyed the pool and the natural surroundings with owls at night and deer in the morning. All went as hoped!

Wonderful place for family stay in Dordogne!
Don't miss out on the opportunity to stay in your own 14th century chateau! Stepping into the chateau is like stepping back into time with spiral staircases, period furniture, old wood floors, and shuttered windows. Even so, the owners have done a tremendous job bringing the chateau into the 21st century, with some comfortable modern couches and chairs, appliances, bathrooms, satellite TV, and even WiFi. The rooms, including the kitchen, are clean and well appointed with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The in ground pool is large, clean, and has plenty of pool side chairs and lounges, along with some tubes for the kids to float on. The views of the surrounding fields and woodlands are astounding, and the owners are very friendly and inviting – they even had us over for aperitif. They will love to tell you about the area and the history of the chateau. We have traveled in Europe on a number of occasions, and this is one of the best vacation rentals we've ever stayed in. We highly recommend it!
This property is located within a short drive to multiple towns. You need to be comfortable driving in France. The supermarket is 5 min away. The Dordogne river is 3 minutes away. The photos are accurate. The property is not lacking any convenience but it’s also not updated in a way some people (myself included) are used to. That was fine for us. The history and views made up for any lack in luxury. It’s stunning. We were a group of 10. Plenty of space. You have part of the house and it is large. The owners live in the other half and were almost completely out of sight. We met them when we arrived and we saw them once or twice during our stay. Each time they were gracious and kind. They gifted us an amazing homemade chocolate cake. The wifi worked well when you were close to an extension. I understand this has been an issue for prior renters. The house is old with stone walls that must be two feet thick in certain areas. I don’t think it would be possible to have a perfect internet connection 100% of the time in a building such as this. I was able to work when needed, my daughter’s iPad was able to stream Netflix and the video game system the (adult) nephews brought worked. That was enough for us. If you’re comfortable in nature, driving in France and can embrace the history of the place you’ll have a great time.

Fabulous Castle Chateau
This is a great place to relax. So much space and so elegant. Steeped in history, it exudes charm.
The whole family enjoyed our stay. Great location for exploring the Dordogne.
But nothing is perfect. The pool could have been a little warmer and the wi-fi access is difficult.
Go and you will not be disappointed if you like historical buildings and charming owners for whom nothing is too much trouble.

Beautiful building, beautiful location and great villages nearby
We had a fabulous stay at the Chateau. It is very grand and the owners were so wonderful. We had Angelique come and cook us a gorgeous dinner in the Chateau one night as well and it was all local products, really delicious.
Thank you for a fabulous stay! We loved living like Counts and Countesses for a week! Henri's wine is fab too!

A warm and welcoming stay in a beautiful chateaux
We want to thank the hosts of the chateaux, because our stay was wonderful. We could easly fit more than 9 people in this chateaux. The ambiance of the chateaux was warm and welcoming and the pool was also a great feature. The only downside to our stay was the slow internet connection.

Thank You Henri!
Henri was a wonderful host! He set us up with a wine tasting at his bother's winery and it was so much fun! The caste was beautiful. I stayed there with 10 of my friends before my wedding and we had the best time relaxing by the amazing pool. I would defiantly recommend this to a friend. We had a lovely visit.

A very magical spot
We all had a very wonderful time in the Chateau. Our host and hostess, the Count and Countess, were charming and helpful and even welcomed us with with a home made chocolate cake that was a heavenly start to a heavenly stay. The area surrounding the chateau is breathtaking and there are so many cultural and historic locations to visit the only difficulty is selecting.

Fantastic
Chateau Cardoux was a wonderful experience. The location beautiful with a 360 degree view and lovely running tracks. The medieval - 17th century walls of the castle, the large and well equipped kitchen and the nice and comfortable bedrooms. We enjoyed the pool side where we had many dinners and the generous welcoming from our hosts.
Shopping for food in the nearby village Lalinde was easy and very nice and the sorrounding area full of interesting historical and natural places.
Lovely place for a big family

Highly recommended
A lovely place to stay that more than lived up to the pictures and the description. Nicely situated for all sorts of day trips to the interesting sites in the region and always a pleasure to return "home" at the end of the day and be able to prepare dinner in the immense kitchen and enjoy it either in the kitchen, the classic dining room or even outdoors in the shade of the castle overlooking the pool and the forested hillsides.
Isolated in it's private domain, it's an incredibly calm and relaxing place to be with well maintained rooms and grounds
The owners were extremely hospitable and available to us and have an excellent knowledge of the region and had excellent advice on places to go and things to see.
Highly recommended.
