So much to like but…
This is a once a year gathering with our daughter and her family. There are three grandchildren-so needless to say, a very important time for us. First, the good. The house and gardens are beautiful, large spaces, bathrooms lovely and views panoramic. There are some nice hikes/walks nearby and convenient location to amenities. (You will need a car) There are two very sweet chickens who share eggs daily too. The not so good. I rarely write reviews less than 5 star but I feel there are things travelers need to know. King beds are not king as advertised - doubles, not even queens.A few days before the stay, we got an email with surprises. Certain items not included and would cost extra. We paid 148 for pool towels and one hairdryer for seven people. VRBO fees include two uses of sauna (for a 1 week stay!). Additional cost 10 each. However, nowhere on VRBO does it state this limitation. Kitchen is understocked with basics-had to ask for oven mits, no veggie peeler, etc.Tremendously smelly, neighboring farms (cows). At times I had to close all the window windows because the smell was so awful. Cigarette smell inside which we dislike. No forewarning or notifications of people coming and going from the property such as the pool cleaner on Monday and the gardeners for a long time on Tuesday. These things would be helpful to know in order to plan activities. Checkin host nice but does not speak English nor Spanish. Catalon and some French.
