Family Friendly Home, with a Man Cave!

Traveling with the family or taking time for yourself, you'll love coming home to this beautiful home. Three bedrooms each with their own ensuite custom marble bathroom. Just a short walk to the Makuu cliffs to watch the whales go by. The Asian inspired decor is stunning. I have collected art throughout Asia and you are sure to enjoy the many carvings and paintings. The "Man Cave" has a giant flat screen TV, pool table, dart board and more. The home is on one acre and I live in a cottage on property. The landscaped property has many fruit trees for you to "pick" from. I have bikes for your use to explore the area.
The home is located in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision. Centrally located to the airport, 20 minutes, lava flow 30 minutes and Volcano National Park 30 minutes.

This is a beautiful home sitting on a beautiful property. Very spacious, with plenty of room to spread out and relax. Wonderful porches and patio's to sit out and enjoy the day.With no AC, the house can get a little warm but cools off later in the evening.The house was nearly perfectly clean and the floors are beautiful; however, the floors need a thorough moping which I would image is due to the windows being open for airflow.We would certainly recommend this property for future stays and would stay here again ourselves.

Beautiful house for vacation and retreat

The place is located in a quiet and peaceful area. It is only about 20 minutes from Hilo. The place is amazingly beautiful and spacious. It is filled with arts the owner collecting from traveling many places in the world. The house is fully equipped for both short-term and long-term stay. The garden is beautiful with many fruit trees to admire. Highly recommend for travelers/visitors looking for quietness, peace, and nature beauty.

no air conditioning was big disappointment. It made sleep much less comforting. Even if it were only one bedroom would have been a big improvement. By last day, bugs accumulated and made jet tub look very uninviting. space was very good and kitchen was very good. Location was not accomodating for beach activities.

Amazing Place

Me and my family loved the location it was in, fruit trees on the property and very close to a local spot you can go visit that's beautiful for fishing and just relaxing at.

Great place!

Our family flew to the island for my daughter’s Graduation to UH Hilo. This was a great place stay. Plenty of room, clean and peaceful. I highly recommend this house.

Great spot for a family

Stayed 5 nights over Thanksgiving. The house is super roomy, the property is beautifully landscaped and the kids loved the pool table and darts. The beach is super close and the sunrises were amazing. This place truly is a tropical paradise!

Christmas break on the Big Island

This property was perfect!! Close enough to everything while keeping us out of the busy tourist areas. The home was clean and cozy. Howard was away for the holiday. But, left us with contact info and a binder full of his island favorites. We particularly appreciated the instructions left by him that took us to the Puna trail, which led us to a private(ish) beach. There, we got to view the sea turtles soaking up the sun. We loved staying here, and plan on returning again in there future! Mahalo Howard!!

Amazing property. Unfortunately didn’t get a chance to meet Howard, but he was around if we had needed him. A lot of love and hard work put into the house. A lot of fun adventuring around the yard looking for fruit. Zero complaints.

The Perfect Place to Relax

The rental really offered everything we needed to relax. Complete with all the amenities and plenty of space for privacy. A very unique area with a lot to offer. Being able to eat fresh fruit each morning right from the property, was a nice bonus. Do yourself a favor, choose the rental to relax. By the way, Howard has all of the toys you need for fun as well.

Great house in a beautiful location

Howard’s property is spacious with comfortable beds, updated and clean bathrooms, and a kitchen with everything you need to prepare full meals. The outdoor space is relaxing and beautiful!! Howard is a gracious host and will go out of his way to make your stay enjoyable. We had a rental car breakdown and the rental car agency was unable to help us. Howard met us where we broke down, drove us to his property, and took us to pick up a different rental car the next morning. Both Howard and his home are gems on the island!!

Keaa’u Paradise

This house was perfect for our family of 4. My kids enjoyed playing in the yard and looking for ripe fruit. We used all the fun amenities during our stay with family dart games, bike rides and pool games. The kitchen was very well stocked which made it great for cooking and eating dinner out on the deck. The house was very well kept and super clean and tidy. The drive to Hilo and volcano park was easy. Nice short bike ride to a beautiful ocean view and great whale watching spot. Icing on the cake was the little treats left for us by Howard. During our visit to Hawaii we stayed on both the Kona and Hilo side and this home blew us away and definitely made us feel like we were in paradise and would love to stay, which we did not get that same feeling from the place on the Kona side. 10/10 would recommend. Mahalo Howard!

Fruit of the gods

What a great landscape. We enjoyed Huli Huli chicken skewered with sugar cane from the property that was grilled over a charcoal pit surrounded by lava rock. We ate the land's fresh fruit (pineapple, vivie "strawberry guava", and lilikoi "passion fruit"), soaked up the sun, and caught beautiful sunrises down the street over lava cliffs. Howard told us about several beach park accesses a short ways down the road where we enjoyed snorkeling with turtles and tropical fish. The place is spacious and loaded with beautiful furniture and artwork. Great for multiple family/friend groups. There are balcony's throughout the entire place with tables and chairs. The kids enjoyed riding bikes that were provided and hanging out in the mancave downstairs playing pool and darts while catching a little TV at the same time. Howard was a great hostess. He promptly responded when we needed assistance, and was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend staying here.

We like to travel a lot and this was the best house so far. The house is amazing. Check-in was quick and easy. We were able to drop off our luggage before check in time which was very helpful. Bedrooms are very spacious. We were able to pick a lot of different fruits in the yard.

Awesome place to stay when in Hilo. Has everything you need to keep everyone entertained even when you are at the property. Billiards, dart board and basketball hoop kept the kids busy. Also, had bikes to ride to go to the beach nearby and tour the neighborhood. But the best thing about this place was that you can try the fruits from the trees in the backyard. Bananas, pineapples, strawberry guavas and passion fruits. Very delicious!Howard was a great host as he was very accommodating and answered all our questions and was very friendly when I went over to meet him. We would stay here again if we ever go back to Hilo.Mahalo plenty!

My name is Howard and I am a contractor on the Big Island. I built this home for myself and 2 sons. The house was a labor of love and did almost all the work myself. My sons are now grown and have families of their own and I felt that it was time to share my home with other travelers. I live in a cottage on the back of the property so I can give my guests privacy when they need it and assistance with questions or issues that may come up. I want to make sure your time on the Big Island is special.

Why they chose this property

This area is the "sunshine belt" of the East side. Walking distance to the ocean and some great fishing spots. Mostly its quiet and private.

What makes this property unique

Each bedroom has its own custom bath. I bought most of the tiles and cabinetry and art during my travels in Asia.
