We enjoyed 9 nights at butterhole cottage thanks to our host who thoughtfully left milk tea, coffee, biscuits, and a packet of treats for our dog. We took our 9 year old staffie away as he's terrified of fireworks. It was wonderfull and so peaceful. There wasn't any shops around but that's exactly what we wanted and it was only 13 minutes away from Dumfries in the car. We will definitely be returning. We would highly recommend this beautiful wee gem.

A lovely 3 nights with my family & our dog.
A lovely 3 nights with my family & our dog. Very comfortable, owners very friendly & thoroughly enjoyed by us all.
In a remote spot, which we wanted, lovely & peaceful.
Only criticisms (& they're not really issues) are that shower was a bit weak & temp fluctuated a bit & there was no ice cube tray! Hardly issues...!! Overall a quaint place, well equipped & very cozy. We loved it.

Fantastic location to make use of Mabie forest and surrounding area.
Fantastic location to make use of Mabie forest and surrounding area. Log burner grt and although kitchen is small it had everything you need. Could have been a bit cleaner although you are in the country so guess the odd spider to be expected! I would say it was fine for a family of 4 with 2 being kids but you would struggle in dining and couch in lounge with 4 adults. Lovely welcome treats for us and the dog which was a lovely touch

Great location, clean and comfortable.
Great location, clean and comfortable. Only down side the shower is rather small and we aren't big people. Heather redponded quickly to our request for more logs. Area is accessible, and full of wildlife.

Welcoming communications by phone before we arrived.
Welcoming communications by phone before we arrived. Milk and cakes left out for us. Lots of local tourist information.
Spacious bedrooms with comfy beds, well equipped kitchen. The only negative was a rather cramped dining area, more than made up for by a large comfy lounge. Good wifi!
Pleasant enclosed garden with open views, and pleasant walks from the front door into Mabie Forest.
Friendly hotel serving good food just a short walk away.
This cottage suited us perfectly

Fantastic location for what we wanted - biking and hiking in Mabie Forest.
Really comfy place with everything you could think of and more.
It was ideal for our party of three.
Four people might be a squeeze in the dining area.
Would definitely recommend and book again if visiting the area.
