Just 50 meters from one of the best beaches in the area. Our beach is listed as PLAYA DE MANILVA ECOLOGICAL RESERVE.
Closer to the Rock of Gibraltar than to the city of Malaga, the beaches of Manilva are partly protected as an ecological reserve. Thanks to its natural values, there is a coastal strip composed of several contiguous coves that make up a different and even idyllic enclave for those looking for calm and calm sand.
So you can see between the three beaches located in the western part of this municipality that has eight kilometers of coastline. Specifically, these are those of Chullera (50 meters away), Toro and Negro, which have the aforementioned declaration of ecological reserve since the beginning of 2012 to protect both their flora and fauna. In total, between the three they add almost three and a half kilometers in a row, in which a different beach day awaits.
Among those valuable species is the one known as the sea lily, which can be easily seen in the summer days next to the sandy beaches thanks to its abundance, but also to its correct signaling with indicative panels. This plant, which only produces seeds thanks to the cross pollination of the so-called 'hawk moth', has the most extensive meadow on the Costa del Sol on Playa del Toro. Other natural attractions of this beach are the tarages, abundant next to the streams that flow there, and the different dune systems that are more reminiscent of the Andalusian Atlantic coast than the Mediterranean.
Unbeatable environment, in a consolidated urbanization, which guarantees present and future tranquility. The beach is located opposite the urbanization, which runs along about 3 km and is 60 meters wide.
Restaurants:
Among these there are several catering establishments that offer the typical cuisine that can be expected on the beachfront, but also dishes that especially satisfy the many residents and foreign visitors that are in this area of Andalusia. Thus, in these beach bars, you can try from the typical fried 'pescaíto' or different types of seafood or mollusks to some lamb chops or a strong hamburger. Among the beach bars that usually have their doors open in summer are from east to west, Manilva Beach, Mesón Montes, El Garito de Juan, Olivar's Bar and Tubalitas. In some of them, there is even a small playground for the enjoyment of the little ones.
Visits with history
These three beaches declared as an ecological reserve, which alternate fine sands with gravel or even steep rocks, are located between two of the most important historical remains of Manilva. On the one hand, at the westernmost end awaits the one known as Torre Chullera, a fundamental beacon for the surveillance of the area at various times thanks to its location: very close to the mouth of the Guadiaro and with privileged views of the Rock of Gibraltar.
On the other hand, in the east direction, awaits the one known as Castillo de la Duquesa. This fortress was used until the 18th as part of the surveillance system. Precisely in that same century, during the reign of Carlos III, the castle of La Duquesa was built. Also known as the Sabinillas Fort, for its location next to that Manilva neighborhood, it is located several kilometers east of the mentioned Chullera tower. Currently, it houses the Municipal Archaeological Museum
