About this property
Retro 1 Bed Sleeps 4 -10 Minutes to Borough Market
Welcome to my stylish home! My retro apartment is situated in the trendy foodie area of Bermondsey, and sleeps up to 4 guests comfortably.
Bermondsey station is a 6 minute walk from the door, from which you can reach London Bridge/ Borough Market in one stop. Shoreditch and Covent Garden are accessible in under 20 minutes and so you will be well connected to the rest of the city. The area has lots of cool shops and restaurants and of course Borough Market is round the corner! Enjoy!

Hi! I am Chris and I am delighted to welcome you to my home city - London! London never sleeps and there are so many amazing places to see, eat and drink at and absorb. And my flat located in Bermondsey is a great base for your London explorations.
The flat is located a mere 6 minutes walk from Bermondsey tube station which is on the Jubilee line. I call it the tourists line because all the major stops such as Westminster (Big Ben), Green Park (Buckhingham Palace), Bond Street, Baker Street (Sherlock Holmes Madam Tussauds's), London Bridge and Waterloo (London Eye) are on the Jubilee line.
Now coming back to the flat - this is a spacious 1 bedroom on the ground floor of a purpose built building. The ground floor level is very convenient as you won't have to drag your bags up stairs!
The flat is newly decorated with a mix of modern and vintage furniture. I love buying vintage items in antique markets and on ebay and I would love to give some recommendations on where to get the best midcentury items in London.
As you can see in the pictures, the living room has a sofabed which opens into a full double bed. It is firm and comfortable for 2 adults. There is a TV and a dining table for 4 in this room.
The bedroom has a kingsize bed and a lovely storage drawer which is a vintage find. I have tried to keep the style of the house quite retro but with all the modern comforts. So both beds come with freshly ironed linens and fluffy white towels for each new guest.
The kitchen is fully equipped and I have just recently refitted it so it is brand new and shiny. Hope you like the look of it :)
I have left some basic cooking ingredients to get you started. There is also kettle, toaster, tea, coffee and sugar to cater for breakfast.
The bathroom has a shower and a tub. I provide shower gel, shampoo and toilet paper to get you started. And did I mention the white fluffy towels?!
I can also provide a baby cot and a high chair. I have left a hair dryer for the ladies!
If you need anything else just ask!
The neighbourhood
Bermondsey is one of those places which will really make a difference to your stay in London. You will truly feel like you do belong to the city.
As well as the great restaurants on the uber trendy Bermonsey Street, you will find loads of exciting art initiatives like the White Cube, the Design Museum and the Fashion and Textile Museum. We have a great picture house on Bermondsey Square, a space which changes with the seasons and which every now and then, will surprise you with live music, parties, art, a farmers market and its famous antiques market.
Another great development has been the market on Maltby Street which started with a few stalls and the excentric-in-a-good way vintage furniture shop Lassco and is now a very hype food market with excellent restaurants like St John's and the Spanish jamoneria Tozino. On Saturdays Spa Terminus market opens in the railway arches around the corner from the apartment selling everything from beautifully fresh vegetables, cheese, cured meats, bread and pastries. Definitely worth a visit.
The river enbankment is one of the most interesting parts of the whole river promenade. Just by walking along the street where the flat is you will get to London's most well-known landmark: Tower Bridge. Left from the bridge you will find Shad Thames, an interesting really cool neighbourhood which will remind you a little bit of NYC. There are some nice restaurants too, great to have an early dinner whilst enjoying the London sunset. To the right of the bridge, you will find the office of our peculiar but always fun mayor Boris Johnson and a space, More London, which is always putting up great shows and projects (exhibitions, food stalls, theatre plays, etc..) Next to the space you will find the HMS Belfast, a Royal Navy light cruiser which is now an impressive and very interesting ship museum. Next to the museum you can board boats which will take you to Greenwich, Canary Wharf to the East and Strand, the London Eye, Westminster and the Tate museum to the West.
Take a few more steps towards the West and you will find London Bridge, Southwark Cathedral and the lively Borough Market. A more adventurous stroll will take you to The Tate Modern and the Globe Theatre.
If you decide to cross the river, you will soon find yourself next to another famous landmark: Tower of London and where the crown jewels are kept. Five more minutes and you will be in the City.
The neighbourhood is quite trendy but unlike other parts of trendy London it is peaceful and quiet, and also very safe.
Bermondsey is the closest tube station and is about 5 minutes walk. It is on the Jubilee line which will take you to Waterloo and Westminster in 5-10 minutes!
