Glorious
If you are looking for a relaxing, comfortable and picturesque place for your holiday, this is the one! A family of 6-7 people is suitable as there are activities for all ages. If very old age, the hills are a little steep but there are many other things to do in the area. Highly recommend!

Lovely cottage but not suitable for any with mobility issues.
The cottage and garden were lovely and although a perfect location for us, the climb up from the quay is very steep. One or two issues. Would have been helpful to have notification when the gardener would be coming as we left many valuables in the house and it seemed clear that he had been inside (to use electricity) whilst we were out. Secondly, I emailed Dart Valley Cottages the day before bin collection because there was food remains (including fish bones) loose in the bin which was attracting bugs. The bin was emptied OK but it would have been useful to have some acknowledgement or response to my email from Dart Valley Cottages.

Another 2 weeks in glorious Dittisham
Donore is in an excellent position in the village of Dittisham. It is a very spacious house, ideal for a larger family although we love it just for the 2 of us. From the garden terrace there are fine views over Dittisham lake (part of the river). This was our 37th week of staying at Donore. However, a few things have lapsed: there was fluff on the carpet (caused by carpet mites, I believe) in the snug on the adjacent wall to the kitchen which was there last September, the large frying pan had been used and put away dirty, the oven is very dirty considering it is only a year or so old. Although probably caused by previous guests, surely the house keeper should pick this up.

Warm, well equipped cottage
We enjoyed our stay; the cottage is well placed, warm and well equipped. We had to contact customer services about a few things including a shower that did not work, a number of missing light bulbs etc. The cottage could have been cleaner in places. The beds were very comfortable.

Old
This was a charming old cottage in the village of
Dittisham. Very warm when heating was on but a shame the woodburner was for show and didn’t work. There was also
No welcome pack on arrival which we missed
Also a shame we couldn’t see the river As tall trees were in the way ! However although it’s an old property we did enjoy our week. Certainly less hectic and busy than the village can be in the summertime

A nice venue but you may need to be aware of its limitations
Not a place for tall people (low ceilings and very low units in the kitchen) or anyone faint-hearted about parking two vehicles in a smallish space accessed via a very narrow lane. The staircase is steep and very narrow and the downstairs rooms are at different levels so would be challenging to negotiate for the elderly or anyone with mobility issues. The usual equipment is all there but of such a capacity that if the place was fully occupied it would be difficult to store food, cook and serve up; we were only three so it worked pretty well. The main bathroom lacks shelving for toothbrushes, deodorants etc and a hook, or hooks, on the back of the door to hang bathrobes or dressing gowns. Also the showers are of the type where the shower head is fixed to the wall so no flexibility in directing the water flow anywhere except downwards. That said, the garden is nice with a good size terrace overlooking it with distant views of the river. I would need to include a lot of caveats if I were to recommend this cottage to others so on balance I've said I wouldn't recommend.

A comfortable spacious cottage.
A cottage that suits my wife and I. It is ideally situated to explore the South Hams or just relax in a beautiful Devon village. It is a village that is off the beaten track and has charm and luckily none of the typical seaside attractions. If visited yearly you can feel part of the village and enjoy the village life. Exploring the South Hams and south Devon coast is easy from here.
The cottage has everything that we need and is ideal if you want friends staying for a time. The garden, although it has an open aspect has views over the river Dart and a very secluded sun trap at the bottom. It is spacious and comfortable but retains the air of a 200 year old cottage.

Fantastic!!!
Just the best home to stay in for our 2020 holiday!!! Very roomy, and never been to another as clean and tidy as this one, first rate. The garden was just perfect and the smell of the lavender an added delight...parking very good. Thank you to your team and the care taken with communications in these testing times. No hesitation in booking again...

Another stay in Donore
Another very comfortable stay in Donore. The cottage is located in a very quiet location in the village which is both close to the river Dart and Dartmouth. The new cleaners have excelled in the cleanliness of the cottage and it was good to meet them. They are very friendly and extremely conscientious.
It has excellent views across the village (following the removal of 2 ash trees in the car park below) and down to the river, where the paddle steamer can often be seen. The river gives easy access to Dartmouth and Greenway (NT).

Wright and Downs Family at Donore cottage
We were a family of 6, 4 adults and two children (7 and 10 years).
We arrived in Dittisham in two cars within minutes of each other, even though we started from different locations!
Great to have 2 good parking places, and WOW, what a fantastic view greeted us, a pretty cottage looking down on the river Dart.
Opening the front door was another WOW, a huge lounge and dining room with 3 large sofas, and large dining table, with grand decorations...Another small cosy lounge , and a large kitchen diner on the first floor. We used 3 bedrooms all clean, and two with good bathroom facilities.
The weather was mixed but we had plenty of places to visit, and lovely trips on the dart.
A very grand place in a lovely setting made a very happy holiday,

A holiday venue away from the hustle and bustle of daily life
A cottage centred in the village of Dittisham in the South Hams. The cottage is spacious and very comfortable, set in its own gardens with private parking. The layout of the cottage may cause difficulties for people with disabilities. The stairs from the lounge to the kitchen level are quite high. The garden is quite steep.
The cottage is ideally placed to explore the nearby coast and interesting houses and visitor attractions. It is a place where you can become and feel part of the local community, should you so desire. Thankfully there are no amusement arcades or seaside type activities. It is all about village life and living on the river Dart.
It is cottage that I (we) have stayed in a number of times and truly hope that this can continue.
