Excellent location!
Dittisham is a quintessential English village nestling in the heart of the River Dart.
We have stayed before and adored the peacefulness and beautiful surroundings.
Orchard Cottage is located in a particular spot of beauty with stunning views.
Orchard Cottage was very practical for our three night stay, though I hasten to add could do with a spruce up in some areas.
The kitchen and bathroom being two of the rooms in particular.
Excellent parking and a wonderful garden added to our stay.
Dart Cottages as always offering excellent customer service!
Thank you!

Lovely cottage, great location
Lovely cottage, great location our second stay at Orchard Cottage. Everything for a perfect holiday apart from no useable food caddy in kitchen (only a very old disgusting unusable one in the outside bin store) I went up to the estate recycling bin store and used a large grey food caddy for the duration of our stay, which was too big to keep in the house. Also conflicting information about recycling, sign in kitchen says all to go in black bags and put in outside bin store, Dart Valley information says to separate in supplied sacks (not supplied) and take to estate bin store! Hot water supply was very slow.

Amazing
We've used dart valley cottages before and they never disappoint.
This cottage is stunning and brought back lots of childhood memories for my mum.
The cottage itself is perfect, the grounds are gorgeous and the location is ideally situated for us.
Will definitely be returning, thank you.

Orchard Cottage
Lovely week once again in Orchard Cottage - the only point we would raise is that it would be helpful to have some instructions for the TV, cooker and upstairs en-suite shower. Apart from that the cottage is ideal for a break in a lovely part of Devon.

Another fantastic stay in Ditsum
We have stayed in Orchard Cottage before and once again thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. I have been coming to Ditsum on and off for 40 years - it is a wonderful place.
Orchard Cottage has everything guests need for a pleasant stay and is in a super location.
We will be back!

Great position.
Lovely setting. House very comfortable with lovely sunny patio. Recommend the short walk to the quay and taking the boat across to Greenway House. Dartmouth a short drive, but Park & Ride provides an excellent service and is great value for money.

Wonderful stay in Dittisham
We had a lovely short break in Dittisham. The cottage was thoughtfully prepared and equipped with everything you might need. We had a comfortable stay and didn’t want for anything. It would be helpful to let guests know that the smoke alarms are sensitive to steam from the bathroom, so the bathroom door should be kept shut to avoid them being set off.

A lovely little find
It was our first time visiting Devon and we fell in love with Dittisham. Perfect for the dog and our baby. The village is amazingly quiet and peaceful. The cottage was exactly what we needed, a lovely space. Dart valley cottages went above and beyond for our needs and we felt very welcomed. The relaxing break we needed. The cottage is dated in places but was nice and clean throughout. We will definitely be considering staying here again in the future.

Beautiful Dittisham
Located at the top of the beautiful village in a small private development, this comfortable modern ‘cottage’ style property with parking made our stay easy and practical.
Great location to explore the stunning area but a solid climb back up the hill should you walk down to the wonderful local pub, The Ferry Boat Inn (FBI). However the views of the River Dart make the walk worthwhile.
Additional ‘home’ comforts such as blankets, local interest books and the odd board game would benefit the property, but these are personal preferences. It is worth noting the village community shop opens in the morning only and is a great asset, but make sure you bring some extra rations with you, just in case you want some extra choices.
We absolutely loved our stay and communication throughout was excellent.

Orchard Cottage
The property is in a great location for exploring the area. It is walking distance to a good pub and the passenger ferry to a number of locations including Dartmouth. If you have a paddleboard or canoe, don't forget to take them with you!
We really enjoyed our stay, however the instructions for the key safe are not correct on the arrival details so it did take us a while to find the key! The property would also benefit from blackout curtains in the bedrooms as in the Summer it is very light in the morning which makes it difficult to have a lie in.

Beautiful Location But Not Very Peaceful
The cottage was beautifully clean and tidy and the location is excellent for exploring the South Hams however the court was not peaceful at all during the late evening with neighbours coming in between 11pm and midnight and calling their dog loudly which is let out to poo all over the orchard which is left and not picked up (not good when children like to play out there). The building work on that property then starts at 8am with the builders arriving before that. Also the shower is very noisy and so is the shower of the adjoining cottage when used very late at night! The water pressure was very variable, sometimes good but often going to a trickle, making the shower difficult to use at all. All in all we definitely wouldn’t return to this Court.

Comfortable cottage
We were only staying a short while but really enjoyed this small but cosy and comfortable cottage. It is in a good position with lovely gardens. It’s warm and clean. The single beds are really meant for children not adults
It was a nice bolt hole for our short stay in the village

Staying at Orchard Cottage
We had a great stay at Orchard Cottage. We loved the fact that you could walk from the patio into the orchard to walk the dog and to other places on foot from the property.
The only other thing I would add is that it would be useful to have a booklet to know how to work the heating control. The one in the airing cupboard isn’t the one for the new digital control.

A bit misleading
The first problem was that the wording in the website led us to believe that the orchard behind the cottages were shared by them and that we would be able to exercise the dog there. When we arrived we found that it was part of the communal grounds belonging to the whole complex. Although there is a small courtyard attached to the property we weren’t able to close the gate properly so it was not secure. Also it was a little overgrown with bushes.
Inside the property was a little tired but very clean. Although advertised as 4 berth it would not be appropriate for 4 adults and is best suited to 2 adults and 2 children. The second bedroom was very cramped with very little storage and the mattresses were very soft and uncomfortable.
The location is lovely and within walking distance of the local pub which serves good food. Ditisham is very hilly with only one narrow road in and out but the whole area is extremely picturesque.
I would hesitate to recommend this property unless you’ve done your research.

A Lovely cottage
Our 2nd visit to this lovely dog friendly cottage, with an upgrade since our last visit a couple of years ago.
Very comfortable, nicely presented and benefitting from everything needed to make for an enjoyable holiday
The cottage was very well presented and everything was in good working order. Comfy seating in the sitting room and good king size bed in master bedroom were much appreciated. Perfect small patio with table and chairs and nice view over the lovely orchard. Easy car parking in allocated space by the front door.
2 pubs within 10 mins walking distance with the nearer one also serving as the post office and well stocked village shop
Dittisham is a picture postcard village on the River Dart

A comfortable cottage in a delightful location.
Well equipped and comfortable with a pretty patio area to enjoy when the sun shone. It was very helpful being able to park the car close by. Only one small niggle - the shower over the bath was tricky to regulate. It was either too hot or too cold!

A truly relaxing holiday
The house was lovely, very clean, all the facilities we wanted. View was peaceful and the outside seating ideal in the hot sun. Perfect place for breakfast and afternoon tea. Could see thousands of stars sparkling in the sky at night and hear birds singing in the day. Must return to Dittisham. Local pubs were welcoming and quirky and Anchorstone cafe was superb.

Wonderful stay
Property looked a little tired but was warm and comfortable.
Due to location; would have benefited from having somewhere to hang wetsuits- we didn't want to bring into the property.
The twin room could have done with some drawer spacer, however, plenty of coat hangers to hang clothes instead

Orchard Cottage
Dittisham as ever remains a very special place, having visited it about 12 times, normally in this cottage. Disappointed this year by the lack of basics... no salt, no pepper, one toilet roll between two toilets.... However, I can still recommend this cottage. Great position, easy and comfortable to get on with and has everything you need for an enjoyable break
