Podere Bargnano- delightful Tuscan farmhouse with pool, near beautiful Cetona.

We fell in love with this house the first time we saw it and visit whenever possible. Commitments in the UK mean this isn’t as often as we’d like so we are happy to be able to share the peace and charm of the house and region and hope you like it as much as we do.

Podere Bargnano is a very special house. When we were looking to buy a property in Tuscany we searched across the region with the seemingly impossible requirements of space, grounds, seclusion and those Tuscan views combined with proximity to a village or town with bars and restaurants that we could walk to. We still can’t quite believe we found all this. Even locals who visit the house are struck by the glorious panoramic views. On top of this, there are so many and varied places to visit. The nearby train station is on the major lines and the junction of the A1 motorway is about 20 minutes’ drive. Lago Trasimeno offers paddle boarding and kayaking, there is a popular antiques market in Arezzo and thermal baths a cycle ride away in San Casciano dei Bagni. Monte Amiata offers winter skiing about 45 minutes from the house. And Cetona itself, while only having around 3 thousand inhabitants, has fabulous restaurants, charming bars, a museum, delicatessen, baker, greengrocer, ironmonger and much more. Watching the world go by from a bar in the middle of the beautiful Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi is one of the simple pleasures of our holidays.

Unlike many traditional Tuscan farmhouses, Podere Bargnano benefits from large windows upstairs and fabulous arched French windows throughout the ground floor, creating an airy and welcoming feel and offering views across the surrounding countryside and up to Monte Cetona. The mature trees provide figs, pears, peaches, pomegranates and of course olives to produce our own oil. There are many traditional features in the house including the beautiful old terracotta floor tiles which are highly sought after and the cosy inglenook fireplace.
