Great flat in South Kensington

This was a wonderful flat located in a great London neighborhood. The flat is located on the 4th floor of a townhouse style building, and the building is very peaceful and quiet. Spacious living room, nice bedroom, quaint kitchen with everything one would need for a couple of weeks, and a really nice bathroom. Lots of light! The walk-up might be a bit too much for elderly or disabled guests. I would definitely rent this flat again. The location is fantastic. There are lots of convenient stores and a Tube station 5 minutes away on Gloucester Road, and the Natural History and Victoria & Albert museums are extremely close as well. It's also not a bad walk from this area to Knightsbridge, and there are also several bus stops nearby in addition to the Gloucester Road tube station.

Little gem in a fantastic neighbourhood

DESCRIPTION: old-charm apartment on the third floor (no elevator) with a lovely view of the South Kensington rooftops. It consists of a large living room (with sofa bed if need be), a small bedroom with a double bed, a kitchen nook, and a small but functional bathroom with a toilet, sink, and good-sized shower. There is no air conditioning, but the rental agency provided us with a large fan within the hour of us asking for one since we arrived in the middle of a July heat wave. Large windows make for a bright and airy space, but it was a little too bright in the bedroom in the morning for my personal taste (black-out drapes might be a good idea). The décor is basic and functional. There is a small tv with British channels. The kitchen is equipped ok in terms of appliances and utensils, but there is no dishwasher. Linens are provided, as are small soaps and little bottles of shampoo and shower gel. Everything was very clean. ARRIVAL: the agency’s contact person met us in front of the apartment to give us the keys and a quick tour. Asking questions from home and on-site was always quick and easy. WIFI: free and worked well. LOCATION: this apartment is quite central. It’s located in South Kensington and the Gloucester Road Tube stop is only 5 minutes away on foot. The area is served by three of the main Tube lines (District, Central, and Piccadilly), as well as many buses. You can reach the apartment directly from Heathrow airport by Tube in roughly 45 minutes. We found it extremely easy to reach any destination in the city centre within ½ hour or less. NEIGHBOURHOOD: the neighborhood is absolutely charming with its rows upon rows of white houses. It is an upscale part of town for sure. There are many pubs and restaurants nearby. The supermarket (Waitrose) is right at the Gloucester Road Tube stop and there’s also a 24h convenience store nearby (Tesco, across the street from Waitrose). We never heard our neighbours, but we found the window panes a little “thin” so you would always hear cars going by at night. Thankfully, this isn’t a very busy street. Finally, we always felt very safe in this area, even at night. I do recommend this apartment. Thank you for making it available, theatre compatriots!

Love the location and bathroom

The only challenge that we had with this property is that we are tall people. My husband is 6’8 and I am 5’9. The bed in the room is only a double and my husbands feet stuck out over a foot. The only way we could stay was for me to be on the sofa sleeper so he could sleep diagonally. I do think that it’s important to state the size of the bed as we would have had to cancel and go to a hotel instead. Otherwise it was a fantastic location and we enjoyed the flat.

Great small flat in a desirable location

The flat is attractively furnished and in a desirable location a ten-minute walk from two underground stations, a supermarket and numerous restaurants and pubs. As mentioned by other guests, the 62 stairs to the flat may be daunting to some. The bathroom has been nicely remodeled with lots of shelf/storage space which is not always true in rental flats. The bedroom has a double bed, two large closets and two nightstands. The bed could use a new mattress. The M2 staff was very accommodating regarding check-in and responsive to the one initial problem we had.

Lovely London flat!

An excellent place for our week in London. I would have given four and a half stars if I could. The only reason not to give 5 stars is that this flat is up 5 flights of stairs, which could be a struggle after a long day out in the city. Bright, cosy, clean, comfy sofa, convenient kitchen, everything we needed.

Excellent location, very quiet apt.

The apt. was fully supplied with everything needed for a short, comfortable stay. Clean, very quiet at night, location close to bus and tube stations, stores nearby, etc. We were very pleased. Also, the management was very responsive which helps a great deal.

Just what we needed!

We were in London for a week for a bit of business and fun. This flat is ideal for the two of us. The living space is just right, the kitchen served our needs extremely well and the bathroom is updated and very nice. The bedroom is small but completely adequate for two people. We are in our 40s-50s and had no trouble with the stairs (third floor walk-up), but I can imagine that people who have trouble with stairs might want to seek other places. That said, we found this flat top notch! Will stay there again, for sure.

Great property in a great location!

We loved our South Kensington flat. The location was perfect, right between 2 tube stations with so many great restaurants, shops, pubs, etc all within just a block or two. The flat itself was lovely, we felt like we were experiencing the real London and couldn’t have been more thrilled with our choice. The flat had great character with a modern bathroom and was very comfortable and clean. We loved it and hope to return again some day!

A perfect place for a stay in London

This apartment was a perfect place to stay for my 10 days in London. i really settled in and made myself at home. Everything I needed was close by. A wonderful market a few blocks away, lots of resturants and shops and near two underground stations. I even found a yoga studio few blocks away. The apartment is nicely appointed with mostly comfortable furniture. Nice bathroom and comfortable bed. There was a well- equipped kitchen although the cook top did not work so that was a problem. There are a lot of steps to the third floor which was not a bother for me but would be for someone who has trouble getting up and down stairs. The location was great. it is a fifteen minute walk to Kennsington Park and Palace. Also walking distance to Knightsbridge and its shopping areas. Probably too near! I will certainly stay here on my next trip to London. Can't imagine staying in a hotel or in any other area of London. I was by myself but felt very safe walking around the area in the evening. Wonderful place to stay in London

Always a great stay here (have stayed here several times). Perfect location in South Kensington. Very cozy, and everything one would need for a few days or a couple of weeks. Beats the nearby boutique hotel I once stayed in by miles! Wonderful kitchen and bathroom, and great bedroom with generous closet space. Tons of light! I can't recommend this flat enough.

Wonderful location!!!!

Opening the door to this bright , airy apartment was delightful, after a long day of travel. We immediately felt like we were "home". Comfortably furnished, it provided us with a respite after long days of sightseeing. We cooked in the small but totally efficient kitchen which was supplied with everything one needs and slept soundly in the comfortable bed and quiet location. Close to the underground, which we used often, and within walking distance to Kensington Park, this apartment is IDEAL for sightseeing forays!!! We hated to leave!!! Working with the property manager, Melissa, was a total delight..she made sure everything was in order and that our stay was comfortable. A TERRIFIC bonus, for sure!!!

Perfect apartment in heart of London!

We are a couple over sixty and are very satisfied with our choice of this lovely apartment in the heart of London for our trip. Even the stairs couldn't disturb it. The place is nice, clean, well located and the contact with Clarissa was wonderful. The property is perfect for two people who want to enjoy of London's sightseeings. We will truly recommend it to all our friends! Sonia & Emil Nikov Bulgaria

Sonia & Emil were lovely guests. They were not only polite, tidy and respectful, but also had the kindest smile on their faces at all times. It was an absolute pleasure having them as guests and we are looking forward to accommodating them again very soon. Very best wishes, Clarissa (M2 Property)

Great flat and location

This Kensington location flat was a wonderful place to stay - close to two tube stops, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. It was nicely appointed with everything you could want in a flat. There are a few things to be aware of, however: there is no a/c and no cross ventilation, but I asked for a fan and one was produced right away. Also, be prepared to walk up 62 stairs each time you return to the flat! But all in all, I would highly recommend the unit and would definitely return there myself.

Awesome

Great location, only a few minutes walk from the Gloucester road tube station. Lovely and clean. The property was described well, so there was nothing unexpected.Close to supermarkets, pubs, restaurants and museums.Welcomed by Elliot. We were given good information about the property and nearby facilities. It was great to have a 'home' for a week, as we had been travelling for the 3 weeks prior, staying in hotels. Great to have a washing machine! I would definitely stay again, and will recommend it to family and friends. Thanks.

Cozy flat in South Kensington

We stayed at Cranley Gardens for a week and found it clean, bright (the mirrored wall is a nice touch) and well appointed. Walking distance to both the Grosvenor Street and South Kensington Tube stations, with many good restaurants nearby. The stairs gave me pause but I conquered them after a couple of trips up and down. The bed was very comfortable - the rain shower was lovely! If I may make a suggestion, a full-length mirror behind the bedroom door would be most useful. London is a vibrant, lively yet stately city and I look forward to my next visit.

Nice, comfortable, small (by USA viewpoint)

Location is excellent. 10 min walk from underground where 3 main line intersect. On the way there is couple of shops to get some food. Quiet and safe neighborhood. Apartment has all what it promised. It was clean and well maintained. Our family (2 adults and 1 child) fit in there. But I wouldn’t recommend it for larger groups. Rooms are small. If you have problems climbing stairs or are TV watching person – it isn’t for you. It was easy to work with managing company. They were receptive to our needs and accommodative. Overall our stay was excellent and it was great vacation.

Nice Apartment But 4 floors up

This was a nice apartment in a very quiet neighborhood. Be aware that the flat was on the fourth floor and was quite a climb each day. Well appointed with all the essentials. Internet access is available but not included and you must pay for access. Clothes dryer was mentioned but it is not a regular tumble dryer. Had to hang clothes to dry. Good choice for a visit to London.
Response from VrboOwner on 16 March 2020
Thanks for your feedback. We have now installed wireless internet included in the price (prior to this we gave guests a mobile dongle). The apartment is a walk-up several flights of stairs (but at least it's quiet up there!) and we do advise our guests of the walk-up.
