Petra Dome Santorini - Cycladic House

Petra Dome is a spacious authentic Cycladic house of 100 square meters with a 80 square meters private yard. Is located in the heart of the traditional village of Karterados, only 2 km away from Fira. It consists of two bedrooms, one with a double bed and an attic type one with two single beds, a large living and dining room (with an optional folding-out bed), fully equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms (one in a separate dome in the yard available for more than 2 guests).
The guests have the exclusive use of the property.

A few words about the building

Petra Dome is one of the first houses build in the village dated back at the end of 18th century. The main house is a 5 meters tall Dome build of volcanic lava rocks, which in Greek is called "Petra", from which the name "Petra Dome" originates.
The house has been totally renovated and refurnished in 2019, with great respect to the local Architecture. Some of the original Cycladic furnitures of the residence were restored and are still in use, allowing the guests to experience contemporary minimalism with a touch of tradition.
It is a fact that such authentic Santorini buildings, made of thick walls which support the dome, provide great heat insulation to the house at all seasons. In combination with the natural ventilation airways results to a "bioclimatic" house, that is one which is naturally cool during the summer.
In the yard there are areas where some local plants are grown, such as the famous cherry tomatoes and the white eggplant, as well as basil, oregano, rosemary, mint e.c.t. all growing under the Mediterranean sun.
Our aim as hosts is to provide our guests the experience of living in a authentic Cycladic house, which meets the luxury standards of the 21st century.
