The caretaker Kattie lives on walking distance of the house and is always available for travel tips and solving practical problems.

The zone is flat, but has a view of the central high mountains of Costa Rica and even a bit of the Arenal Volcano.

The house is 300 meters from the village of Santa Fe, where there are some small grocers, and 20 minutes by car from the town of Aguas Zarcas where there are supermarkets, banks, ATMs and pharmacies.

The San Carlos region is Costa Rica's most important agricultural and livestock farming area: dairy cattle, sugar cane, pineapple, root crops. The proximity of the volcanic high mountains means that an abundance of nature can be enjoyed: hot water baths, rivers, waterfalls, wetlands and tropical vegetation.
