This 3-double bedroom, 2-bathroom London home offers flexible sleeping arrangements, two cozy living rooms, a home office, fast WiFi, and everything you need for a comfortable stay. All bedrooms have REAL beds with memory foam mattresses -- no sofa beds or Murphy beds -- for excellent rest and sleep.

Second living area means everyone gets their space to chill after city days. King Size bed in master suite, Queen Size Bed, Double Bed on floor below, plus extra single bed mattress for flexible sleeping/room sharing. (Air beds available on request.)

Easy 3-minute walk to the Tube (Clapham Common on the Northern Line) and a number of public bus lines 1-3 minutes walk from your front door. An overground train line, too. Clapham High Street station 4-mins walk (Windrush Line). All giving you fast access to the Natural History Museum, British Museum, Westminster, Covent Garden, Borough Market, Shoreditch, and more. Ride a classic red double-decker bus to Kensington, Hyde Park and Marble Arch for Piccadilly and Oxford Street.

If you're a cook, you'll enjoy a fully equipped kitchen - professional All-Clad cookware, microwave, double oven, gas stovetop - and open-plan dining with table that easily seats eight people.

For your convenience, the house has a full washer and dryer, and if you don't feel like cooking on vacation, stop as you exit the Tube at one of our many local pizza or US burger restaurants, pubs and cafes for dine-in or take-out.

For your sweet treats, Clapham Common is known for its coffee, cakes and pastries -- Lane Eight, Gail's, Trude's Deli -- and one of London's best ice-cream parlours, Nardulli. Three blocks from the house, you have one of London's best-loved parks (Clapham Common) for running, picnicking and bird-watching. Children's splash play area in summer!

My house is nestled on a quiet street but close to it all — unwind after sightseeing in a welcoming, sun-filled home.

Nice house in a great area of London.

Nice house with a homey feel, in a great area of London. Very conveniently located within a short walk of the Tube. Clapham is a lovely area with lots of pubs and restaurants, and Clapham Common is a large, beautiful park, perfect for long walks.

Perfect family spot to visit london

Our family of 5 stayed here for over a week to visit London and it was perfect! Felt quiet and just out of the busy city but walked to public transportation, grocery store and restaurants all week. Could have stayed longer! Highly recommend

Wonderful place!

Our family of 4 adults (kids aged 18 and 21) really enjoyed staying here. The owner, Susan, was always attentive to our needs; the property was clean and for an American family visiting London for the first time, we felt like we were in a safe place; and being close the the Underground was super convenient- only about 20 minutes and 1 or 2 stops from almost anywhere. The grocery store was super close, and we had almost everything we needed at our fingertips. I would highly recommend this home for families and people who want to be immersed in London culture.

Perfect neighborhood, Great host!

We loved this experience, start to finish. Location, neighborhood, communication- we had a wonderful time. Anything that went wrong was out of homeowner's control-- there was a systematic issue with the wifi that susan worked hard to fix, and it was a little unseasonably warm-- but that's a great problem to have in England in May.

A good spot in Clapham

A nice property in Clapham, in a great location - just off the High Street, good transport links via Northern Line, near the Common. Overall, the property was clean - but very full of the owner's belongings, which meant clearing out cupboards to make room for things. Otherwise, a great stay and definitely recommended.

Cozy and Quint Family Home in a Great Neighborhood!

Wonderful home right in Clapham Commons with amazing access to all of the London sights! My husband and I and our three sons in their 20s were very comfortable with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms to share. The master at the top of the stairs had a lovely little reading nook, too. Local grocery and restaurants just steps away, but even with all the hustle and bustle and fun nightlife, there was no sound of it once we turned the corner to this home. And, we were able to get to all the tourist sites in the city quickly and easily from the Northern Line station only 3 minutes away at Clapham Commons. Susan was responsive and attentive, and had great suggestions on day trips and sights in the city. We highly recommend this VRBO home for anyone looking for a cozy neighborhood home in London!

Eclectic Home and Village

We were looking for a place where my family of five could chill after visiting London – without being in London Central. Susan's home was clean, but really needed a deep dive clean. There were a couple of stray hairs in the top bathroom and with all the items in the home it felt musty – like the books needed a good dusting. The beds were comfortable and exactly the size indicated. We were very happy to have use of the washer and dryer. There is not any A/C and only one standing fan was provided in the second bedroom. We had to sleep with the windows open in the 80 degree "heat wave" for London – it was pretty brutal. Having to sleep with the windows open provided the opportunity for us to listen to the nightlife which is very active in this location – there are bars about two blocks away whose lines went down the street to the front door of the home. We listened to the noise until well past 2 a.m. for two of our evenings. The location itself is great! Just be prepared for the nightlife – it isn't our thing, so it was a bit of an intrusion. The home itself, as someone stated, is filled with personal belongings. This didn't bother us, it was interesting to see their design style. What did bother us were two things: 1. the ceiling furr down is extremely low in the top floor bedroom above the king size bed. It matches the coloring of the walls and there isn't any edge painting or stripe to visually make you see it. One of our family members cracked his forehead on it and we sought medical attention. Be very aware of this. I would recommend marking it somehow to see the bottom edge visually. 2. Getting into and out of the upstairs shower. The glass door doesn't move and the open end is next to the toilet. You have to maneuver in about a 12 inch space around the toilet to get into the shower and maneuver out with wet feet. Be careful! Also, the towels were thread bare and scratchy. The other thing we missed was being able to gather downstairs and chill. There aren't couches or sofa for relaxing. We had to all sit at the dining room table or three of us could sit in a chair. A printer was listed as an amenity, but she said she didn't know how we could connect to it. No biggie. Again, the location is great! Super easy transportation to London's tourists sites. If you like the nightlife, it's apparently extremely popular. During the days it was a nice villageWe felt safe at all times. The farmers market and Clapham Common were great.

Our host Susan was amazing. He was supper helpful and when we had a couple of issues arise, she took are of them ASAP. It is very close to Clapham Common tube station. I did suggest some more room for storing luggage once you've unpacked. The top floor bedroom has a queen bed and on suite bathroom. The middle floor has 2 bedrooms- one has a full bed and the other a twin bed. We made use of the washing and drying machines. As Susan will tell you, no air conditioning in most of Europe. She did supply us a couple of fans.

Location and Charm!

This home is so unique and situated PERFECTLY for your family to enjoy time in and around London. We loved the space and location. Cost reflects the location and size of the home. The space was a little cluttered with family treasures, book collections, and unique (and breakable) art/furniture, so we had to be extra careful with our 4yr old. Items filling the house and kitchen/bathroom cabinets seemed older, and the indoor temperature was pretty cold during our April visit, so we huddled under blankets and sneezed a lot (because of temperature and dust?). But ultimately, the beds were so comfortable and the living space provided opportunity to spread out. Showers were warm and there were friendly neighbors. It was fun to pretend to live in London for a bit.

This property is in a great location with good restaurants and shops. Very close to the tub station with easy access to wherever you want to go in London. Wonderful, eclectic house in Chapham Common

We loved this house. Clapham Common is a little off the beaten path, about 25 minutes to Central London by tube, but it's a wonderful, peaceful residential neighborhood with great pubs, a fantastic Saturday farmers market, and it's a bit of an escape from the hustle bustle of the city every day. We got a seven day travel card and did not really have to think about transportation. It's about a 3 1/2 to 4 minute walk to the Clapham common tube station. Several buses or a straight shot from where we ended our evenings and we simply took the bus home, four minute walk from bus station There are grocery stores, great coffee/cafés all with an easy walking distance. There are several restaurants on Venn Street, three minute walk from the house. We did take away one night, cooked one night (with the wonderful things we bought at the farmers market) and had great tapas one night, all in Clapham common. For a family of four with two adult kids, having three bedrooms was great. Having the second bathroom also made getting ready in the morning much easier. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Susan's home is exactly what our family needed - with the right amount of bedrooms and TWO bathrooms!! We enjoyed everything about her beautiful home, in addition to the cute neighborhood it resides in. The park that is a few blocks away was a great place for our grandson to run off all his energy! And don't get me started on the nearby Ice Cream place! Susan was amazing to work with. We appreciated all of her responses and felt like she truly wanted us to have a great time!!! Thanks, Susan!

Danke.

About the host

Hosted by Susan E

Host profile image
I'm a cook, writer, film-maker, website designer, mother and entrepreneur who loves Clapham Common for its urban village feel, big green spaces, cafes and restaurants, farmers market and easy walk to Tube, train and bus stops to get all over London. My family is half-American, half-British, and we love the amazing energy and culture of London with so many museums and art galleries.

Why they chose this property

I fell love with this house because it was so close to everything my kids and I needed--public transport, shops, park, cinema, cafes, restaurants (pizza, burgers, also fancy dining), doctor's surgery, post office, ice cream parlour.

What made my heart sing was all the light inside the house and the wooden floors and staircase built by the previous owner who was a master carpenter.

I picked the area to have a big green park nearby for running, also a sports centre a block away with two swimming pools, a full gym and exercise classes.

And it's only 20 mins by Tube to get to Borough Market, Leicester Square, and other central sites.

What makes this property unique

So close to shops, eateries and public transport but tucked away on a quiet side street. Clapham Common is a real London experience as lived by locals.
The house has three floors with large bedrooms, two living areas, and a home office with a sofa to relax on, so everyone has their space.
I've filled the house with original art and bright colours so it's a cheerful place to be -- a refuge after a day of sight-seeing.
