About this property

Beautiful Country Manor

Baldon House is the centre portion of a beautiful 18th Century Manor house (there is an East Wing and West Wing that are separate households). Set on the edge of the popular village of Marsh Baldon, six miles south of the historic university city of Oxford, the house is full of character and provides a wonderful holiday for the whole family. Surrounded by beautiful countryside full of walks and cosy pubs, it is the perfect getaway for peace and quiet. The seven bedroom house, that sleeps 12, blends both grandeur and charm, and has many period features such as high ceilings, marble fireplaces and parquet floors.

The bedrooms include: a luxurious Georgian master suite enjoying views across the countryside, with an emperor bed, large dressing room, stunning new bathroom with role top bath; a beautiful twin Georgian bedroom enjoying the same spectacular view with en-suite bathroom and walk in closet; a super-king (or 2 twins) en-suite bedroom with walk-in closet, enjoying views over the front courtyard, and church spire; a further double bedroom and two single bedrooms; three further bathrooms and a cloak room.

On the ground floor is a large, open-plan kitchen with breakfast room (stocked with everything you need including a nespresso machine for the perfect cappuccino), a well-appointed Georgian living room, and a beautiful historic panelled dining room seating 16.

Year-round, the house offers a wonderful combination of activities and relaxation. Eat al fresco on the South Lawn in the summer sun, enjoy eggs from the chickens and our own Baldon House pork and lamb. Have a go at croquet, treat the children to a pony ride or our very own on property Farm School, unwind by hitting golf balls on the lawn, or schedule a afternoon of clay pigeon shooting. In the autumn, warm yourself by the Aga after a brisk walk through the woods. Curl up with a good book by the fire in the winter and in the spring, watch the lambs in the fields or try your hand at shearing! Whatever your age or energy level, there is something for everyone.

Lovely country home

Had a lovely two week stay at Baldon House - the house is beautiful and spacious and well maintained and the grounds are gorgeous and green. This property manager and owner were both hugely kind and responsive whenever we had queries.

Baldon House

Baldon House is a spectacular property that was more than we hoped for. We are a family of 8 adults and one 2 year old. The living spaces, bedrooms, and kitchen are fabulous. We did not want to leave. If we ever go back to this part of England we will stay here in a heartbeat.

A beautiful great house!

We had a fantastic few days at Baldon House in May 19. The property is huge and perfect for our group of couples and children. The formal dining room is amazing and was a fantastic location for our birthday celebration. The house is well stocked and had everything we needed. A couple of issues with confirming check in details and the 10:00 check out felt a bit early but I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay at Baldon House.

The perfect stay

We were a large group looking for an unforgettable experience during the weekend. We couldn't have been more luck to find the Baldon House. The house is perfectly maintained, all the facilities are in great quality. Magic surroundings, the nature walks were so beautiful, the house is close to the horse stables with a gorgeous terrace and garden. We felt in love with the place! The kitchen was perfect, with all you need! Hannah and the team were extraordinary helpful during all time. It felt like we were in a dream... Thank you Hannah and the Baldon House team!

Lovely English Country House

Well cared for English house that had all the amenities, plus a lovely church and pub just steps away. Loved the history, pastoral setting and the location - Oxford only 20 minutes away. The proprietor was responsive and helpful.

Amazing Wedding Accomodation

We Stayed at Baldon house with our friends and family over our wedding. The house is awesome - well equipped and perfect for groups/ family visits. Lots of space lots of cooking and socilaising. The grounds are amazing - from a lake to wooded walks to horses and sheep to ball games on the lawn. We used the house to get ready in pre-wedding, with soo much room to get ready in (the master suite is VERY impressive). The estate offered amazing photo opportunities in and around the house barns and gardens.

English Country Manor

We were there for 10 days in July 2017. We are grandparents and 6 preteen/ teenage grandchildren. We arranged 3 days of driven touring, 2 trips to London by train and the rest exploring in our rented vehicle. Each day it felt like we were coming back to home when we got to the Manor. The accomodations were great and the outside area allowed all the excess energy to be dissipated. The Seven Stars Pub was a nightly enjoyment 5 minutes away. The staff were fantastic and the owners were very gracious. We totally enjoyed our stay and would recommend this site to other travellers.

Absolutely wonderful

Baldon House was the perfect venue for our annual family get-together. Four generations meet up each year to celebrate my mother's birthday. ( now 92 years old). This was our BEST ever, as the house was so full of character, so grand, so spacious and so well stocked with anything and everything you could possibly need. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped with ample seating for 12 people for breakfast/snacks. Formal dining in the grand dining room was a real treat too. The children enjoyed running around both indoors and outdoors in safety. The vast lawns at the front of the house provided ideal space for activities ( croquet available too) and a BBQ. We could not believe our luck in finding such a gem of a place, and came away with many happy memories to treasure.

Amazing and wonderful experience at Baldon House for our family of 12

This is one of the most wonderful vacations we have had in England. There were 12 of us as a family grandparents, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews and spouses. The house is like going back in time with all the modern conveniences. It is a real Enlish manor house and absolutely lovely. There is an old church on the property and the grounds are absolutely amazing. The house is fully equipped with everything we needed and the grocery store was just a few miles away. There are several sitting rooms, a wonderful formal dining room where we all sat down together for our evening meals, and an eat in kitchen where we all gathered to prepare meals. Even the China and glassware was perfect. The house is centrally located near Oxford so getting about by car, train or bus was easy. There is even a terrific pub within easy walking distance to the house. Whether you have a large family gathering or several couples on an adventure, you can't beat this. Thank you to the Young family for making this wonderful home available for us. Our two week stay was comfortable, pleasant, and the memories that we made are priceless. We will be back when we have the opportunity.

Dream come true

If you have ever dreamed of being the Lord or Lady or the Manor, Baldon House will make that dream come true. 11 of us stayed here for three nights as part of a three week trip to England and France and Baldon House is by far the best place that we stayed. The house and grounds are just as they look on the website and everything is in immaculate condition. Other than food, there is really nothing that is not provided. There are rain boots, umbrellas, flashlights, information about the area, games, etc. all for use. The house is huge and the grounds are fabulous and include a wonderful old church. We did not have a car and that was a little tricky but we managed. We took taxis from the train station. We walked just five or so minutes to the Seven Stars Pub. We walked 15 or so minutes down the road to the bus into Oxford. We also had a guide pick us up and drive us on a tour of the Cotswolds. One thing I would do differently is order food for delivery from Ocado. I did not realize that this needed to be done at least a day ahead of time so I ended up taking a taxi to and from the Sainsbury a few miles down the road. Overall, I cannot recommend Baldon House highly enough. The owner and caretaker were great to work with and made it all very easy and relaxed. If you have the chance, book at stay.

Simply put our stay at Baldon House was stupendous

For a brief 10 days we felt like we oversaw an English manor house complete with Dutch bred horses, Sandy & Black pigs and free range chickens. The house was filled with all that was required to complete a happy visit. The best pillows, books, CDs and every kitchen appliance imaginable. We cooked most meals at home and loved the dual ranges of Aga and gas. Perfect China and glassware so much so that one of our guests is now thinking of buying an entire set of Portmerion for herself. The greensward in front of the house is necklaced by glorious trees with an expanding view that seems endless. This was where innumerable games of Croquet took place while our friend Peregrine the Peacock sounded his approval as the gloaming advanced. I can't say enough about this house and the neighbouring families who could not have been more welcoming. We came for our daughter's wedding but hope to return very soon. It truly was our home away from home.

our stay at Baldon House

A beautiful Country residence. With lots of character, beautiful grounds, and surrounding area. Plenty of spacious accommodation. Facilities lived up to what we expected. Property was clean, and well maintained however a larger toaster would be more useful, plus some of the baking trays could do with replacing. Good customer service was provided. We would definitely recommend this a property to relatives and friends. .

Absolutely Fabulous

We stayed at Baldon House for a week at the end of June, 10 persons in our party. The house lived up to it's description and photos on the website. Beautifully decorated, fabulous kitchen, great outdoor areas, very comfortable beds. There's a good pub with excellent cuisine within a 2 minute walk, Oxford is 5-10 minutes by car. The owners and staff are wonderful people and very professional. Staying at Baldon House turned a great trip into an absolutely unforgettable experience!

Relaxing in splendour for a long week end

We had a family re-union over a 4 day period, staying at this beautiful residence in the country. Its spacious accommodation enabled each guest to enjoy their privacy with two sitting rooms to choose from. One with chairs and TV and the other large drawing room with its wonderful fire and views onto the lawn and ha ha beyond. The owner's were extremely helpful in providing information to enable us to have a chef in to cook a meal on one of the evenings which was served in the beautiful panelled dining room. During the day we enjoyed walking in and around Dorchester and visiting the historical city of Oxford. If you are looking for a break in a splendid English Manor House then I would thoroughly recommend Baldon House.
