Great jump off point for Yellowstone

Both Dorothy and Leo are very friendly. They are also very knowledgeable about Yellowstone and gave us great information about where to go and what to look for. Great location...just 30 minutes from the park. A beautiful home and a great place to stay!

Home away from home

My family of 3 had a great stay with Leo and Dorthoy. You can tell they pay attention to detail. The home was clean and safe. The bed was very comfy. We had everything we needed for our daily adventures. We would stay again. Thank you for a great trip to Yellowstone.

Dear Stacy, Thanks so much for joining us! We enjoyed hearing about your adventures and sharing the Tiger Swallowtail eggs and caterpillars with you! We also appreciated hearing that you had a hard time washing, drying, and putting away the last-minute dishes before you checked out. We hope our partial refund of your cleaning deposit repayed you for your trouble. Also, thanks to your suggestion, we've eliminated the need to dry and put away the dishes before future guests check out. It's a simple thing for us to let them air-dry, and we know where they go. :-) Your entire family was delightful, and we hope you can return soon to see even more of Yellowstone. Best wishes always, Dorothy and Leo

Dear Elizabeth and Charlie, Thanks so much for your kind words. We really enjoyed meeting you, and were surprised and grateful when you returned to help us cover our tomatoes the night before the frost. You both are so thoughtful!!! Next time, we hope you can help us look for eggs, caterpillars, and maybe tag and release some Monarchs together! (With all the rain and cold weather, they were late this year.) Best wishes always! Top of the line accommodation - Exceptional Rental

Monarch Garden Inn was the nicest place we have ever rented - ever. Its location in Emigrant, MT is ideal for visiting Yellowstone Nat’l Park, Bozeman, and the local attractions like Chico Hotsprings. There is also enough infrastructure close by to pick up necessary groceries, etc. and even eat out. The best part of Monarch Garden in is the hospitality and actual accommodations. Dorothy and Leo are exceptional and gracious hosts. They are caring, friendly, and knowledgable. They welcomed us graciously and invited as to enjoy their home rental as if it was our own home. They gave us many amazing tips on finding wildlife to view, and they taught us and our children about the magic and miracle of the Monarch Butterfly life cycle. They also gave us complete privacy when we needed it to relax. Their house is amazing. It is METICULOUSLY clean and exceptionally well stocked with absolutely everything a traveler may need. The bed is a king tempurpedic and there is a jacuzzi tub!!! Both of these high end ammenities are an amazing luxury after a long day in the national park. For me, the top three requirements for a successful stay are safety, cleanliness, and comfort. Dorothy and Leo provided all three with the addition of hospitality and luxury. Thank you Dorothy and Leo for the best trip and stay of our lives!!

Dear Noel and Jennifer, Thanks so much for your kind words. Your entire family was delightful, and we are happy Leo's tips helped you find the critters you wanted to see. We were also touched to see your entire family's reaction to examining the monarch eggs and newly-hatched caterpillars up close with the magnifying glass. And we were also happy to share everyone's excitement as you all described the highlights of your adventures. We look forward to seeing you again when you're ready to explore more of Yellowstone. (And soak in the jacuzzi!) Best wishes always, Dorothy and Leo

Big sky and mountain views

My wife and I stayed at this apartment for 4 nights in September. We used the apartment as our base for exploring Yellowstone National Park. Here are our impressions: LOCATION: The location was about 30 minutes from the Roosevelt Arch at the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Even though it was a little further from the park, we loved the location for several reasons. 1) Due to the open concept, we had a spectacular view of Emigrant Mountain from every room in the apartment except the bathroom. 2) The location was away from the crowds in a peaceful setting with a bio-hedge and, while we were there, numerous bluebirds. 3) There were local restaurants and a market with everything we needed less than 5 minutes away. 4) Because we were away from everything, we were able to experience the true Montana big sky for stargazing at night. CLEANLINESS: We are sticklers for cleanliness and this apartment passed with flying colors. AMENITIES: The apartment had everything that we were looking for – California king bed, large bathroom vanity, plenty of kitchen counter space (including a large island), full-size washer & dryer, internet access, plenty of space for the two of us, and did I mention the views. The bathroom had a large jetted tub, and the owners supplied Epsom salts to use with it after a long day hiking/exploring the park. Everything was updated with exquisite finishes. My wife fell in love with the granite on the countertops and island. PRIVACY: This apartment is the second floor of the home, above the owner’s living space. We had no issues with noise or privacy. We were able to park in a parking space off the driveway, with just a few steps inside the front door up to the living space, so loading and unloading the car was not a problem. HOSTS: Dorothy and Leo were very welcoming, responsive, and gracious in meeting all our needs, and are some of the nicest people we have met in our travels. When we arrived, Dorothy gave us a detailed tour of the apartment and amenities. They were very respectful of our privacy, but were also genuinely interested in talking with us about the area and our adventures. OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT: The only thing we would change, if we could, would be to make the shower a little larger. Other than that, the apartment was perfect. OVERALL: We were extremely satisfied with this apartment and give it our highest recommendation - we would definitely stay here again.

Dear Brent and Angela, Thanks so much for your kind words. We truly enjoyed meeting you and hearing about your adventures! And thanks so much for your suggestion about preferring a larger shower. Leo has been trying to convince me to remodel the bathroom to make the shower larger, and now, thanks to you, it has been bumped up higher on the "honey-do list!" Best wishes always, Dorothy and Leo

Our stay at Monarch Garden Inn was truly a "Home away from home" experience. The apartment was spacious, well-furnished and comfortable. Leo and Dorothy were excellent hosts, friendly and very knowledgeable in helping us plan our stay and exploring Yellowstone and Grand Tetons Parks. The peace and quiet was welcome after the often hectic days in the parks and on the roads. A special treat was learning more about Monarch butterflies and their efforts to help the butterflies thrive. Dorothy even let us watch the live, almost magical transformation of a Monarch caterpillar into a chrysalis, which later transforms into an adult Monarch butterfly. The caterpillar literally "unzips" its outer skin, then twists and turns, and before our eyes, became the chrysalis in a matter of minutes. We would recommend staying here to anyone who has a genuine interest in and appreciation for the natural beauty of the land and wildlife of the Rocky Mountains. Great getaway to Yellowstone National Park

Dorothy and Leo are great hosts. The check-in was smooth and easy and Dorothy gave a detailed tour of the property. Dorothy and Leo provide a lot of information about the local area (which cannot be found online). The property was clean and as described. It is closer to Yellowstone national park. We were able to spot few Elks from the property. During sunrise, you have humming birds flying by the bird feeder. We enjoyed staying here and would definitely love to come back. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in this area.

Superb homebase for Yellowstone adventures

Dorothy and Leo's beautiful Monarch Garden reflects their personal warmth, love of nature, and care for its protection. The views from.the bedroom and livingroom are fabulous...elk meandering, hawks flying with mountains as backdrop. Kitchen has all you need, and the jacuzzi tub is wonderful after a day of exploring. The butterfly garden is inspirational! I highly recommend spending some time reviewing the wonderful Yellowstone tips and guides they provide. Those special places made our visit fascinating and full of wildlife sightings. We can't give enough gold stars! Thank you Dorothy and Leo for such a wonderful vacation home.

Dear Megan and Lloyd, Thanks so much for your kind words! You were delightful guests, and we were glad that the tips we offered enabled you to find the critters you came to see. (especially glad to hear the "Bearmuda Triangle" lived up to its name!) We were also happy to point out the highlights of the Grand Teton area so your next adventure before returning home would be great, as well! Again, thanks so much for joining us! We hope you can return a little later in the season next time so you can experience the magic of the Monarchs, too! Best wishes always, Dorothy and Leo

Wonderful hosts and beautiful home!

Beautiful home and the view was stunning. Leo and Dorothy were very kind and gracious hosts, providing as much or as little insight to the area as you want. It should be noted that they do have a cat and although not in the area while you are there, if you have allergies it could present an issue.

We vacuum and dust thoroughly after each guest, but with your reminder, we'll continue to pay extra attention to this in the future. Best wishes always, Dorothy and Leo
