Solmar Apartment #6 comprises two 2 double bed bedrooms designed to accommodate up to 4 adults / children with a spectacular view over Marsascala’s characteristic fishing port and the open sea beyond.
Centrally located and set just back from the harbour front on a quiet non-thoroughfare street, the apartment offers calm and will allow you to enjoy Marsascala’s seaside location and its traditional relaxed social lifestyle making for a fascinating holiday for the whole family.
The apartment is just a 5 minute walk from the Marsaskala bus terminus from where you can reach all corners of Malta and Gozo in comfort and low cost without having to worry about driving or parking. We can organise rapid and efficient transfer from the airport to the apartment with immediate check in, obtain 7 day bus pass tickets for you. We can also organise bespoke private guided visits should you so require.
A butcher, baker, mini supermarkets, local fishermen (for the early riser) and fresh vegetable stalls are all within a stone’s throw, meaning that a car is not needed for everyday necessities.
The apartment is modernly furnished and has been finished to a high standard combining simple elegance and practical functionality that includes efficient and silent invertor technology AC units in each room that can also be used for heating in the colder months.
It is extremely light and airy and comprises an open plan kitchen / dining / sitting room area, two bedrooms and two bathrooms equipped with generously dimensioned showers (the main bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom). The beds in each bedroom can be arranged as either a large king-sized double bed or separate 90 cm x 2 meter twin beds. The apartment’s master bedroom is large enough to add an extra child’s bed or cot if required. The orthopedic mattresses are comfortable and duvets, bed linen and towels are all supplied. A hair dryer is also provided in each apartment. For stays longer than 2 weeks, we will supply an extra set of clean bed linen.
The kitchen has been thought out so that it will be a pleasure should you prefer to stay in and dine al-fresco on the terrace admiring the evening view over the harbour. The all-electric kitchen is equipped with oven, microwave, induction hob, hood, toaster and kettle and of course a dishwasher to make you feel at home. In addition, each apartment has a clothes washing machine, clothes drying racks, iron and ironing board.
There is free internet / WiFi as well as it is equipped with a streaming device so that you can pick up many of your favourite channels. If you have subscriptions to streaming channels such as Amazon Prime or Netflix, please bring your User ID and Passwords with you so you can log on via the Android box.
A children’s play park with an impressive range of activities for various ages can be reached within 10 minutes on foot.
A number of water sports such as scuba diving, sailing, fishing are all to be found in the region.
For those interested in history, Valletta, the 3 Cities and the megalithic temples of Tarxien are all within 10 – 20 minutes by car.
A very pleasant and wide promenade running along the waterfront around the bay with its numerous restaurants and bars is particularly agreeable for an evening stroll. Along the way you will come across designated cordoned-off bathing areas with direct access to the sea from the flat rocks via short ladders. The water is crystal clear and its temperature is most welcoming from late Spring through to late Autumn. Nearby, St Thomas’ Bay with its sandy beach can be reached by a 5 minute bus ride.
The one thing you will be short of is time to sample everything on offer.
The airport is less than 20 minutes away by taxi and the host will happily organise an airport pick up upon request.
Although the apartment block does not have its own parking, being on a quiet and non-thoroughfare street means that it is usually fairly easy to find a place to park close to the apartment.
It should be noted that the apartment being on the 2nd floor without a lift is not suitable for persons with reduced mobility. This being said, the stairways are wide, well lit and not steep, so very easy to climb.
To avoid misunderstandings, please note the following: a) Included in the nightly rental is 10kWh of electricity/day, which is more than adequate for average usage. For extra consumption, a coin meter is provided in the apartment set at €1 buys an extra 4 kWh of electricity. Please note that during periods of extreme Summer heat, you may need to add a few Euros per day extra to fully cover AC consumption.
b) There is a tourist tax in Malta payable at check in time of €0.5/night/adult. The rate will be increased in July 2026 to €1.50/adult/night/person capped at €15 / person / stay. This tax will be collected upon check-in at the apartment.
c) Check in and check out policy • Normal check in times are 16:00 to 22:00 • Normal check out times are 08h00 – 10h00 • Late check out requests will be evaluated if possible depending on planned cleaning schedule. • Check out between 10h00 - 12h00 will only be possible if house manager has confirmed it as such and will be free of charge. • Check out after 12h00 will be subject to a late check out fee of €50 and payable in cash to house manager. • Check out after 16h00 and extra nights’ stays will be subject to availability and a nightly rental according to the applicable nightly rate (late check out fee not applicable in this case) and is payable in cash to the house manager. • For arrivals at the apartment that would be after 22h00, we will contact you closer to the date of arrival for details.
d) Guests will be provided 2 sets of keys for the apartment at check in. Lost keys are subject to a replacement service fee of €50 payable in cash at check out.
e) For unforeseen circumstances where a call out is required for reasons other than a defect in the apartment or rental (for example guest has locked himself out of the apartment and requires access to recover keys), guests are requested to abide by the following service fee schedule: • 08h00-20h00 - €30 • 20h00-24h00 - €50

Amazing view from a really lovely comfy well equipped apartment , great communication from all.near restaurants , cafes etc , near other towns Valletta mdina .Nothing to complain about .One thing of note there are quite a few stairs to get to apartment so you need to be reasonably fit particularly if you have heavy luggage.
A fantastic base in a very well equiped apartment with the best view of the bay.Clear comprehensive instructions were given from booking to departing.The meet and greet and airport transfers were brilliant.We will go back.

Fantastic apartment local buses just across the road perfect for travelling around the island all bus passes and airport transfers arranged by owner. Owner very responsive to queries excellent help and information from Cynthia as well.
Very good location with excellent harbour view. Spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Registration with Cynthia was easy and straightforward and she was very informative and helpful throughout our stay. Two very well stocked convenience stores nearby as is the bus station which made travelling about Malta very easy. A thouroughly enjoyable stay.

The apartment was as described, and offers a wonderful view of the harbor from the balcony. All of the amenities that anyone might need were provided and Cynthia (the property manager) gave a full description of all we needed to know on our arrival. A very good grocery store is just around the corner and several good restaurants are close by. We enjoyed Tal Familja most, for the excellent food and service. We would definitely recommend Peter's apartment to anyone.

Is just a few steps from dozens of restaurants on the waterfront, was as advertised - clean and spacious. Communication was great and the place comes with a built in tour guide and taxi service if you choose to utilize her (Cynthia). Excellent time

Located by many great restaurants, bus station, and very safe area. Only complaint is the hot water pressure is horrible, took at least 4 minutes to raise shampoo out of hair, barely more than stream of water. Also only 2 hand towels left for bathing for total stay.

I was really surprised about your comment regarding water pressure as the apartment has a dedicated water pump to boost pressure. I have checked the installation and discovered that there was in fact a minor technical issue which prevented the pump from starting. So you would have obtained a water flow but not at a high pressure. This has now been corrected.

The property is located near the harbour which has a good selection of restaurants and several convenience stores. The view over the harbour from the balcony is amazing and we were lucky to be there for several festival firework displays.There are several places to go swimming within walking distance, if you find the sun excessive you might need to time your visit for when it is a bit cooler.The bus system in Malta makes travelling around the island easy and inexpensive. In addition to visiting the main historical sights we took an excellent cruise from Sliema that went completely around the island.The apartment details do warn that it is not suitable for anyone with reduced mobility, something that I would agree with given the uphill walk from the harbour and the 59 steps once you are in the front door.

Lovely view of Marsaskala harbour. Enough eateries for a short stay. We wanted to explore Island more. All buses go to Valletta but for a lot of other destinations you needed to go into Valletta and change there. Very inexpensive form of travel at 2.50 Euros pp for a few hours of travel but very time consuming. Enjoyed stay and hosts were very helpful.

During a business trip last year, i stayed at this apartment located away from the crowded tourist areas. Enjoyed it so much i wanted to come back.
Like the previous time the place was clean and well equipped. The view is amazing just as advertised.
Marsaskala is my favorite location on Malta, perfect for a daily commute to the airport, avoiding the usual traffic.
This comfortable apartment with plenty of restaurants within walking distance turned my business trip into a pleasant mini-vacation after work and in the weekends.

Great view and very convenient to the local bus terminus, restaurants and grocery shopping. Marsaskala is a small town about 45 minutes by bus from capital city Valetta. Has all the conveniences you need for a small town atmosphere yet just convenient bus rides to the common tourist attractions in Malta. Apartment was clean, had a great view and had the basics when we arrived. Managers George and Cynthia were very helpful. Overall, the property and location was what we were looking for and we had a relaxing stay while taking day trips by bus to the many tourist sights in Malta.
We really enjoyed our last two weeks of a month long visit in Marsaskala. The apartment perfectly located within walking distance to restaurants, groceries, etc. the bus terminal was five minutes away and we were also able to have some beautiful and fascinating long walks everyday! The Maltese people are lovely and welcoming!The apartment is on the third floor of a newer building. So, keep that in mind if you have mobility issues. It is roomy and comfortable.There is much road and building construction going on everywhere in Malta, but the apartment was lovely and quiet every night.The terrace looks out over the harbour, and we loved the sunrise views!

The apartment is located in walking distance from cafes, restaurants and shops. The apartment was well appointed with a small balcony facing the harbour unfortunately because it faced East it was too hot to sit out there unless it was early in the morning or after 4:00 PM the only other negatives were the lack of available street parking and the fact that there is no elevator. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Regarding the sun - it is what it is but that's why many people come to Malta in the first place !! Although we do provide a sun shade over the terrace area, it may not cover all points throughout the day.
It is true that street parking can be a challenge at certain times of the day, but this is also true all over Malta.
We typically suggest to our guests to use buses and Uber rather than rent a car. We can also organise bespoke tours to the key sites in Malta and Gozo.

Excellent location for restaurants, local shops and bus terminal.
Sandy beach 15 minutes walk away or short hop on bus.
Appartment had everything you require for holiday, although we ate out every day ,the kitchen was well equipped so you could cook a meal if you wanted to stay in.
The only thing missing was fresh bed linen for our second week stay. We did however wash sheets and dry sheets ourselves. And maybe some extra pillows for beds.
Apart from that we had a great stay and loved Malta.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The flat is in the best area, close to restaurants and street life, and the view is beautiful. The flat needs a little updating though. Water pressure in an issue (it takes a little while to get wet) and the showers as such need an upgrade. The balcony, however beautiful, needs a baldakin or an umbrella to offer protection from rain or sun. The kitchen utensils are fine, if you want to prepare a cold meal, but the puts and pans are not fit for cooking, though. Still - very good value for money. And Cynthia and her husband are there for you all the time, if you need anything.

Regarding the water pressure, there may have been a problem with the auxiliary water pump since the water pressure is usually excellent.
Being the end of the season and with the possibility of stormy weather, we did not think that the sun shades were still necessary. So sorry about that.

Our holiday was great from start to finish. As recommended by the owner, George picked up us from the airport and took us straight to the apartment. He then took us back at the end of our holiday. Cynthia was there to welcome us at the apartment to show us around and explain how everything worked. They were both very friendly and helpful.
They apartment was very clean and well equipped with very good air conditioning in all rooms. Well located with just a walk down the steps to the harbour. Excellent views from the balcony which were lovely in an evening around sunset.
Overall this is a great base for exporting Malta. We used Uber to get around but the apartment is close to the bus station.

This was our 4th holiday to Malta from Australia and our second stay in Marsaskala. The location of the apartment is fantastic, walking distance to the local convenience stores and cafes, also the bus terminal if you don’t hire a car. We did hire a car and found the parking harder than previous trips, we did have to park in the next street some nights however parking is difficult all over Malta not just in this area. The apartment was exactly as the photos in the advertisement, being a Winter stay we did find the water pressure challenging, when we did have some sort of pressure it was warm to cold, we didn’t have a hot shower while we were there. Simple things in the unit would have been appreciated, one being clean dish cloths, the one provided had been used and we couldn’t find any new ones in the under sink cupboard. No tea/coffee satchels or laundry detergent so you will need to bring your own or purchase at the local convenience store. We had arranged the airport transfer however the manager did forget that we were arriving that day and forgot to pick us up so luckily we had family to drive us to the apartment with our luggage. I would recommend messaging before arrival to confirm the airport transfer with her, she did apologise. I would recommend this apartment in Summer and warmer months.
