About this property
Fabulous home on the Mckenzie River.
We were very fortunate to have our beautiful home on the Mckenzie River spared from the devastating fires of 2020, and so we wanted to help those less fortunate in our community. We therefore took the decision to rent our home full-time to a family who had to rebuild their own home.
We are however delighted to now be able to offer Union House for vacation rentals again and to help families and friends make wonderful memories at our home on the river.
The Union House is located in Vida just across the Good Pasture Bridge off Highway 126, 40 mins from Eugene.
From its elevated riverside location, Union House enjoys one of the best views on the McKenzie taking in the glorious river, majestic mountains and the iconic Goodpasture covered bridge . The property enjoys its own dock and river frontage making it ideal for fishing and fun on the McKenzie. There are also abundant hiking and biking trails nearby. When it's time to relax, flop onto one of our many outdoor seating options, cuddle up with a book in a chair by the fire, enjoy riverside dining and entertaining in comfy chairs by the fire bowl or on one of the house's three massive deck, all with that marvellous view.
Outside the property sweeps down to the river with the house boasting three tiers of large decking with seating options to admire the views up and down the river, have a BBQ or maybe a glass or two of Oregon’s finest wines and brews.
Inside the accommodation is split over two levels. The top level has a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast nook, a large living and dining area with jaw-dropping views, half bath and utility room. Also located on the upper level is the master bedroom with its own balcony perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or just escaping the world, as well as en-suite bathroom with double vanity, tub and shower. Downstairs is the family room complete with bar, dart board and many other games, books and again that incredible view, as well as two bedrooms and a family bathroom.
The area is a perfect base to explore the wonderful McKenzie River.

Great location on the River! Lots of fish to catch! House was perfect for us. We had a great time! Would like to come back another time. Thank you for being a great host!
Beautiful property, amazing views and amenities. Got to see the color light show on Goodpasture bridge through the main floor windows with the whole family. 10/10!
This was a great place to stay with our grandson. The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Wonderful communication... Fantastic views!

What a lovely review - thank you! Delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay so much and that it coincided with the beautiful autumn colours. We hope to see you again on the river!
You can’t go wrong staying at this wonderful property. The location is perfect and it is so peaceful by the river. My wife and I enjoyed staying here for four nights and we could have stayed much longer. Close to great hiking , fishing and sightseeing opportunities, and the house itself is spacious and beautiful.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay. We can't take credit for the amazing view and location but delighted that you also were happy with the house. Please do come again!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Union House. Nice view of the river and apparently a very popular fishing hole. It was fun to watch the boats reeling in fish. The place was spotless! We enjoyed the table top firebowl table for an evening meal overlooking the river. We’ll look forward to another visit soon!

Delighted you enjoyed your stay. We also get a kick out of watching the fish get reeled in (and then released of course!) from the boats. We look forward to seeing you again!
We loved this nice peaceful place on the river. The photos don’t do the view justice. The full view out the picture windows and from the decks can’t be captured by camera.
Just stayed at the Union House and would have to say what a great house. Couldn't ask for a better location on the river and perfect for our guys weekend of golf and fly fishing. House was well equipped with everything we needed and more. Also great management team, with excellent communication and assistance. We'll definitely book again next summer for our annual golf and fly fishing trip.

Mckinsey River Union House
We loved the property. We found the view of the river, the covered bridge and the gardens very relaxing even on the rainy days we had in May. There is plenty of space for everyone in side and out. If you feel like you need some city sights, Eugene is just a beautiful 30 minute drive away.
We look forward to a return visit and try our hand at fishing .

So pleased you enjoyed your stay Galen, but wish I could have magicked away the rain for you! Please do come back to get some fishing in.
We had no epic plans, just a little last-minute getaway for my wife's 50th birthday and with the current COVID situation, a local(ish) trip was in order. The home was larger than we needed but located wonderfully along the river ... it is always nice to be on or next to a beautiful river. The home is well appointed with comfortable living spaces (inside and out), and a spacious equipped kitchen.

Wonderful home, great location, excellent hosts!
My family had such a great time at the Union House. Amy and Bob take obvious pride in their river home and we are grateful that they share it! The home is lovely, the beds are comfy and the house had wonderful welcoming touches to enjoy. We loved exploring all of the nearby parks, trails and waterfalls. My daughter took over 100 pictures of different wildflowers during our adventures! Our evenings were spent playing cards, cornhole and hide and seek (at the request of our kids). Priceless family time!

I'm so pleased that your family had a good time Alicia. I think you are the first to play hide and seek at the house and what a great idea as the house and grounds are full of hiding places! We hope to see you again on the river!
This place has such a unique layout and amazing charm, and fantastic views of the river, from every level of the house. Relaxing on the deck with the fire table with family was so relaxing and recharged our internal batteries. Everything was so easy, and every ammenity we could need was thought of. The movies & games available were awesome too. Even left us a little gift basket of Oregon-made treats. Thank you!

So glad you and your family were able to enjoy time together and that you appreciated the touches we have put into the house to help make it a great experience for our guests. We hope to see you all again some day, hopefully the world by then will be a less scary and potentially dangerous place! Kind regards, Amy
Phenomenal experience staying at the Union House, right on the Mackenzie River, a very convenient 40 minute drive from Eugene.
We were up for our son's college graduation, and being outside of the craziness of Eugune proved to be a blessing, and staying at the Union House made our entire experience the better.
House is very much as advertised in pictures, if not better. Great kitchen, very comfortable beds & baths, and a killer view with lots of decking to relax on.
Love the ability to fly fish right outside the house, with family cheering me on from the upper deck!
Thank you Amy for making our stay so great, and for the flexibility to add another night on short notice. We loved it!

Thank you for the very kind review Jon and I am pleased that we were able to make the extra night work. Best of luck to your son as he embarks on his post-college life!
I can’t say enough good things about this place. From check-in to check-out it was perfect. The location of the home was on a wonderful section of the river. We had a blast catching the plentiful trout and just relaxing on the water. The home was very clean and well appointed for even an extended stay. The communication with the owner and the property manager was also outstanding and very helpful. Don’t hesitate to book this place. We will be back for sure. Two things to note: as I’m sure was stated previously, the driveway is very steep so it’s not a good fit for low cars. Also, the WiFi is very slow which was an added benefit and great excuse to unplug.

Thank you for the review Eric and yes in deed the driveway is very steep and the internet sloooow! For some reason we get good speed with our phones but not other devices, but anyway as you say, a great excuse to unplug with tech and plug into nature. Really hope we will see you again, and that your daughter found her stylus! Amy

A MUST STAY!!!!!!!!!
Amy has a beautiful home and the communication with her is top notch. The kitchen is to die for and the beds are fabulous. Appliances are top of the line and the views are exquisite. We were in heaven the whole time we were there. The scenery was great. Lots of hiking trails and fishing on the river. Had dinner on the deck in the evenings and smores on the fire pit. Wonderful neighbor down the street took us on his trails of beautiful flowers, small waterfall and pond. It was breathtaking. If you want to relax and enjoy nature then this is the place for you. We will be back!!!!!!!! Tried to think of a way to stay longer but it just wasn't possible right now. The only 1 downfall and this was nothing that the owners could control, is the boat dock was a little under the water due to all the rain they had. But you can stand on the river bank to fish. This place is absolutely the best!!!!!!!!! We were meet by Stephanie and Mike to get in the house and they were superb also. Thank you Amy for sharing your house with us.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Union House. This property is very welcoming and we instantly felt at home. The house was well stocked, clean, and the view can’t be beat. We fished, floated on the river, roasted marshmallows, relaxed on the decks, and lounged on all the comfy seating throughout the house.

Glad you enjoyed your stay and so fully participated in all the area has to offer. Thank you too for the kind words, they mean a lot to us as we do try. We hope to see you again on the river!
The Union House is the ideal decompress and connect with nature vacation rental. Our family LOVED everything about this house - location, beautiful views, cleanliness, super comfortable beds, plenty of clean towels, sheets and pillows, board games and puzzles. My family spent hours on together sitting on the decks (yes there are multiple decks with an amazing view of the river) enjoying the view and the sound of the river flowing. As for the owner Amy, she is by far the best ever vacation rental owner we have worked with. Truly appreciated her prompt and warm emails. The property manager Stephanie is fantastic too. We look forward to more vacations the Union House!
