About this property
A cosy log cabin nestled in the woods. next to the river Deveron
Deveron Lodge is a cosy two-storey log cabin nestled in 2.5 acres of woodland as part of Deveron Valley Cottages and Marnoch Lodge Estate, with direct access to walks along the beautiful River Deveron.
Tastefully furnished, and with a log burner to ensure the evenings are warm and cosy, this picturesque home has a twin bedroom downstairs and a double bedroom upstairs. The large upstairs Mezzanine balcony (which holds an extra single bed), leads to a sheltered outdoor balcony area, where you can sit with a wee dram and listen to the birds and wildlife in the woods. There is ample room for five guests, with a large family bathroom on the ground floor, children particularly like the bed on the mezzanine balcony. Deveron Lodge has the best of both worlds cosy in the winter snuggling up next to the log burner, and lots of outdoor space for the summer months with garden furniture and a BBQ.
Wood for the log burner is supplied in your own log shed next to the cabin, Dogs are also very welcome and we have 150 acres of woodland meadow and river walks, a perfect base for exploring the whiskey and castle trails and a short drive to the beautiful coastal towns and beaches of Banff, Portsoy Cullen and Findochty.

About the host
Hosted by Ally Cairns

Hello everyone I’m Ally and my partner is Jason in June 2019 we took over Deveron Valley Cottages.
We are from South Wales and took the big leap from call centre to countryside in a life changing decision. We are loving it!
Jason previously a Master Blacksmith for many years is enjoying the outdoor life as am I.
We love this part of the country and having lived in the Brecon Beacons National Park feel quite at home.
It’s been a big learning curve and we work hard to maintain the high standards we have achieved over the last three years.
If we are not pottering around in the garden, you will probably find us out on our motorbikes exploring the gorgeous cost roads or painting, sculpting and generally working in or around the 13 acres that the cottages sit in.
The change of lifestyle has really allowed us to pursue or hobbies whilst enjoying our work too.
We look forward to seeing you at Deveron Valley Cottages and hope you love it as much as we do

What makes this property unique
We are still discovering little gems ourselves, but at the moment our favourite places to see are Portsoy and the wonderful Portsoy Ice Cream Shop, Cullen with its many quirky antique shops, Sandend Beach where 'surfs up' even in the winter and dogs are allowed all year round, our local village Aberchirder (known locally as Foggie) has a wonderful family pub with a delicious home cooked menu most nights (it is advisable to book in advance)
We are also on the 'Whiskey and Castle Trails' (nearest being Fyvie Castle and Glendronach Distillery). The fascinating Pictish standing stones and ancient stone circles seem to pop up everywhere and we have visited a few the Nearest being Rothiemay stone circle which is just a few miles away.
A little further afield is the hauntingly beautiful and remote Cabrach Region where you can explore the reindeer park, ski school and visitor centre.
About hours’ drive is the dramatic Dunottar castle, stunningly beautiful and closer to home Huntly Castle with its fascinating history.
Do tell us if you find something interesting so we can go explore too!
