Wake to Waves and Panoramic Sea Views

Sandend Cottage sits in the picturesque fishing village of Sandend, between Cullen and Portsoy on the Moray Firth. The location offers an ideal base for coastal walks, wildlife watching, and day trips to the Whisky Trail, Castle Trail and wider Banffshire coast. The cottage enjoys superb sea views from the kitchen, lounge and two front bedrooms, overlooking the wide sandy beach. Three bedrooms sleep up to five guests, with modern amenities including Wi-Fi, a well-equipped kitchen, lounge with gas stove, and a quiet single room opening to the terrace. A utility/wet room supports beach days, surf kits and dogs. Outside, an elevated enclosed garden with terrace and summer house offers outstanding views for outdoor dining and barbecues. Families, walkers, dog owners and surfers all appreciate the beachside setting and immediate access to the coast. On-street parking is typically available outside the cottage.

Quiet beachside cottage

Loved it!! Was amazing just looking out of the windows at the beach, the waves, the surfers, the paddle boarders, the sun rising, sun setting. The cottage itself is very well equipped inside. Beds are comfortable. Good shower as well as a bath. It's nice and warm and has the gas effect log burner which is nice to have on in the evening. T.V. reception and wifi is good. Outside the top terrace has a washing drying area, furniture to sit on in the sunny weather and a summer house. All in all so comfortable. We took provisions for the week and didn't really want to go anywhere else... we did however!! Great communication with the owners before arriving.

A little bit of paradise in NE Scotland

We had a great time. The house is lovely and in a perfect position for access to the beach and coastal walks while the small ex-fishing village of Sandend is delightful. We had a great week of surfing, went out in the kayak from the harbour and had a porpoise around the boat, went on numerous walks along the beautiful Moray and Banff coastline, visited the old fishing villages of Crovie and Pennan and, on the last night, were treated to a display of Northern Lights from the Harbour wall. Bliss. Shame the village doesn't have a pub or café but I guess you can't have everything! Thanks Wendy for a fantastic base to enjoy all of this from and a warm home to retreat to at the end of the day.

A lovely cottage!

We stayed in Sandend at this lovely spacious cottage in July. Everything was completely perfect from the rooms, to the facilities, to the cleanliness and to the view. We even got lucky with the weather! I would 100% and totally recommend this cottage and I would love to return.

Stunning week in Sandend

Being lulled to sleep by the waves outside and waking up to glorious sunshine was heaven. Cliff walks during the day under bright blue skies followed by fresh fish every night made for a restful week. Can't wait to be back.

About the host

Host profile image
Having grown up in Leicester, about as far away from the sea as it is possible to get, it was an absolute joy to move up to Scotland with my husband Colin, in 2002 and we haven't looked back. We started with a guest house, but when that started to get complicated after the arrival of twins, we moved into the self catering side of tourism. Colin is now a kitchen and bathroom fitter/joiner which is very handy for maintenance and I have an unpaid second job as child taxi service, keeping any spare time for walking the dogs on the beach and coastal rowing!
