About this property

White House Retreat

Welcome to White House Retreat – your ultimate Highland stay. Brimming with natural light, vibrant colours, and thoughtful touches, this home offers stunning views, easy access to local attractions, and all the space you need to relax and recharge.

Nestled in the picturesque town of Banff, it's a true Scottish experience. Whether you're exploring whisky distilleries, discovering castles, or even searching for Nessie, there's endless adventure to be had in this stunning corner of Scotland!

Throughout the home, thoughtful details and vibrant patterns create an elegant yet playful atmosphere, reflecting the warmth and spirit of Scotland. Spread across two spacious floors, the home is perfect for families, groups, or special occasions. With three distinct living areas, it offers the ideal space for both socializing and quiet moments, whether you're enjoying a cosy evening by the fire, reading in a sunlit nook, or gathering for movie night.

At the heart of the home is a large dining table off the kitchen, perfect for a hearty breakfast or a relaxed evening gathering. The charming country-style kitchen, with bold red accents and mint-green cabinetry, adds warmth and personality. The kitchen features a traditional Aga range, an electric oven, a grill, induction hobs, and a washing machine in the boiler room.

With five individually styled bedrooms, there's plenty of room for everyone. The largest bedroom, a family bedroom on the ground floor, offers a kingsize bed, a double bed, and a single bed, alongside a modern en-suite shower room that provides easy access for less able guests.

Upstairs, you'll find a kingsize bedroom, a double bedroom, a single bedroom, and a children's room with bunk beds for the little ones. Two additional bathrooms with modern finishes – one with a bath and the other with a bath and shower over – complete the upper floor.

Externally, there are wonderful natural gardens wrapping all around the house, completely private with plenty of space to enjoy.

Located near the top of Scotland on the Moray coast, this property is just 10 minutes from the sea. The area is renowned for its many whisky distilleries, offering a range of distillery tours, workshops, and masterclasses, with the opportunity to take home a rare bottle or two. Notable local distilleries include Balvenie, Strathisla, and GlenDronach, though there are plenty more to discover on the famous Whisky Trail. (It's said the only thing stronger than the whisky is the warmth of the Scottish welcome!)

For a day trip, Loch Ness is just two hours away, offering breathtaking views, a visit to the historic Loch Ness Castle (where you can book tickets online), and the chance to take a boat trip across the loch, passing the castle and soaking in the history of the area.

The region is also home to several other beautiful castles and historical sites. For the adventurous, St Fillan's Cave in Fife and McGregor's Cave in Perth are must-see landmarks. You can also visit Shore Inn at Portsoy, famous for being featured in several episodes of Peaky Blinders, with plenty of photo opportunities around the pub. Take a pleasant walk around the harbour and indulge in a treat at the nearby Portsoy Ice Cream Shop.

Accessibility

Parking is available right outside the main door, with level entry to the interior and standard-width doorways. The entire ground floor is on one level, with double doors leading into the living room. The ground-floor family bedroom offers wide access to an en-suite shower room, which features an open shower enclosure with grab rails and a fold-out chair for added comfort. There is also ample space for wheelchair access to the dining table.

A brilliant family stay at White House Retreat in Banff!

We visited White House Retreat in early May as a family and it was, without question, a trip we'll be talking about for a long time. The house is absolutely stunning — full of personality, vibrant colours, and thoughtful touches throughout. The charming country kitchen with its bold red accents, mint-green cabinetry, and traditional Aga range quickly became the heart of our stay breakfasts here felt like a proper event. With three separate living areas spread across two floors, there was plenty of space for the kids to run around and for the adults to find a quiet corner when needed. The setting in Banff is beautiful. Private gardens wrapping around the house, glorious Scottish light pouring in, and the Moray coast just ten minutes away — it felt like a proper escape from the everyday. We explored the town, visited nearby castles, and the kids absolutely loved every moment of it. There's a wonderful sense of adventure just on the doorstep. One small thing worth mentioning — the heating in the downstairs bedroom wasn't working during our stay. It didn't spoil our trip at all since the mild early May weather was kind to us, but it's worth flagging and we'd hope the owners get it sorted for future guests. Apart from that, it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The kids are already asking when we're going back — and honestly, so are we. White House Retreat is a very special place.

Beautiful property - can't wait to go again!

We have had several family holidays here, we love the place. There’s lot of things to do in the area so you’re never bored, varying from restaurants, the scenery and the gin trails. The accommodation has everything that you could possibly want to relax and switch off and is so peaceful. It is private and secluded in the grounds of a castle. During our stays we’ve been lucky enough to see the Northern Lights and even wild deer sprinting through the gardens. Cannot recommend highly enough, it’s a must. Can’t wait to go again!

Loved our stay

The house was the perfect size for us. We noticed that the flower thing on the ceiling in the kitchen was really dusty and there was loads of random things in the cupboards in the bedrooms. Like nappies that had been left. And inco sheets. Loved the different ornaments around the house and the fact there was chess and dominos. The chess got brought out one night and played. We also spotted a deer whilst in the kitchen. Walking across the grass behind the bushes. And spotted 2 whilst coming up the driveway. Not have all the random stuff in cupboards that looks like it's stuff people left from previous visits.

Remote, Peace and Quiet

Very quirky house hidden away in the woods / forest a few 100meters from the main Rd. Stunning area of Scotland Lots of Beaches near and seaside Towns or Villages. Huge House fully equipped Lots of room to sit and relax in various Rooms at ground level. Spotted a dear in the woods. We were lucky with the weather as every day was glorious sunshine in mid/to late April. Perfect for multiple friends or large families as a base to explore the area. Outside Seating area or picnic table / patio chairs etc to appriciatete the warmer sunny days.
