We (group of 9 22 year olds) massively enjoyed our stay here, especially the facilities, nice patio area, good for BBQing. Little bit off the beaten track but that's part of the charm of Cornwall, easy enough to get to nearby towns. Spacious living area and plenty of room to dry clothes outside.
Thanks for a lovely holiday!
Our group stayed in both cottages over the half-term. The location was really nice and Week St Mary is a lovely village. The games room was a great addition, keeping the older kids busy.
Overall lovely, unfortunately the games room a little underwhelming due to the recent storm conditions and extreme rain which we realise is not something the owners could have predicted. All in all a great stay, would like to revisit in summer weather.
We have an excellent week. The cottages themselves were great; all the facilities we needed. We liked the location; in a quiet village and not too far a drive from the beaches.
Thank you. A great time has by all.
We really enjoyed our stay at Stable & Coach cottages and Gaynor & Simon we’re very welcoming hosts.
The cottages are a short drive from Bude and the beaches, but far enough from town that evenings are beautifully quiet. The walled garden is an amazing location for evening barbecues.
An added bonus is the games room where the kids loved playing pool.
Beautiful place with all you need for your Cornwall adventures
Great communication from start to finish.
Clean and tidy properties on arrival, with an abundance of household items to make it your home away from home. Games room to keep kids, both big and small entertained. Beautiful views with quiet country noises await while staying here. Beautiful beach 20 minutes away and driving distance to most of Cornwalls must visits.
The property was perfect as we were Nana, Son and Daughter-in-law, Daughter and 6 Grandchildren, 2 Newfoundlands and a Bocker (Beagle/cocker Spaniel). Plenty of space for all. Enclosed garden for children and dogs. In 15 minute reach of Summerleaze Beach. Clean, warm, comfortable and excellent thought given to every item needed by a family on holiday. Tremendous attention to detail. Host met us on arrival and had a chat before we left. Lovely lady.
We rented both cottages for two families. The cottages easily accommodated four adults and six lively teenagers. We were lucky enough to have excellent weather so were able to eat breakfasts in the sun in the back garden and evening meals in the sun in the front patio area. The garden furniture is great and we made full use of the games room. The cottages were warm and cosy in the evenings and there was adequate space in the kitchens to cook for 10 of us. Having two lounges was a bonus as we used one for reading (and GCSE revision) and one for noisy board games. Week St Mary is beautiful village located in an excellent position for trips to stunning beaches at Bude and Widemouth. We visited the local church on Easter Sunday morning and were made to feel most welcome. There are good walks from the cottage.
Communication with Gaynor was always easy, she responded very quickly to all emails and queries, both before and during our stay.
Cottages were very well presented and clean, all we needed to self cater for our group of 9 adults and teens. Most of the bedrooms are small however living space is generous with views across rolling hills to the sea. Location was delightful, very quiet and just 5 miles from the dog friendly Black Rock Beach at Widemouth Bay. Games room includes a freezer and washing machine. Pool and tables tennis plus a couple of barbeques, some windbreaks and other beach essentials. Walled garden is lovely; also secure for dogs and/or young children.
We had a lovely week here in the sunshine, I would recommend it to others without reservation.
Clean cottages, well equipped, walled garden and patio and games room. Superbly stocked shop a few hundred yards away, even dairy free things. Take aways avaliable two nights a week in the village. Playground near. Owner on hand if problems.
We had both cottages. If you had one, the outdoor facilities and games room are shared. Very small bunk and twin rooms but good size doubles. Tiny bathrooms.
We used both cottages and found then ideal for party which included young children
We found the kitchen and lounge areas very good to cook and relax, but ate outside in the courtyard most of the time , except when we had some rain and used the games room. A good location for visiting a number of local beaches, and the fish and chips van comes on a Thursday! Gaynor was available if we needed her and was there to meet and greet. We had a memorable holiday
Excellent property cosy and clean and well stocked with all you need, great having the pool table and ping pong kept the kids amused for ages, would come back again.
Loved these upside-down cottages, great living space for the family and comfy beds to retire to. Kitchen in coach cottage is a little small, but ovens are efficient and we were able to pull together Christmas dinner. Excellent host, very responsive prior to our stay and really helpful with the few questions we had during the stay.
Booking was easy. Hired both properties. Excellent cottages with added games room although games room was very cold and wet we had awful weather while here. Cottages were very clean warm and well equipped with everything we needed and more. Owners very helpful. Will definitely be coming back
Wow fantastic break away on motorbikes, super clean houses, new carpets and windows fully functional house with everything you can need, even had the weather too!, local shop walking distance away with everything needed, very looked after by Gaynor ☺️. This is highly recommended 👍🏻
this would be great for families with small children but isn't really big enough for lots of adults. Apart from the main double room in Stable cottage all the other bedrooms are very small, as are the shower rooms. The best feature were the new carpets throughout but the kitchens and shower rooms are functional but tired. If we had had good weather the outside space would have been fabulous
Great location, Lovely property with plenty of space.
We hired both cottages which was perfect for our two families of 4. Although they don’t interconnect it wasn’t a problem. The private garden was a bonus as was the games room. But the table tennis table could do with replacing but fine for the kids.
We found the property downstairs was a little damp, not massively but clothes and getting into bed just felt sort of clammy. Aside from this it is in an ideal location and we had a superb week. I would recommend for families. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. All in all a fab holiday in a perfect location.
Gaynor met us at the property and showed us round each one, was very accommodating and if there was anything further we need it would not be a problem
We all had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this property
Good central location for family gathering, ample space for everyone. Well equipped, the games room was a bonus. Warmly welcomed by Gaynor, the Christmas trees and chocolates was a lovely touch. Some nice walks locally and all enjoyed staying here. Thank you.

About the host
Hosted by Gaynor Cox
We have lived at Stewarts House running our cottages since 2000, having moved with our then young children from Sussex. It's a fantastic place to live and we feel privileged to be able to enjoy Cornwall all through the different seasons. We hope to offer guests an unspoiled part of Cornwall that we never take for granted.
Why they chose this property
Stewarts House is our home and we welcome guests to share and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this hidden part of Cornwall. When we first viewed the house, we were struck by the far reaching views stretching out across the valley towards Bude Bay. It is stunning and visitors always stop to admire the panoramic view. The cottages are situated in the grounds of our house and were converted from a stone built barn. Although we are in a rural village, we are fortunate to have a community run shop and post office and a community hall offering events and entertainment. There is a football pitch with local games and childrens play park with small skateboard ramp. The village was awarded Cornwall Village of the year 2009 by Calor Gas and has often been praised for its strong community spirit.
What makes this property unique
Stewarts House Holiday Cottages are only a 2 minutes walk from the village centre where you can buy all your provisions, especially freshly baked bread from our local baker and the daily newspaper. Taking a peaceful morning stroll to buy your breakfast provisions is all part of the fun. In the spring time, the hedgerows are alive with colour and we have dark skies at night with no light pollution. Our roads are quiet even in the high season period, you shouldn't get too caught up in the crowds and we are only a 10-15 minute drive to our local beaches. A friendly welcome and onsite help when needed, good accommodation ( to a three star standard), plenty of space, onsite parking, peace and tranquility are what we can offer at Stewarts House Holiday Cottage.
