About this property

Modern yet cozy houseboat

My houseboat is a lovely, quiet and comfortable place to stay in Amsterdam, close to Carré Theater, Hermitage, Hortus Botanicus, Artis Zoo, and lots of other famous tourist places and last but not least the Amstel river. Enjoy Amsterdam from within!

The houseboat consists of a tastefull bedroom, a modern bathroom, a luxurious kitchen and a warm, comfortable living room with a beautifull canal view. (Officially the rental space is limited to the bedroom and bathroom). Enjoy the view and lovely atmosphere in the quiet historic neighbourhood!

My place is a very stable, solidly constructed and well maintained houseboat. I like to share my boat with guests from all over the world, because it's such a unique and typical Amsterdam way of living.

Perfect location - iconic accommodation

Albert greeted us when we arrived and showed us around the houseboat. Excellent accommodations with a small outdoor patio to watch the ducks on the canal. Excellent location, central to all. Perfect stay.

The houseboat is beautifully appointed on a quiet section of the canal. It was unfortunate there was construction but that was not Albert's fault.

wonderful houseboat!

What a lovely houseboat! The house was well equipped with everything you'd need. The porch is wonderful to sit on and look at the passing boats, sunsets, and swans. The bed was very comfortable, would definitely recommend staying here!

Everything about the boat was as advertised! A perfect retreat after a day exploring Amsterdam, very well situated and amazing views. Albert, the host, could not have been kinder or more helpful. We hope to enjoy his hospitality again soon!

Wonderful way to experience Amsterdam

This houseboat was a beautiful way to enjoy Amsterdam yo the fullest. Warm and comfortable and so fun to enjoy morning coffee looking out at the water. Great location close to transportation and all the sites. Our hosts made us feel welcome and made the whole experience very easy. Highly recommend if you want to truly enjoy Amsterdam to the fullest!

The comforts of house

When you walk in the the houseboat you can tell that every detail was thought out to make your stay easy. The rooms are beautifully decorated. The deck porch area charming. Easy access to museums and restaurants. The owner was delightful and easy to contact. We were sad to say goodbye. Many thanks A.

Lovely stay!

We stayed for a long weekend on the houseboat and absolutely loved it. Everything you can think of is provided and it’s warm, clean, and comfortable. Marco was great at giving us a lot of info before arriving and was extremely helpful and friendly. The location is also excellent, close to lots of restaurants, bars etc and a shop close by, and the centre is easily walkable in about 15/20 mins. I would highly recommend staying here, thank you for a lovely weekend on your houseboat Marco! 😊

Would stay no where else

Albert is the best host. He greeted us when we arrived with fresh tulips and showed us how everything worked. He helped us navigate the two biggest celebrations in Amsterdam. The houseboat is clean, very modern with all of the modern conveniences.... including heated bathroom floors. We will be back again.

Enjoy a perfect stay in the cozy houseboat!

We spent two nights aboard the lovely houseboat, Orpheus. It was so fun! We enjoyed sitting on the little deck and raising a glass of wine to all the passing boats. It is just as pictured and we will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Amsterdam. Everything from check-in to our last meal aboard went smoothly. It is stocked with anything you could possibly need and very clean. The notebook of information on the bookshelf was very thorough and super useful to plan our activities. Can not recommend this location and amazing host highly enough! Fabulous!

Most amazing place

This was our last stop on a long european vacation. We stayed in some really nice places; but hands down nothing compared to this! Such a once in a lifetime, location! It is decorated with style and warmth. The kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils to easily cook. I can not say enough nice things about Albert, absolutely every communication i had with him was lovely. He was so helpful! His response was always timely and warm. You can tell he cares a great deal about his gest. I cant wait to come back!

Canal Boat Haven

We thought when we booked a canal boat that we would give up amenities to have the experience and the view. Not so with Albert’s wonderful canal boat. The boat was bigger inside than we expected. The temperature was always comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed. The bedroom was very comfy. The chance to sit outside on the deck and have morning coffee and afternoon wine was a huge bonus. Albert was great with communication. Highly recommend.

Fantastic Stay and Experience

If you are reading this review and considering this property, BOOK IT NOW! Albert and Anna are extraordinarily gracious hosts, and staying on their houseboat is an experience you will remember forever. Clean, comfortable and cozy, this fully-stocked home boasts a huge adjustable bed (US equivalent of King), a location that is convenient to metro transit and taxi but close enough to walk almost anywhere. And then, there is the view. Sigh! Amazing place with amazing hosts, we will book next time if at all possible. Wish I could give 6 stars. Fantastic!!!

Albert is a wonderful communicator and has taken great care to pay attention to detail. The heated bathroom floors were one of our favorite details, but also the porch is a perfect slice of charm, the milk frother for the coffee is a lovely touch, the hidden tv (with Netflix), a great book of neighborhood suggestions…and the bed was very comfortable and large (which is a rare luxury in the area). We can’t wait to stay again next year.

A great experience

What a treat to stay on this houseboat on the canal. The early mornings and evenings were especially calm and peaceful. It was definitely a great way to experience Amsterdam. In addition, the host was wonderful, it’s a short walk to public transit, plenty of places to eat nearby, or you may just decide to sit on the deck and watch the world go by.

Quiet nights

Beautiful houseboat in a very quiet residential area. Still close to walk across the Amstel. Nice to see the boats on the canal passing by. Would definitely recommend for a peaceful stay.

Houseboat is in a wonderful location, nicely appointed, clean, and comfortable. My only comment is that the heating system could use some simple directions to help guests, although it is possible that I simply didn't find them. Overall, wonderful stay! Bill

Orpheus boat stay

Albert, the host, was phenomenal from the date we booked the canal boat and all through our stay with tips and recommendations. Location allowed us to walk everywhere in Amsterdam.

Can’t beat staying on a houseboat!

What a special experience for our family to stay on a houseboat in Amsterdam! Easy check in, great communication with the host, beautiful house that was cozy but so well set up for a small space. Primary bedroom was very comfortable, and our girls (5 and 9) loved the pull out couch and waving to passing boats. Would 100% recommend!!

Great location and super unique!

My father and I stayed for a couple nights to end our European tour and it was lovely. Check in was a breeze and communication during the process was excellent. Short walk to public transit, museums, city center. Sitting out in the terrace with my dad watching boats go by was so enjoyable!

Great location on the canal

'We are seniors well into our 70's and 80's. Our stay in this splendid houseboat was exactly what we were hoping for. Comfortable house, convenient location, convenient public transportation, and a canal that provided daily enjoyable boat-watching. Our host was very responsive..meeting us at our arrival and answering questions during our stay.

Great Little Houseboat

Cozy and comfy houseboat with everything you need. The owner was very accommodating and maintained communication to you ensure we enjoyed our stay. We arrived on a Thursday and our first night was relaxing. However, party goers from Friday night lead to a 2am awakening to yelling and screaming on Saturday morning. We would still return here next time we're in Amsterdam.
