Host & Stay | Spyglass 1708
Summary:
Settled in the heart of Whitby, Spyglass 1708 is a truly unique holiday home on the North Yorkshire coast. The beautiful Grade II listed property was once a former sea captain’s house, so it is rich in history and character. Today, it is a boutique townhouse packed with charm and style. Sleeping up to 4 guests, Spyglass 1708 is ideal for families or groups of friends looking for a unique break in the centre of Whitby.
The Space:
Set over three floors, this stunning holiday home has everything you could need for a coastal retreat. Lovingly designed by Yorkshire-based interior designer, Rachel Mclane, there is a distinctive country-chic style which flows perfectly throughout the property. You’ll find the open plan living, dining and kitchen area on the second floor so guests can enjoy incredible views from the double Georgian windows. St Hilda’s Abbey can be seen in the distance amongst the landscape of Whitby rooftops. Make a cup of tea, sit back, relax and watch the world go by. You’ll instantly feel at home in the warm and tranquil space. Switch on the flat screen TV and kick back on the comfy sofa after a long day of exploring Whitby or lose yourself in one of the many books which line the bookshelf. The lounge area follows onto the cottage-style kitchen and dining area. The clean and stylish kitchen is equipped with an oven, hob, toaster, fridge freezer, microwave, coffee machine, washing machine and dishwasher. The dining area is ideal for cosy family breakfasts and evening meals. On the floor beneath, you’ll find the master bedroom. The beautiful double room is a peaceful space with purple tartan accents. Elegant wall lights and a luxury bed add a contemporary twist, making the room feel like an extravagant boutique hotel. Next door is the main bathroom. This modern space is complete with a large walk in shower and a his and hers vanity unit. Head to the top floor and you’ll discover the second bedroom which is set within the eaves of the building. The quirky space features twin beds and the same funky purple tartan touches. The sky light windows boast beautiful views, including Whitby Abbey on the East Cliff in the distance. There is also an en-suite WC.
