Everything was as advertised. The view of Signal Hill and Cabot Tower from the 3rd floor balcony was spectacular. Walking distance from all the restaurants on Water St. and steps away from Jelly Bean Row.
Great location, Ample parking, Owner was very responsive to questions prior and during visit. And... really comfy bed...Overall: would recommend and stay there again.
The property is in a great location and has a number of bedrooms so is perfect for a large group. We were looking for an authentic St. John’s experience so the home was perfect for us over a hotel.
Very nice and quiet place to stay in a nice neighborhood very close to the beach. Everything was so lovely and so cozy. Although our stay was short, we look forward to staying at Miriam’s place on our next visit!

Our family enjoyed our trip to Newfoundland and the house itself is in a fantastic location with alot of historic heritage character. However, for a rental priced at 600 a night (With Fees), we expected the amenities - particulkary the kitchen - tobe in fully working order.Unfortunately, we ran into several issues during our stay. The main electrical outlet by the kitchen did not work (leaving one functiuonal plug by stove wall), the kitchen faucet leaked, the built-in microwave didn't work (though a countertop replacement was provided, the coffee maker broke down, and the dishwasher left dishes in sediment rendering it unusable. We were given a used dirty sponge - no discloths to wash dishes with, Things that were advertised..Shampoo, coffee, water was lacking.I privately brought these issues to the host, we were told they were aware of these problem and were waiting for a slow time to fix them. While we understand older heritage homes come with quirks, paying peak rates means guyest should be informed in advance rather than discovering them upon arrival and honestly feel these problems should of been addressed before we arrived. With some maitenance, this could easilky be a great place to stay!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m very glad to hear your family enjoyed your trip to Newfoundland and appreciated the home’s location and historic character, that’s something we’re very proud of.
I also appreciate you bringing these maintenance items to my attention. You’re correct that the built-in microwave is currently out of service, which is why we’ve provided a full-size countertop microwave that functions without any limitations. Similarly, one kitchen outlet is not operational, but there are several other working outlets throughout the kitchen, and the appliances have been arranged so the coffee maker, Keurig, kettle, and microwave can all be used without issue.
You’re also right that the kitchen faucet has a small leak, and it’s being addressed. As a 130-year-old heritage home, occasional maintenance items do arise, and we work hard to resolve them as quickly as possible while preserving the character that makes the home unique. At the same time, we’ve invested significantly in modernizing the property, including renovated bathrooms, updated bedrooms, and other improvements throughout the home to ensure guests have a comfortable stay.
I’m sorry to hear you couldn’t locate the dishcloths—they were stocked in the kitchen drawer—and I’ll make their location more obvious for future guests. I’ll also review your comments regarding the coffee supplies, water, and other amenities to ensure everything is consistently stocked.
Thanks
Lovely old house in great location with a spectacular view of the harbour and Signal Hill. Clean, comfortable, fully functional kitchen, plenty of room for our group of six. Host was quick and easy to contact and always helpful. Highly recommended. Thank you Mike and Steph!
The house is definitely well located. Easy walk to Water street and the bars and restaurants. Two good bakeries in the neighborhood.
Check in was very easy.
Stayed with 4 friends in this beautiful row house.
It is in a great location....amazing views from every window...especially from the top deck!!
The host was available within minutes whenever there were any questions.
Checking in and out went very smoothly. I would definitely stay here again!
Authentic little St. John’s roughhousing super cute we had a blast. It was a perfect situation for our party of nine. We walked downtown every night to parking areas. Everything was perfect.
The Narrows is a heritage house, complete with all the character and charm we love. It is very clean and complete with everything you would need. And a view of signal hill to boot! Just a few short blocks to all the shops and fun of downtown St. John’s. Michael is a very responsive host and easy to communicate with. Would highly recommend both property and host!

Thanks so much :) We appreciated your stay and feedback so very much. We really pride ourselves in providing a good experience. Glad you enjoyed!
We had the most lovely time with amazing views, accommodation and touring around with some friends and our baby who had never been to Newfoundland.
A nostalgic and emotional stay made all the better by this beautiful and classic saltbox home. Grateful and happy to have found it and huge thankyou to Mike and Steph who were extradordinary and quick to respond with every ask. Thank you and LMYBJD
Check in was right on and easy. In general the kitchen facilities, the dishwasher needs some attention and the racks changed as looked rusty, it was also very lose and rocky under the counter. A spatula would be nice. We replaced the ice trays. A pair of scissors and ice cream scoop.
Beautiful home with views of the Narrows and Signal Hill. Centrally located, just steps from the Rooms and all the activity on Water and George Streets, with just enough hills to walk off the excellent food. En suite master with a birdseye view of Signal, Hill, and a lovely deck. Home is spacious throughout, with a well appointed kitchen. Host is responsive and full of good suggestions - and the house is just around the corner from the Postmaster’s Bakery - did I mention those handy, guilt erasing hills.
Old typical postcard type St John’s house. Excellent location as it is an easy walk down to the pubs and restaurants, ( uphill back!). Nice view of the harbour from the upstairs and kitchen. Good bbq. Great bakery a block away. Street parking in front of the house and we found a another place to park our second car less than a block away. Rooms are quite spacious . It is an old house so floors can be a little funky and uneven, but that adds to the charm. Great house to use as a base to explore St John’s .
This place is perfectly situated for exploring St. John’s. There were six adults in our group, and there was plenty of room for all of us. We only ate dinner in a couple of nights, but had what we needed to create meals.
Bring your own toiletries (shampoo etc.), and might have to get coffee.
The beds were very comfortable, and we enjoyed relaxing in the living room.
Fantastic upper deck and the third floor suite is really nice.
No plug-in the upstairs bathroom. Would recommend a mirror above the desk where there is a plug for people drying their hair and doing make-up.
We would definitely stay there again!
