About this property
Historic Home in the Heart of Downtown Beaufort's 'Old Point'
4 bedroom historic home in the heart of Downtown Beaufort.
This 4 bedroom, 3 bath historic home sits in the heart of Downtown Beaufort's prestigious 'Old Point'. Built in the late 1800's, this house is part of Beaufort's history, and is only 3 short blocks from the Waterfront Park, as well as shopping, art galleries, restaurants and attractions of downtown. If you stay at 608 North Street, you will be in the perfect location to experience the best of Beaufort.
The home has been completely restored with a fully equipped kitchen, limestone tile, heart pine floors, new stainless steel appliances, and impressive antiques from Bali and Indonesia. The large master suite features a king bed, private bathroom with whirlpool tub, and a private sitting area. The 2nd upstairs bedroom has a king and single bed. The 3rd upstairs bedroom has two twin beds, and one queen bed. The 4th bedroom downstairs has a king bed. Wireless internet and cable TV are included.
Three large porches provide great spots to admire the beautiful low country scenery and watch the horse drawn carriage rides pass. A short walk is Beaufort's newly renovated Waterfront Park, complete with a playground, which provides the perfect location for an afternoon of enjoyment.
Hunting Island State Park and public boat ramps are all easily accessible, and Charleston, Hilton Head, or Savannah are close enough for day trips.
Staying at 608 North Street will truly be an experience that cannot be matched by a hotel, condo, or any other rental home.
While this home has been completely renovated, if you are someone who is expecting new, flawless construction and prefers a hotel room or suite over a historic property, this is probably not the home for you. This house was built almost 200 years ago, and it does have imperfections that are typical of historic homes in the Beaufort and Charleston areas. We think these imperfections are what makes the home special.

About the host
Hosted by Elizabeth Christmus
Welcome to Beaufort! We are a couple that resides in nearby Columbia, South Carolina, who fell in love with the coastal town feel of Beaufort. We were lucky enough to come across this beautiful home in the historic Old Point of Beaufort in need of renovation. It took awhile, but we lovingly restored this home, while ensuring that its original character stayed intact. It was a great deal of work, but well worth the effort! This is truly a one of a kind property, and we're thrilled to have the opportunity to share it with other families!
Why they chose this property
Beaufort, SC has always been a place I would visit with our family. Our parents took us here when we were children, and we brought our children to Beaufort when they were young. We don't care for the 'touristy' locations that are overcrowded in SC, and we love the beauty, history, and beaches, in Beaufort. We chose to purchase this particular home because we love to restore historic houses, and this was an opportunity we could not pass up! This home was built around the turn of the 20th century, and was once the old North Street Aquarium. We saw the potential, and it was in a great location being within walking distance of the water, shops, and restaurants. We ended up having to replace porches, walls, ceilings (it was quite the renovation project!), but with a lot of work and time, we were able to renovate the home to the beautiful state it is in now. This house is truly one of a kind, and a part of Beaufort's history, and we are glad that we can share this with you!
What makes this property unique
Staying in our home, you will have a vacation experience like none other in Beaufort. There are three porches where you can relax, enjoy the breeze, read a book, or watch the carriage tours pass by, and our house is within walking distance of everything downtown. Our family loves to take walks around the Old Point at dusk and watch the sunset over the water. You can have morning coffee at one of the cafes on the street as you walk to the waterfront park, as well as shop and eat at the local restaurants, tour historic Beaufort... all without having to drive anywhere! We also offer the option to call in a pass to either Harbor Island or Fripp Island, if you want to spend a day at one of the gorgeous beaches. You won't find a better location to explore all that Beaufort has to offer!
