Stunning views, lovely peaceful location.

A lovely villa, a short walk out of the village of Gennadi. Being up a hill, the views are to die for but it can get a bit windy, especially in the afternoons. The villa has a large back garden ideal for children and half the pool is shallow. The villa was very clean and comfortable and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Could be a fantastic villa! Just needs some TLC

We stayed for two weeks in August. Firstly I would like to say that we had a lovely holiday but the villa could have been better, but most of our issues are quite easily rectified. I’m pretty certain the owner doesn’t actually visit the property often so is unaware of the maintenance or cleanliness of the villa. Before you book a few extra details you may want to know, the villa is in a beautiful position far enough away from other villas to be pretty private although you do get cars driving past to get to there villas which goes past the pool and outside dining table. Although it’s only a 15 minute walk to the village (great restaurants and bakery shops etc) it is all uphill (some steep) gravel roads. Beach is even further. The pool and outside areas are well maintained, although the sun beds are stained and faded and had a missing sun umbrella. The main issues were inside, Probably the most concerning for us was the obvious lack of maintenance or servicing on the air conditioning units, that had black mould growing on them, this can cause health problems with anyone with asthma or lung problems (I did report this but had no reply back) We had virtually no internet (last guests had used all of the allocation) although there is very good 4g we didn’t have enough gig to last for the two weeks and ended up buying more. The owner however is now changing to a better service. We did ask if there was more than one pillow per person the ones supplied were old and extremely thin, we were given extra ones. Dishwasher and washing machine were fine but the clothes airer outside was old and rusty (not good to get rush stains on white clothes!) kitchen showed the signs of being ten years old. Cupboards had old out of date food in them, the drawers were a real mess with stuff, kitchen equipment etc just thrown in, there wasn’t one cupboard that we could use for our food. We also got a smell quite a lot from somewhere in/under the kitchen cupboards. The sofa and chairs had sunlotion stains on them, drawers were full of leaflets nothing was particularly clean or tidy. Best view was from the twin bedroom, no view from main bedroom but it did have a balcony (unfortunately not enough light in the evening to read from there) Beds were extremely comfortable but the towels were old stained and thin. Shower leaked and flooded the floor each time. No weekly clean but still advertised. Owner hasn’t replied to the majority of our issues but has offered £100 compensation

Great place, lovely people

I spent 2 weeks in Gennadi together with my family and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. I particularly appreciated having the pool close when the weather became unbearably hot (July). The beach in the village is very stony, so not that great and all the sandy beaches are very busy. The villa is close enough to the village so we could do our food shopping in an extremely well-stocked shop and excellent bakery (Maria who speaks Swedish was very helpful) and the evenings were spent mostly at the restaurants (fabulous food) and bars that also were of top standard. The Lab was our favourite spot - thanks to Nikos! It is important to know before coming to the villa that the road leading to it from the village is unpaved and uphill, so it's not so great for caring stuff up on foot, especially in the extreme heat of the summer months. The villa is fresh and of a generous size, but we all felt that some improvements could do it good. Most importantly, we had virtually no Internet! The ad for the villa said that we would get 10MB Internet and we had about 0.2 Mb. Not OK at all, especially with 2 teenagers and people who need to check their emails for work. The downstairs bathroom shower is very small and the mixer is so big that we kept hitting it. We all lacked storage space in the bathroom - a simple shelf would do. The kitchen has everything needed, but it's not comfortable to use - too low and the sink/dishwasher are in the wrong spot. It gets extremely hot outside during the day, so a second sun shade is needed. We all burnt out feet on the concrete around the pool! However, overall, we enjoyed Rhodes so much that we would gladly come back any time. Efharisto!!

Tranquil, peaceful, beautiful setting

Really great villa, all you could want for your stay in the beautiful island of Rhodes. The villa enjoys stunning views of the ocean and is so peaceful all day long. Village of Gennadi is really good. Great bakery, shops, Mamas Kitchen has super food, everything really cheap but good quality. I look forward to going back again some time.

Sehr schönes Haus mit tollem Blick.

Das Haus ist sehr schön und gut aufgeteilt. Die Einrichtung ist sehr ordentlich und die Betten bequem. Der Pool ist im Sommer sehr gut zum Abkühlen, jetzt Ende Oktober war es dann doch arg frisch. Dann lieber Meer, das hatte noch erträgliche Temperaturen. Apropos Meer, hier ist die Glystra Bucht sehr zu empfehlen. Klein, sauber, mit schönem Sand. Zum Haus: es liegt oberhalb des Ortes, der aber zu Fuß über einen Schotterweg in 10 min zu erreichen ist. Etwas festere Schuhe sind ratsam. Einige Kleinigkeiten waren nicht ganz in Ordnung, deshalb einen Stern Abzug. Sat-Anlage ist etwas marode (Kabel) und nach Techniker-Besuch war dann wenigstens 1 deutscher Kanal empfangbar. DVD-Spieler war defekt. Aber Fernsehen kann ich auch zuhause. Lieber auf der Terasse sitzen, Retsina genießen und Bauernsalat oder herzhafte Teigtaschen aus der Bäckerei im Ort dazu essen. Gasgrill machte keinen vertrauenserweckenden Eindruck und war auch völlig vergammelt. Gas war auch leer. Dann lieber einen simplen Kohlegrill mit Rost, auch wenn man selber Kohlen besorgen muss. Wir haben dann mehrmals das gute Essen in Mama's Kitchen genossen. Leckere Tavernenküche für kleines Geld. Bis zum Beginn der Saison sollte man mal einen Komplettcheck machen und sich der Defekte und nötigen kleinen Reparaturen annehmen, dann ist die Villa Mamma Mia uneingeschränkt für einen schönen Urlaub etwas abseits vom Massentourismus zu empfehlen.

We spent 2 weeks in September in this house. It's a very nice house with a fantastic view and you can easily walk to the beach (1200 meters). You can also walk to the village and buy fresh bread in the morning (600) meters.

Spent a fabulous 2 week vacation at Villa Mama Mia. Excellent peaceful setting with superb views. The villa itself is well appointed with excellent facilities. Support from the owner and local maintenance team was excellent throughout. Would highly recommend this villa.

Villa Mama Mia

The villa is set just back from the bustling village of Gennadi, so peace and quiet were absolutely guaranteed. The villa was very well equipped - even a hairdryer for our teenagers!! and the WiFi worked perfectly. The beds were really comfortable too! The supermarket and bakery in the village were both excellent, it was great not having to go miles for morning croissants and spinach pies. There are a number of really excellent tavernas in the local villages - the stand out ones for us were the two Tavernas in Vati and one in Lachania. Our favourite beach was Stegna - the combination of nice sand and lovely rocks to swim to and the gin clear water teaming with fish was worth the drive - and the added bonus of great fish tavernas. Tsampika was also a good beach - we all went parasailing - so can tick that off the bucket list now! The beach bars are good too! Our only disappointment was being ripped off by the fish restaurant in Plimmeri - more expensive than a pricey London restaurant .. and the food was OK but not outstanding which at 269 euros for 5 people it should have been! .. never been ripped off before in 20 years of visiting Greece: that said the people of Rhodes were the kindest nicest people you could meet. Lindos and Rodos are both well worth a visit too. We had such a good holiday!

As good as it looks!

Other reviews say it all really. Lovely Villa finished to a high standard. We're a family of 5 with 3 teenagers (almost) and it accomodated us well, with plenty of space to play together or have quiet time alone. Gennardi is a nice little town, beach is good, beautiful to swim in, local restaurants are very friendly with good food and good prices. Nikos and Marias Souvlaki Place is a delight, say hello to Dimitri! The welcome pack was a nice touch and welcome with our late arrival, coffee, couple of beers and wine etc. The owners guide to the island is really good, with some great recommendations on beaches and restaurants. Would agree with the internet comment, its gets slow when you've used your allocation, but getting away from the virtual world is no bad thing when you have this Island to explore. Comms from Piotr were very good and timely, no issues at all, would book again with confidence. Thanks Piotr!

Wonderful views with secluded areas but not remote

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Mamma Mia. There were a few issues to begin with that Colum and Gayle sorted out for us such as a beach sun umbrella that was well past it's sell by date (Colum got us a proper metal one that should last several seasons - much larger and heavier material so more shade), a hammock that was rotten and ripped first go (and no my husband isn't that heavy!) and a broken mosquito net in the main bedroom (sorted during our first week.) Colum and Gayle also got us extra mugs. plates and even a teapot that I (tongue in cheek) asked for. They were brilliant and do a great job of managing the property. The only item Colum couldn't get for us, despite trying several places, was a safe. Given that we were advised to take cash this was a bit of a concern but we just spread our money around in various places. This is something that I felt the villa really needed because although all the windows have metal shutters you are very vulnerable if you keep the key in the box by the front door. The shallow end of the swimming pool 0.6m covers about a third of its length so if you are looking for a pool to keep fit and do lengths in, this isn't the one for you. However it is great for cooling off, reading a book under the umbrella while sitting in the shallow end, or even playing a game of volley ball - put the weak players at the shallow end and the good ones at the deep end and it makes for a great game! It's also plenty big enough to have people lounging on several air-beds at the same time. Upstairs the terrace of the main bedroom is a delight - enough room for several chairs and sun loungers. The outside light is very dim there so you can't unfortunately play card games after dusk. We could do this on the downstairs patio (and see our food to eat it) once the lights were changed for stronger ones. Downstairs there is also a really comfy hammock on the patio and the other hammocks under the trees are great for relaxing siestas in the shade. There are plenty of areas in the garden for relaxing but in some areas you feel a bit exposed (Plants are being grown to give more privacy.) There will be less privacy if the villa next door is completed and no plants or hedging are put up along that wall. The villa is very well designed and although there is no microwave the cooking facilities are adequate. The bedrooms and living areas are really comfy. A wonderful place to stay, relax - secluded but not remote. We would definitely go again.

A very relaxing stay in a lovely Greek village

A well equipped villa with extensive views of the sea in a quite location but within walking distance of the village centre. The information in the villa was informative for the areas to visit, especially Taverna Chrisima, an exceptionally wonderful evening with good food and the most beautiful sunset. The only small downside was the WiFi. It has limited data availability and if used up the speeds become very slow. In my opinion, I would prefer to pay a little extra and have full utilisation of the internet in todays society of social interaction. Other than that small area, my wife and I had a truly amazing time and will be recommending it to our family and friends.

Amazing place!

Beautiful villa with amazing views. Close to local village, supermarket, butchers, greengrocers and bakery! Not far from the sea either. Pool was cleaned 3 times a week and had a nice welcome pack on our arrival (wine, coffe, snacks etc). Very clean and comfortable. Would advise staying to anyone!

A lovely villa, well presented, great views.

Villa Mamma Mia is a contemporary style villa located in spacious grounds in a quiet location. The village of Gennardi is small but has everything you need including some nice tavernas. We followed a number of the owners recommendations and found some fantastic quiet beaches as well as some great restaurants. Overall a great holiday and I would recommend the villa to a family wanting a quiet location but close enough to Lindos to go for a day trip. Although not on the list of recommended trips we went on the glass bottom boat trip from Pefkos which was great value for money and the kids loved it!

Une villa de qualité......

Nous avons passé une superbe semaine dans cette villa de prestations haut de gamme.... Tout était parfait. La villa était très propre, calme, quelques produits nous attendaient a l arrivée. Très pratique lorsque l on arrive tard. La piscine est sécurisée pour les enfants. Je vous conseille la taverne pélican qui propose de produits excellents et très frais.

Contemporary and good location June 2014

This is a high standard private villa in a very quiet location. It was nice and clean on arrival.The villa is quite contemporary, which we were looking for. Views are as described and we followed the owners advice on trips and things to do which was very useful to a first timer in Rhodes. Fittings and furnishings inside are very nice. Outside furniture was slightly worn but quite acceptable, some will need replacing shortly, nice pool but although it is a good size, it has a long shallow end.. Any minor problems were quickly sorted by the friendly and efficient (Scots) caretaker Gayle. The villa is up quite a long dirt track. You dont need a 4x4, its reasonably smooth ,but just be aware of it. You can walk into Gennadi in ten minutes -15 minutes back. Gennadi is a great local village with nice inexpensive cafes and a great bakery, open all hours. Locally baked bread and Greek sweets."Effis Dream" and "Mammas Kichen" recommended. The owner is helpful and all communications were fine. I was worriedabout the money transfer but there were no problems. There is lots to do but you definately need a car.Rhodes is a lot nicer,and quieter at this end of the Island. Does it look like the pictures?- yes. Would we go back-yes.

Maison très agréable, avec une belle piscine et vue sur la mer. La description est conforme a ce que l'on trouve sur place. Maison propre et piscine nettoyé régulièrement. Il y a 2 lits bébés et une chaise haute. La maison est plutôt située dans la partie sud, il faut compter 1h15 pour aller visiter la vieille ville de Rhodes. Nombreux restaurant à proximité (n'hésitez pas à Vati le pelecanos !!!), , mini market ouvert tous les jours, boulangerie Pour améliorer le confort un micro onde pourrait être installé.

Beautiful villa in Stunning location!!

The booking process and information prior to our arrival was very smooth. We arrived late at night after a long drive from Rhodes airport and immediately knew we had picked the right place for our two weeks of relaxation. The villa itself has everything you could possibly want. As there was only 2 of us we only really used the upstairs bed and bath rooms. The large balcony from the master bedroom was a fantastic place to enjoy a morning cuppa and watch the sun rise! The open plan living areas downstairs were extremely well equipped and very comfortable, with easy access to the veranda and pool area, both of which are spacious and well maintained. The villa sits on a corner plot some distance from only a few nearby villas. The road is unused other than the few villas along it and therefore lots of peace and quiet. None of the areas are overlooked and the views to the town and the bay are absolutely unspoilt. It's a bit of a drive to/from Rhodes itself but with lots to see on the southern half of the island we didn't even feel the need to venture that far. It's easy to drive over to the west coast with its rocky coastline and beautiful views and up and down the east coast road takes in some nice beaches, interesting villages, good restaurants and Lindos probably one of the most beautiful towns you'll visit. Gennadi is very much a local town, not at all touristy but extremely welcoming and feels safe to wander around with a good supermarket, butchers, fruit/veg shop and a lovely bakery for fresh bread and cakes! There are. Selection of nice bars/restaurants and then not too far away on the coast road there are some more nice restaurants. We ate at Mourella on our last night and had we found it earlier would have definitely revisited - lovely food, relaxed al fresco areas, very cute cat and the mixed dips starter was fantastic! Days spent undisturbed by the pool and sat looking out over the bay on the swinging lounger and dining areas meant we could completely relax and unwind. Villa Mamma mia is well-maintained, provides an excellent customer service and can be recommended to everyone looking for comfortable but quiet holidays.If the pool had been warmer,18°C is not much,we surely would come again. Mamma Mia!!

In early July we have spent ten wonderful days in this beautiful villa. Mamma Mia has everything your heart desires. On the ground floor is a beautiful spacious kitchen with a large living area, a bathroom and a bedroom. Above are two more bedrooms and a bathroom. Everything is very neat and clean and very modern. Outside is a large terrace with a large table and chairs and a porch swing. The pool is large and very clean. Several times a week someone comes and cleans the pool. The landlord does not live near there. But he is always available and takes care of promptly to concerns and wishes. The villa is in a quiet surrounding side, slightly away from the village of Gennadi. You just need to walk 10 minutes to the small village center where you will find everything you need. A bakery, a supermarket, a vegetable shop and several restaurants and bars. We liked the restaurant Mama's Kitchen the best, always good food and not very expensive. The villa I can absolutely recommend to anyone looking for some peace away from the tourists. We had a rental car and went in different directions to see Greece every day. Gennadi is ideal as a start for excursions, there are interesting things to see overall. Wir haben Anfang Juli zehn wunderschöne Tage in dieser herrlichen Villa verbracht. Mamma Mia hat alles, was das Herz begehrt. Im Erdgeschoss ist eine schöne große Küche mit großem Wohnbereich, ein Bad und ein Schlafzimmer. Oben sind zwei weitere Schlafzimmer und auch ein Bad. Alles ist sehr ordentlich und sauber und sehr modern. Außen ist eine große Terrasse mit großem Tisch und Stühlen sowie eine Hollywoodschaukel. Der Pool ist groß und sehr sauber. Mehrmals in der Woche kommt jemand und pflegt den Pool. Der Vermieter wohnt nicht dort in der Nähe. Er ist aber jederzeit erreichbar und kümmert sich umgehend um Sorgen und Wünsche. Die Villa liegt wunderbar ruhig, etwas abseits vom Dorf Gennadi. Zu Fuß braucht man genau 10 Minuten bis ins kleine Dorfzentrum, wo sich alles befindet, was man benötigt. Ein Bäcker, ein Supermarkt, ein Gemüsehandel und mehrere Restaurants und Bars. Uns hat das Restaurant Mamas Kitchen am besten gefallen, immer gutes Essen und nicht sehr teuer. Ich kann die Villa also absolut jedem empfehlen, der etwas Ruhe sucht und abseits vom Tourismus Griechenland kennenlernen möchte. Wir hatten einen Mietwagen und sind jeden Tag in verschiedene Richtungen gefahren, um Griechenland zu sehen.

a wonderful villa with spectacular seaview

we had a wonderful time in the villa mamma mia. all comfort was provided. there was a large terras with spectacular seaviews and goats before the property! it was very quiet. it was very hot during our stay but fortunately the airconditioning worked well and the swimming pool was very refreshing. nearby there was a bakery and supermarket, always open and a few nice restaurants, mama's kitchen and poppys. the only minus was the gravel road full of holes but we had rented a jeep! a villa to recommend to anyone who likes the quietness of south rhodes en wants to enjoy this tranquility with a glass of wine on the terras while looking to the sea!
