Possible Fraudulent Listing
I made this reservation based on how close it was on a map to my original reservation (which had to be canceled due to storm damage at that location). In my reservation conversation, I asked the host a question about birding guides but received no response. This should have been my first clue that something was hinky. On our way to Costa Rica, our hotel shuttle van crashed, and my husband and I sustained injuries (cuts, bruises, and hematomas, along with cracked ribs). After arriving in Costa Rica, I realized I was in no shape to make long drives over bumpy roads due to my injuries. I tried contacting the host through the VRBO app again but received no response. I contacted VRBO, and they said they would contact the host on my behalf, asking the host to refund my money. The host did not reply to VRBO or to me. Three days prior to our check-in date, we received the generic 'Here are the Keys' email through VRBO--but there was NO INFORMATION about the stay or how to get there. It was a form letter with no information. When we returned to the United States, I tried a third time, to contact the hosts through VRBO. Nothing. I found another email address buried at the bottom of an email, and tried that one. Someone responded and claimed they had 'problems with VRBO' and had no record of my reservation, and wondered if I wanted a refund. Once I explained that I DID want a refund, I have heard nothing from the individual.
