About this property

Short walk to Holt - lovely cottage with annexe, parking & private lawned garden

Railway Cottage is a beautifully refurbished Victorian terraced cottage, a short walk to the bustling centre of Holt in one direction and to the Poppy Line station in the other.

Retaining bags of character with Farrow and Ball paintwork, stripped wooden floors, squashy sofas and large comfortable beds, Railway Cottage is the ideal base for a family holiday exploring the North Norfolk coast.

The property sleeps a total of eight, with six in the main house (a king, super king and one twin bedroom) and two more (a double) in 'Platform 2' - the annexe across the courtyard at the rear of the house and actually a converted wash house!

The garden lies to the main beyond the annexe and has a lovely secluded, rather 'secret' feel (or so I've been told by several children!). There are various places to sit and enjoy the garden - take a morning coffee on the deck behind the annexe, stroll down to the bench at the far end of the lawn or relax in the courtyard by the main house.

Family meals can be enjoyed around the large table in the kitchen or outside in the courtyard. Cooler evenings and winter nights can be spent enjoying the warmth of the Aga, curled up by the fire with board games or TV in the sitting room.

Family holiday

We enjoyed our stay in this well equipped property. It was comfortable and spacious with a nice garden and pleasant outdoor seating to enoy a BBQ although the weather did not permit that to happen. We would happily stay there again.

Fantastic property

A return visit for our family of seven, and it was just as wonderful the second time! This time the weather was kind and we were able to use the beautiful garden and outdoor seating, as well as enjoying all the space inside the cottage.

Big enough for the whole family!

We had a wonderful time at Jon's cottage in Holt. The property was close enough to walk to town but not in the hustle and bustle and as such was quiet and relaxing. The open plan kitchen/diner/lounge was perfect to host our whole family. My 5-year-old niece enjoyed ALL of the toys available, and the secret garden was quite the hit! Thank you Jon!

The cottage was very clean and well equipped.The garden and provision of a working barbecue was disappointing. The garden seemingly had not been touched this year and was therefore not useable and the barbecue v small and buried in the back of the overgrown garden. The pots in the courtyard were dead and full of box hedge caterpillars.Would also have liked more than one front door key as key box was difficult to open - perhaps not helped by the overgrown hedge!

Lovely cosy property, dressed for Christmas

This is a super property, very cosy and warm, with Aga, log burner and an open fire. The annex being great option for our daughter to have her own space with sofa and TV. The beds were really comfortable and the cottage very well equipped. Just a short walk into Holt with plenty of restaurants and shops mean everything you need is just on the doorstep. A lovely touch were the tasteful Christmas decorations and the bottle of fizz to welcome us. Jon had set the heating so it was nice and warm for our arrival. I would definitely recommend this wonderful cottage and just wished we could have stayed longer!

Lovely house

Railway Cottage is a lovely house. It's well equipped, beautifully decorated, comfortably furnished and wonderfully warm! The house is also in a perfect location, just ten minutes walk from the centre of Holt and with easy access to the coast. Highly recommended!

Railway Cottage was wonderful

We had an amazing time very homely especially with the aga always lovely and warm … the annexe was such a handy place for our friends to stay in with their dog they absolutely loved it .. short walk to Holt and The Pigs restaurant up the road which was lovely as we celebrated two birthdays that weekend used Holt Taxis who were on time both ways and very efficient .. Holt Country Park was a delight to walk round and Holkham Hall and Beach a must to go too. Thank you Jon for all you did for us to make our weekend stay the best you are a star hopefully we will be back .. the icing on the cake was a visit to see the Thursford Christmas Spectacular which was amazing take care x

Lovely house for a relaxing long weekend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Railway cottage. The separate annex was perfect for my parents and gave them their own space. The selection of toys on the upstairs rooms was fantastic, our boys played with them all weekend. We also really appreciated the sturdy stair gate. Generally the house was beautifully clean and very well equipped. It also had the best example of a welcome book that I have ever seen. The owner, Jon, was always very quick to respond to the few questions I had and was happy to have a cot set up for us. We would all happily stay again - and probably will.
