Peace and ocean

This is a great place if you want to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing vacation looking at the ocean and mountains (at the same time). It is not luxurious (in the hotel sense) but it is comfortable, open and airy, and the location is a rare find. Mahalo!

Beautiful Property

Going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean was such a neat experience. Short walk to a pretty empty beach which we really enjoyed. We loved it and hope to bring our grandkids to the property some day. Appreciated the "Old Hawaiian" feel of the property. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us.

Dream House

This house was wonderful! It’s location was perfect and the sliding doors made it extra special. We loved that we had the chance to enjoy the yard as well as the private beach access. It’s close to so many great restaurants and local shops. My husband and I hope to come back to this house very soon!

great property for families

Property was perfect for our family wedding at the Kualoa Ranch and was convenient for all the north shore activities. Being on the ocean and seeing beautiful sunrises every morning was amazing. There was plenty of room inside and out for the grandkids to run around and having access to the beach was perfect.

Island Style

If you're looking for luxury, plush bedding, air conditioning, TV or "hotel" accommodations... this isn't the place for you. This property is for those that want to experience the Hawaiian style of living. There are four large sliding doors that open up to a beautiful view of the ocean, beaches and mountains. The openness of the house, the sunrises, the sound of waves crashing and the strong breeze are what makes this property truly unforgettable.

The Amazing Waipuna Cottage

Perfect. No other word can describe the experience we had at the Waipuna House. It gives you a true Hawaiian vacation that allows you to enjoy everything Oahu has to offer. Only advice I would give is to add a projector and screen for nighttime entertainment. Aloha and Mahalo

View stunning...house needs work!!!

Katrina-- Please share this text with your management team-- I will trying to email them this form also along with pictures Elite properties-- We Rented October 13-20 2018 ID-30786 The Redmons and Laymans Report from our stay-- We should have been told what shape the house was in. We were never told it was as run down as it was The view was stunning The house was not I would put $100,000 into it before renting it again De mold it, deep clean it, windows and screens cleaned, update bathrooms, floors, new plush rugs, update furniture, nice adirondack chairs on back yard instead of crappy vinyl white ones we had to find and clean in order to use...,. And then.... update and deep clean house every year Every towel washed before anyone uses- every time someone rents We are asking for money back..... We were disappointed in the shape of the home we rented - it was worth $150 a night (if even that) We will expect our deposit back plus the excess back from as if home was $150 a nite We should have been told the house was run down and needing a deep clean, and de molding We were stuck after getting there and not being able to find anything else to rent on the ocean Please respond to my claims Asap - we were always on time with every payment and left this home much better than we found it Our complaint is that we were never told about the shape or condition of the home The pictures told a much nicer story And we should have been warned!! We did appreciate that Katrina brought over some extra fans, a toaster that worked, and spray for bugs Thank you for that gesture Sincerely Rena Redmon, Christopher Redmon Jim Layman Julie Layman

Private Property with Expansive Ocean Views!

We couldn't have chosen a better location to host our large family for a memorable island reunion. Driving through the gates was as though we had taken a step back into time. Waipuna is a large, old style kamaaina beachfront home nestled on a large grassy lawn with 180 degree views of Oahu’s northeastern coastline. The property is set well away from the highway, which made it very private and prevented us from hearing any road noise. However, it was very close to grocery stores and other conveniences, so everything we needed was within a short drive from the house. The home itself has a very open concept. The kitchen opens up to the dining and living areas. The dining room table easily sat 10. A large daybed (punee) was the primo spot for relaxing, and several rocking chairs were available on the front porch and back lanai for people to use. The entire back wall of the home was composed of sliding pocket doors that gave everyone in the living and dining areas the chance to appreciate the ocean views and tropical trade winds. The outdoor access also encouraged the keiki to get outside and play! The home had two private bedrooms, each with their own attached bathroom. We found the setup to be very comfortable for our stay. The location, architecture, décor, and furnishings really transported us back into old Hawaii, but with modern comforts! We can’t wait to book another stay at Waipuna!

Awe Inspiring on North Shore

The owners were so easy to deal with and gracious. The cottage was perfect for my wife and I and another couple. the front and back of the cottage have sliding doors and open completely up for spectacular view of the Pacific. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and the trade winds gently on us. Tremendous value for us as we felt like we "stole" the privacy and beach access we enjoyed for what we paid. Highly recommend

If you want a true taste of paradise, this is it!!

My wife and I have been fortunate to have stayed at Waipuna many times over the last 25 years. Each time has resulted in the warmest of memories. The magical island paradise is right out your door, with the white sands at your feet and the sun in your face. Beautiful grounds, a spacious comfortable home in a private and serene setting make this place ideal for our Hawaiian vacations. We always enjoy the feel of gentle trade winds while watching the sunset on the expansive open lanai with a Mai Tai in hand, all of which just lets our cares fade away. We ALWAYS look forward to our stay in Waipuna.

Spacious and Simple Beauty Of Hawaii

Not your mainstream stay, no champagne wishes, just lasting memories w/ family and friends. Beauty untouched by time, when life was simpler, laughter and moments shared by all, the distractions of the world left at the front gate, and the time spent together. The sunrise each morning, the trade winds on your face, the moon and stars on the ocean, making you a child again....leaving was the hardest.

Absolutely Beautiful Oceanfront Cottage

This property is absolutely beautiful. My family and I have had the honor of staying at Waipuna a few times through out the past few years. Every time we go Waipuna, it never disappoints us. From the beautiful ocean views, fabulous fully furnished cottage, to the secluded location, Waipuna has it all. I highly recommend this property, whether you are looking for a location for a honeymoon, family vacation, or just a weekend getaway with some friends, Waipuna is the place to be.

Awesome view

This property is close to the main North Shore attractions. Minutes from the Polynesian Culture Center. Accommodations were clean. Washer and dryer available to use on property. Large kitchen and dining area. Large rolling doors are great for the evening breeze. Backyard is overlooking the ocean. Awesome view. Property owners were quick to respond.

Definition of the word vacation

The quiet beaches of Laie are the perfect backdrop for a weekend retreat. The perfectly situated house at Waipuna is just steps from white sandy beaches. The constant drone of waves pounding into rocks and onto the beach, a white noise drowning out cell phone alerts and notifications. Full open windows and doors welcome fresh tropical breezes, a natural air conditioning by trade wind chill. The driveway, though hard to spot at highway speed was easily identifiable on a second pass. Instructions for opening up the house are clear. My instinct was to connect the Wi-Fi instantly upon arrival, an unnecessary step because my phone gathered dust on the nightstand, replaced by a book and icy beverage in each hand for most of the weekend. The bedrooms are large. They're breezy by day, but at night we were inclined to close most of the doors, requiring us to use fans for circulation. The main room enjoys a panoramic view of the ocean and palm trees. Sliding doors retract and disappear providing an unobstructed view of the ocean from the main room. A new charcoal BBQ is provided and became the appliance of choice for cooking. A quick trip to Tamura's and another to Foodland (just down the road in either direction) provided briquettes and lighter fluid. Admittedly there isn't much more to review about the humble house, seated quietly on a corner lot overlooking Laie point, but that's one of its best features. Waipuna is unobtrusive in its environment: a paradise nestled in cold salty air, warm ocean waves, and peaceful tropical vibes. It makes a stay at Waipuna exactly the kind of vacation that defines the word.

Great Vacation

We spent a wonderful, relaxing week at Waipuna. It was so relaxing to fall asleep every night to the sound of the ocean. My favorite part is sitting on the bluff and looking for turtles to pop their heads out of the water every evening. My kids loved swimming at Pounders and in the "Baby Pool". We snorkeled right in front of the house every day. It is so peaceful and private. We can't wait to get back ASAP!

Great place!!

Fantastic location on Oahu North Shore. Walking distance to Polynesian Cultural Center, Pounders Beach and great hiking and still very secluded. The house is fantastic...open the wall doors and enjoy the ocean view and breezes. Great snorkeling on a living reef right in front of the house and a great protected natural ocean pool for kids!

Another Memorable Family Staycation

I've rented Waipuna for the last 5 years and the beauty and peacefulness keeps bringing me back for more. A private get away spot far away from the hustle and bustle but very close to stores, theaters, restaurants, churches, attractions, and medical facilities when you need it. Waipuna offers the comfort of home yet has the outdoor space to rough it in tents or just lying on the grass soaking up the sun's rays. Although the beach is a short walk away from the cottage, my family enjoys it every time. My only regret is that my family and I can't stay longer to enjoy what Waipuna shares! Thank You and hope to see you next year!

exquisite site

we spend some beautiful, relaxing time at this exquisite place, with the tremendous view, enjoying the comfortable, spacious and peaceful house which made me feel right away at home; I loved the sound of the waves rolling to shore and still miss them. Beach was nice to walk and right next to the house, the sea forms a little bassin for beginners
