About this property
Chateau Noir - Traditional Farm House ( 3 Bedroom Sleeps 8 ) Long term welcome
Nestled away a stones throw from the picturesque village of Gourge, is our little home, we fondly refer to as 'Chateau Noir'. Tucked away between the Loire Valley and the Dordogne A traditional French farmhouse, renovated with a modern touch, boasts 3 available bedrooms, sleeping in total 8 people. The main bedroom consists of a double bed and a day bed that sleeps 2. This is accompanied by a further smaller bedroom with a double bed and an upstairs bedroom with 2 single beds.
The house has two bathrooms and a cosy living room with a irresistible wood burning stove, for those chilly evenings. A modern family kitchen, inclusive of oven, washing machine and dishwasher, gives the home a modern feel. A large patio and garden is a must for the long summer days and evenings relaxing in the French country sunshine.
Gourgé is situated in the Deux-Sèvres department, Poitou-Charentes region and is one of many villages that delight with their fairy-tale chateaus, medieval architecture and captivating scenery. This area and countryside offers some of the most enchanting and picturesque areas in all of France.
The Poitou-Charentes region is on the western coast of France where it faces the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Biscay. The coastal region of Poitou-Charentes around Ile-de-Ré has a microclimate that is said to be the second sunniest region of mainland France (after Provence).
There are four departments that make up the Poitou-Charentes region: Charente (to the south), Charente-Maritime (to the west), Deux-Sèvres (to the north) and Vienne (to the east). Charente-Maritime is the only one of these departments that has a coastline.
Poitiers is 34 miles from La Gandonniere / Gourge, while the stunning wine region of Saumur is 32 miles away. La Rochelle / Ile de Re are 81 miles and a little further a field is Bordeaux.
The nearest airport is Poitiers-Biard Airport, 31 miles , with La Rochelle being 84 miles and Tours 82 miles from the accommodation.
A spectacular, beautiful and peaceful drive from Calais is approximately 6 hours with Le Harve only 4.
