Stylish elevated village house with stunning countryside views.
La Guimbarde was once the bakery in the hilltop village of Frolois. Today the experienced owners of 3 other holiday properties in the area are proud to introduce this newly renovated cottage to the holiday property market. The building once served the residents of the village their daily baguettes and croissants. Today, the property offers up to date, comfortable accommodation in a pretty village setting.
The house sleeps 4 adults in 2 bedrooms. A spacious king size double bedroom (bed dimension 160cm x 200cm) and a twin bedroom (2 beds of 90cm x 200cm) with new mattresses, ensure you sleep well during your stay. The beds have been made up with fresh white linens for your arrival. The rooms have an individual feel and relish in the uninterrupted views across the roof tops of Frolois to the countryside beyond. Cool, contemporary colour schemes have been chosen in the bedrooms to enable relaxation and restfulness. Generously sized picture windows allow peaceful contemplation or reading opportunities from an unspoiled position. There is enough storage for your personal belongings and both bedrooms are equipped with ventilation fans for the summer months and hairdryers for your use.
Each bedroom leads to an en-suite shower room, with over-sized showers, complimentary soap and lotions for your use. Small and large towels are provided.
The light, bright downstairs of the property offers the holiday maker satisfying living spaces in which to relax and prepare meals. The fully equipped Kitchen/dining space allows for lengthy dining with friends and family at the comfort of the dining table and chairs. Descend a few steps into the old fashioned, walk-in pantry cupboard housing the washing machine and storage. A pretty Juliette balcony at one end of the kitchen opens onto the garden terrace for an airy feel allowing a breeze through the house. A small corridor with a practical downstairs w.c. leads to a warm, sunny lounge with inviting soft seating for all the occupants, UK free to air television channels and a cosy log burning stove for cooler evenings ensure you have everything you need to relax after a busy day visiting the region. Glass doors open onto a veranda with a few steps down to the enclosed, south facing garden, which also enjoys the wonderful views of the village and valley beyond.
The garden area invites you outside to enjoy the long summer days from the comfort of a sun lounger for more opportunities to enjoy the surroundings. Keen chefs can barbecue from the gas grill, just a few steps from the kitchen, keeping food preparation and garden dining easy and stress free for your holiday.
We can also recommend wonderful local producers of cheese, meat and provide private catering to enhance you Burgundy Hideaways experience in Frolois. Please inquire for details
For our younger guests we can provide a cot in either of the bedrooms, a high chair, stair gate, changing mat, toys, books, DVDs. There is a microwave to make baby food preparation easy, plastic plates and cups along with child-sized cutlery. A baby bath can be easily positioned in either of the shower rooms.
Please inquire about your pets joining you for your visit to La Guimbarde. Usually this is not a problem, but we do ask that animals stay off the soft furnishings and light coloured bedding.
The owners offer a catering service to take away some of the 'self' from self-catering. This may be arranged in advance of your stay or once you are at the house. We can also offer bespoke children's menus along with child sized portions from the choices available. Please inquire for more details.
There is daily bread available that can be delivered to you for your daily requirement of French baguettes and pastries.

Let me start with saying how beautiful and clean this condo was!! The pictures do not give this place the justice it deserves! The hosts were very quick on communication. We had more than we could ever ask for already there, basically you just need food sunscreen, and clothes. There is a beach closet with nice beach chairs and tons of beach towels, a beach umbrella and toys. Board games in living room, and nice TVs for the bedrooms and the living room! The furniture is nice comfortable and very clean. Updated washer and dryer was amazing with pods already there as well as pods for dishwasher. They provide many bathroom towels. Enough lotion shampoo and body wash to get you started with in both bathrooms. In the kitchen if you cook be prepared to have your pick of all types of pots and pans.. including 2 crock pots and an electric skillet, nice bowls with lids for leftovers, a huge refrigerator, coffee maker, coffee and creamer was provided, there was some individual snacks for us when we arrived as well. The pool is about a 2 min walk and it's connected to a nice fitness center. This is a gated community, so it's very safe! Very close to many beach accesses, especially massengale park. In the backyard there is a picnic table and a swing, also a pet station with bags provided to use when you walk your fur baby. I could go on and on but I can just say 5 stars is not enough for this destination. Book this place and have a fun filled relaxed vacation guys! great hosts great place

The house was very clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped and situated in the heart of a quiet, traditional French village that was a really good base for seeing the area. The two en-suites and English television made it especially appealing to us.
A really special feature of the house was that the owner delivered great freshly baked bread every morning and absolutely delicious, generous sized servings of home-cooked French meals as ordered. The three meals that we ordered were all yummy but the cassoulet was especially scrumptious. This was a great way to try French food at very reasonable prices without having to leave the house.
Highly recommended.

We have been running Burgundy Hideaways for more than 8 years now. We have built our collection of 4 holiday properties slowly assuring quality and a high specification in each house. Our background in hospitality means we can provide a high quality of service from the initial reservation, through to welcoming you to the house for your stay. We are always available to answer any questions you may have about the houses or the area and are on hand to help with any difficulties (should they arise) or local reservations you may require.
Why they chose this property
As this is our 4th house to the holiday property market, we believe we know what needs to be provided for a comfortable stay in a self catering property. We are proud to offer houses converted with this in mind, so comfy beds, fully equipped, good quality kitchens, attractive furnishings (indoors and out) and excellent service are our main aims.
