About this property
Two Bedroom Cottage at the 4* Ellingham Cottages, perfect for families
The Ellingham Cottages are nestled within the beautiful parish of St Martins in the south-east of the island. We are only two miles from the picturesque harbour town of St Peter Port and yet are perfectly located for easy access to the stunning south-coast cliffs for scenic hikes; tranquil green lanes ideal for leisurely walks and bike rides; and quiet sandy bays perfect for sunbathing away from the crowds.
The two-bedroom classic cottages at The Ellingham Cottages are on two levels and sleep 4 people, plus an infant (travel cots available on request). The cottages are available for weekly bookings with a Saturday changeover. There is another two-bed cottage which welcomes guests on a Sunday - listed separately.
Downstairs is a fully-equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, oven, hob, microwave, washing machine etc. The living room has two comfortable sofas and a dining table which seats 4 people. A high chair is available on request. The cottages have a 32" flat-screen TV, plus DvD player and free-sat channels. The bathrooms have either a bath with an overhead shower, or a separate shower.
The patio doors lead to a lovely shared terrace - a perfect spot for enjoying your breakfast. To the front of the cottage is a small garden that catches the afternoon and evening sun. Plus there is a large shared back garden with plenty of places to sit and eat.
Within just a few minutes walk is the parish 'high street', with some shops, a bakery, Co-Op, M&S Food Hall, garages, a pub, cashpoint and pharmacy. There is a regular bus service that runs past the cottage. The bus service is excellent - cheap, reliable and friendly drivers! This service travels to several places, including the main town of St Peter Port. There is also a circular bus route which you can pick up from The Ellingham which takes you all around the island.
Guernsey is a small island and thus relatively easy to get around. Whether you are wanting to lie back and relax on stretching sandy beaches, watch the bustle of the marina, experience culinary delights, or more active experiences, such as surfing, coasteering, wind-surfing, cycling, hiking, swimming or boogie-boarding - Guernsey offers something for everyone to enjoy. We would be happy to make recommendations.
St Peter Port is exceptionally charming, set along the sea-front and with a cobbled high street and VAT-free shopping. A wonderful day can be spent browsing the fashion, beauty and jewellery boutiques before stopping for lunch at a harbour-side restaurant, before maybe visiting the house that Victor Hugo lived in when in exile from France. It is lovely to have a simple sandwich lunch sitting on one of the many benches overlooking the harbour filled with yachts.
The Cottages are a short walk to Sausmarez Manor, with it's sub-tropical gardens, sculpture park and weekly Farmers' Market. Other attractions are Castle Cornet, Vale Castle, the Occupation Museum, Aquarium, Oatlands Play Centre and boutique shops, plus there are the wonderful islands of Sark and Herm to explore - both only a short boat trip away.

About the host
Hosted by Fiona Elliott
The Ellingham Cottages is a family business, owned and operated by Simon and Fiona Elliott. Simon has family connections with the Channel Islands and spent many happy holidays on the Bailiwick of Guernsey as a child. We moved to Guernsey nearly 15 years ago and now have two children. As a family, we love the relaxed, safe and fun environment that is Guernsey - and would love to share it with you!!
What makes this property unique
There is a selection of great restaurants, bars, local shops and supermarkets within short walking distance of The Ellingham Cottages. The bus service is only a few minutes walk away and provides an excellent service - including the ever-popular island-circular route, plus the quick journey into St Peter Port. Our nearest beach is Moulin Huet which was captured in a series of wonderful oil paintings by the artist Renoir during his stay in 1883. From here join the beautiful cliff paths for a stroll with stunning views and access to numerous other bays. The Ellingham Cottages also has a Guest Library stocked with books, magazines, games, beach items and DVDs. There are also lots of pamphlets, maps, suggested walks and cycle routes and other information. You will be welcomed on arrival and shown to your cottage. Inside will be a small welcome pack of locally-sourced groceries so that you can enjoy a light snack before heading off to explore. We also provide a mid-week spruce up , whereby we give the apartment a quick clean and provide a clean set of fresh towels.
