About this property
Sunny spacious bungalow & garden near cliff paths and beaches.
Morningstar is a spacious, well-appointed bungalow, with a lovely large private garden backing on to fields. The three patios provide sunny spots to relax, barbecue in and enjoy alfresco dining.
It takes only a few minutes to drive to the sandy beaches of Rocquaine and L’Eree, the cinema, or the nearest restaurant. The stunning south coast cliff path is approximately 200 metres away, while a well-stocked shop and Post Office are a pleasant stroll through quiet lanes.
We have enjoyed hosting both couples and families. We want you to feel completely at home, providing you with a fully-equipped kitchen with: ample cupboard space; a fridge and fridge freezer, a fan oven and a combi microwave/grill oven ; a ceramic hob and extractor fan; a further separate microwave; and a dish washer. Appliances include: kettle, toaster, coffee grinder, a cafetiere and an inline water filter. All the glasses, cutlery , crockery and cooking utensils you would want are in the drawers and cupboards.
The sun pours into the living room from three sides. There is free high speed wifi internet available and a wifi range extender to reach all rooms, plus usb charging sockets in each bedroom and the living room, together with a television. We have a small selection of board games.
The main bedroom has a king size bed(150 cms wide) and the second bedroom a double bed( 135 cms wide). Each bed has one comfortable duvet and two pillows. These bedrooms are situated at opposite ends of the house for privacy, and each have an ensuite with toilet, hand basin and walk in power shower. There is generous wardrobe space in each. The third bed is a small sofa bed (112 cms wide) located in the living room, which is a private space once the door is closed. The sofa bed has its own duvet and two pillows.
There is a toilet and washbasin in the utility room, together with a washing machine, dryer & ceiling mounted drying rack. There is a further rotary drying rack set out in the garden. Pegs are provided.
The whole house and large secluded garden are available for your use during your stay, apart from one room and the garage/shed, which are private spaces, kept locked by us in our absence.
There is a comprehensive manual giving details of the appliances etc in the house, as well as some Guernsey visitor information. We would be contactable through the Vrbo app if necessary.
Booking:
During July and August we usually only accept Saturday - Saturday bookings, but could consider arrival and departure days outside weekends for longer stays of 10 nights or more.
Morningstar is situated in the rural parish of Torteval, a peaceful haven away from the bustle of St Peter Port. It has easy access to: historic sites, from Tudor and Napoleonic castles to 2nd World War German fortifications, including the German Underground Hospital, the 22cm gun battery and Naval Observation post at Pleinmont, the Fairy Ring near the Tudor Fort Pecqueries; wide sandy beaches looking towards the Hanois lighthouse to the west; the pretty parish church and the unique St Peter's church, dating from the 14th century; and several cafes, pubs, restaurants and a fish and chip shop within a few minutes' drive, including the Imperial Hotel restaurant which has wonderful views over Rocquaine Bay and the Napoleonic era Fort Grey.
Although the drive has generous parking for cars, a bus stop is located a couple of minutes' walk from the house. For those who prefer cycling or walking, the speed limit is 35 mph and the lanes behind the house rarely have traffic. Nowhere is very far on Guernsey!
Our House Rules are simple:
