Property was very nice and the owner was very pleasant. Loved the professional kitchen and hot tub. Hated the mosquitoes but that is just the nature of the season and location.
Jon was very easy to work with! He cleared the driveway and put de-icer down after a snow. We enjoyed the fireplace and the beautiful view. The house had everything we needed!
Jon was very accomodating, replying to our questions promptly. We LOVED the Gourmet Cook Stove in the kitchen! It made cooking fun! And because the kitchen is an open concept, we could all pitch in to bring a meal together while visiting with everyone. This is important, since there are not a lot of dining out options in Springfield!! We would definitely stay here again.
We come to SD every summer at this time to visit friends. We decided to stay in a house this year instead of driving daily from the hotel. We will stay again. The town is cute. If you want normal grocery options you need to bring them from Yankton or another town with more options. The owners are very nice and quick to communicate. We wanted to fish some with my daughter but area flooding made fishing hard. luckily that wasn’t our reason for the trip. Fishing was really close and the area is beautiful.
A wonderful view overlooking the Missouri River from the front porch and the front rooms of this home. My brother and I stayed here for 5 days. The kitchen/ dinning area and living room look out windows straight at the sunrise and the river. The home is absolutely a stay here if you’re in the area. The host is very nice and is easily accessible for your stay.
We have been coming here for a few years now once per summer, this host makes it feel special every time. They are very responsive to messages, as we wanted to be able to come in a day early they were able to accommodate us. The house is beautifully situated for the most amazing morning and all day views of the riverfront. Amazing wildlife, and special insiders hole in the wall must sees make it a treat to visit. We will be booking again soon, so long for now but not for long. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
The property was very nice and easy to find. Really enjoyed the open kitchen/dining/living area. Very clean and close to the river. Loved that it was all one level for my parents so they didn't have to deal with steps. Joe was very responsive to any questions that I had. I would stay here again! Thanks Joe!
The River House was just right for a family gathering. Our host gave us referrals for kayaking and we now have sweet memories of the Missouri River and all the wildflowers! The kitchen, the hot tub and excellent views were just what we needed.
We were there for a family re-union. Beautiful views, very clean and comfortable. Friendly hosts and fantastic kitchen with brand new gourmet stove/oven
Everything from booking to checking out was perfect! Jon was wonderful to work with and the communication was excellent. This property has everything you will need, it is very clean, well stocked, very spacious and with a great kitchen!! The beautiful view from the porch is amazing and this is where we spent most of our time. I'd definitely recommend this property to anyone. We hope to stay here again. Thanks Jon
We had a great stay! Jon was very helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. He was easy to reach and responded quickly to questions. There was plenty to do in the area - hiking, birdwatching, boating, kayaking, etc.
Perfect! Everything from booking to check out was just perfect. The home was set up with everything we needed. It has everything a large group would need also!
Had a great stay here for our duck hunting trip. Very nice property with great amenities. beautiful view of the Springfield Bottoms. The owner was very nice and easy to contact. He even stopped by to check on us and make sure things were going well. Highly recommend this place.
Home is located in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood close to the river's public access. Beautiful view and nice setup of outside amenities. Enjoyed playing cornhole and soaking in the hot tub after a long day of fishing. Kitchen is one of the best we've seen in VRBO properties, very well stocked with dishes/pots/utensils. Jon addressed any questions we had and was great to work with. Would stay again!
This is our second trip to Jon’s place. I cannot say enough about the communication with him. It seems so easy compared to other VRBOs we have stayed at. The cabin is clean. Plenty of parking. We love that it’s in a small town where you can completely disconnect, but Yankton isn’t a far drive if you need it. We will make this a yearly adventure! Plenty of room and the layout is perfect.
We truly enjoyed the comfortable surroundings, gaming area and yard space. The proximity to fishing opportunities was great as well. Would book this home again without hesitation.

We have been married over 30 years now and our children aren't little any more. We live in the city, but our real love is the open spaces. We enjoy everything about the kayaking, fishing or just pulling up on a sandbar and spending the day. Although Sam loves the outdoors, she does not like to "camp" and the cabin reflects her has all of the comforts you can wish for...
Why they chose this property
When our children were small we had a small cabin on the Boat Basin in this time. We spent as much time as possible there and many of our best memories are those where we were swam off sandbars, fished and enjoyed the wildlife.. There was an old dilapidated farmhouse on the bluff at the edge of town where we would park to look over the river. We liked the property so much that we started writing the owner in 2004 to see if he would that time, his dream was the same as ours..... return to build a new home there. Regardless, I wrote him for several years in hope he would change his mind. During 2014 I attempted to reach him again and found he had passed away and his children had the property. We were very fortunate they were willing to sell it to us. We drew up plans of our dream home and spent the next two years planning and finally building. We can now sit on the porch or in the hot tub and look out on the most incredible of views. This is really a magical place.
What makes this property unique
We love to watch the wildlife from the house. Many times there are deer on the river islands. There isn't a day that goes by that eagles and many other birds fly right in front of us. The house sits approximately a mile from the state park and golf course. The state park has a fish cleaning station, a dock to fish from and two boat launches.
