About this property
Manoir with extensive private grounds
Originally bought and renovated as a private home, Manoir de l’Hermier is a truly magical place to spend a holiday. Sections of the main house date back to the 15th century and the property still retains many of its original features. It has been lovingly restored and renovated to provide a wonderful balance between old world charm and modern amenities.
There is also a cottage next to the heated swimming pool (seasonal opening) that is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The house and cottage are set in 15 acres of private grounds with an extensive lawn and private woodland. Close to the pool there is a tennis court with the addition of full-size basketball nets to accommodate different sporting preferences.
Located close to the beautiful medieval town of Sarlat in the Dordogne, this property offers an unrivalled holiday experience. The property is in a quiet hamlet and offers privacy to its occupants whilst many exciting attractions are just a short drive away.

A great holliday house, or better, a great mansion!Everything you need for a fantastic holliday. the tastefull decorated house, the extensive grounds, the pool, tennis, jeu de boules etc. etc. We had a lot of fun with the croquet game. This looks like a childrens game, but if you take a few minutes to read the rules of the game online, then it is realy a great game. Furthermore we used the big outdoorkitchen near the pool to have some nice meals outside. We stayed here for 12 days with our family of 11 (9 adults and 2 grandchildren). Room enough for everyone. You can cycle to Sarlat or to the Dordogne river that are both beautifull. If there is a problem then Pierre the local caretaker solves it within the shortest timeperiod.
Fantastic property situated in beautiful grounds. The swimming pool and barbecue area was perfect and the addition of the tennis court, basketball nets, pétanque court and table tennis were thoroughly enjoyed by all members of the family. All ages were thoughtfully catered for which helped to make this holiday special.

I’m delighted that you had such a super family holiday at the Manoir.
An amazing home for a large group. So lovely to be out in the country side but still so close to Sarlat. The kitchen was extremely well equipped for lots of family meals together. We had a wonderful 2 week stay.
The house and surrounding garden exceeded our expectation, what a great property. The fact that he weather was in our favor obviously did a lot as well, but only added to the already great week.

I am delighted that you had a great stay at my property. I hope you are able to visit again.
A truly beautiful house with excellent facilities and in a great location. It was safe, private and stunningly peaceful. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
Some issues upon arrival with the pool, but these were managed by the property managers.
A magnificent old house, ideally situated close to Sarlat . Excellent pool and BBQ facility. The bedrooms were perfect for our large family of 13 , plus 2 very well behaved dogs . Extensive grounds for early morning walks and the tennis court was used by the more overly active family members. We did have a few issues but these were sorted by Pierre, the manager, who also organised for a local chef to cook all of us an evening meal which was excellent !! The owner, Lynda was particularly kind with difficult travel issues created by a well known airline and thank you again.
Magnificent 5 star large manor house in the Dordogne
We were a family group of 11, aged 5 to 67. This magnificent old house was in immaculate condition and offered so much space for our group (will sleep up to 19). Set in 15 acres and with generously sized rooms this is a place to relax and chill out. Tennis courts, table tennis and petanque great fun. The pool house is fully equipped and makes using the pool area easy with little need to 'to and fro' to the main house. The pool is large, about 18 x 10 metres, and at a comfortable temperature. We all swam every day and loved it. So much to do in the Dordogne within easy reach of the manor. Canoeing from Carsac (5 minutes away), so many gorgeous villages (listed in the most beautiful villages in France) - loved Domme, a cliff top ancient town with small streets, beautiful architecture and wow views. Castles in plenty to visit - we did Beynac and recommend it - the views even better than Domme! So many underground places to explore from the beauty of stalagmites and stalagtities to how man lived centuries ago to even recent times. Recommend the Gouffre de Pourmeyssac for rock formations - fabulous. A huge LeClerc supermarket is nearby and sells everything you could need (and more) - including the local delicacy of fois gras (yum). A fabulous holiday was enjoyed by all, thank you Lynda, Matthew and Susie for all your help. Highly recommended.
