About this property
New for 2020 Modern barn conversion sleeps up to 9 people. Close to Alton Towers
It was developed in 2013 & revamped to join Homeaway in 2020. It is situated on a working farm on the picturesque Ipstones Edge in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
The area is perfect for walking, cycling, hiking or climbing holidays in the Peak District. As you can see, there are stunning views across the Midlands. If you want a peaceful break, this is for you. Single night stays accepted during weekdays - get in touch :)
The space
Set in 50 acres of unspoilt countryside, this is a two-bedroom barn conversion to sleep 8 people. Situated on the edge of the Peak District in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
If you want a peaceful break, this is the place for you. If you’re after a party house - this really isn’t what we’re about. There are some amazing options on Airbnb and we can point you in their direction. However, if you want a break away from it all and some peace and quiet/relaxation with loads of walks - we’ve got you covered.
Right, we'll make you a promise. We won't fill this listing with loads of buzz words you see on ALLLLL the other Airbnb listings. We'll let the pictures do the talking. :)
The downstairs is open-plan and has central heating throughout. There's a large dining table which can seat up to 8 people which is great for a nice meal together after a long walk or hike.
The master bedroom has a double bed and a double sofa bed. The spare bedroom is home to a double bed and there's a double sofa bed in the living area.
There's a kitchen with everything you'd hope for and expect. You can use it at your leisure. However, if you don't fancy cooking - full catering can be provided at an extra cost. I've worked in hospitality and catering all my life and I'm more than happy to put on a meal of whatever you request. That can be anything from fully cooked breakfasts to afternoon tea to evening meals.
We also have a function room on site which can be accessed for an extra cost (please check in advance). The photographs of this are in with the others. It can seat up to 30 people, It's ideal for meetings and small gatherings.
The ground floor of the cottage has the following:
- 2 x sofas
- full kitchen with microwave, toaster, kettle, oven etc
- dining table and chairs
- washer/dryer
Upstairs has:
- full bathroom with bath and separate shower (2 metres x 2.5 metres)
- large main bedroom (5 metres x 3.5 metres)
- second bedroom (3 metres x 2.9 metres)
- walk-in wardrobe (2.6 metres x 1.9 metres)
- large storage room for suitcases (4.5 metres x 1.9 metres)
The nearest pub is around a 30-minute walk away.
There are dozens of footpaths all around us which allow ramblers to discover where we live all year round. The area is also a very popular mountain biking area with trails from the family-friendly xc routes all the way up to the gnarly and steep enduro and downhill tracks. Rock climbing is also on offer as Dimmingsdale boasts some of England's finest sandstone bouldering crags.
Other things to note
Please note - if you're after somewhere for a hen or stag do - this isn't for you. We live on the property and want to host people who want a peaceful break.
When we say working farm, we don't mean there'll be tractors going all the way through the night(!) and milking from 4am but there are cows here.
They're kept in a shed on the other side of the farm in the winter months and out in the fields in the summer. So you can expect to hear some mooing but don't worry - no combine harvesters flying past your bedroom window at 3am.
Three cats live here. My husband breeds pedigree Dexter cows - we have around 40. For this reason, unfortunately, we can not allow pets. So sorry - no dogs or cats etc. Humans only.
Please note: this cottage does not have wifi. Due to being located in the Moorlands, the internet is painfully slow. It's like being back on dial-up! If you don't know what that is - you're lucky! :) However, because we're so high up - most mobile phone operators have full 4G reception here. So we hotspot off our phones to access the internet and it works a treat.

About the host
Hosted by Sharon
Hi! I’m Sharon. I’m new to Airbnb. My husband, Stephen, and two boys, Simon and Robert, moved to the Moorlands from Nottinghamshire in the year 200. Since then, we’ve made it our home. When we arrived, we farmed 10,000 free-range chickens! In 2013, my son and his wife converted one of our barns into their home. They recently moved to Leek so my husband and I decided to start a new adventure and list the property on Airbnb. We’ve loved meeting the guests so far. We still live in the farmhouse on the property. We share our little piece of the Moorlands with around 50 pedigree Dexter cows, 3 cats and a handful of chickens.
During your stay
We live in the house on the farm. We're around if you need us but we'll mainly be in our house/working the other side of the farm. We do access our house to the rear of the cottage so will walk past the cottage infrequently.
