'The Cottage' is a charming, cosy retreat, perfectly proportioned and is ideal for couples. The large, private gardens are delightful in the summer months while the wood burning stove and exposed beams make it the perfect place to hunker down when it is chilly outside.
Immaculately presented, and styled by the owners to a high standard, this luxury cottage offers all the modern amenities required for a romantic and comfortable stay.
Located on the edge of the village, visitors arrive through a welcoming courtyard with private parking and step into a well-stocked kitchen with breakfast table. The kitchen opens up in to the large sitting & dining room where guests can enjoy the fabulous garden views through the large patio doors which can be opened up when the weather is warm to bring the outside in. The rear patio is a superb sun trap, and overlooks half an acre of manicured lawns.
The king-sized bedroom can be found up the twisting wooden stairs along with the house bathroom which incorporates a separate bath and shower.
The Cottage is ideally situated for walkers - located between Loggerheads Country Park and Cilcain Village in the hamlet of Pantymwyn. Set close to an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, country walks along public footpaths can start on the doorstep and take you across fields to Loggerheads Country Park and to Moel Famau the highest point in the Clwydians. More excellent walking and breathtaking scenery can be enjoyed along the Offa's Dyke Path.
The friendly village pub is only a short walk away and for more sporting guests, Mold golf course is just down the road. The market town of Mold is three miles away and offers a regular market, a selection of shops, good eating places and Theatr Clwyd, the famous National Theatre of Wales. The Roman city of Chester is just 18 miles away with its historic buildings, riverside walks, racecourse and excellent shopping

Tastefully designed and equipped, the cottage is an ideal base for a couple to explore north east Wales, Chester and Liverpool. The owners were welcoming and delightful.

We loved the cottage.
It was just as expected from the listing. Lovely and peaceful. We had everything that we needed and the nearest town with plenty of shops and restaurants was only 10 mins drive away.
No a negative for me as I'm only about 5ft4 but taller people may struggle with the angles of the roof and lower ceilings but it's a beautiful cottage and I can't recommend it highly enough.

A perfect cottage to make our weeks stay very restful. Would highly recommend.
Breakfast not applicable as self-catering. Location peaceful and quiet, exactly as we wanted. Cottage perfect. Well furnished, comfortable, everything provided.
Would have liked a downstairs toilet, but that's because we are elderly. Upstairs bathroom and toilet facilities were excellent.

Another wonderful stay at The Cottage
This is the third time we've stayed. Everything about the cottage and the hosts is outstanding. So comfortable and well-kitted out with an amazing garden. It's quiet but also within easy drive of so many beauty spots, as well as easy walking distance to the The Loggerheads Country Park. We'll be back.
Some hand soap in the kitchen would be good. And a tall reading lamp for the lounge would be useful but otherwise perfect.

We spent a week at this lovely rural cottage over the New Year to find time to relax and wind down
We spent a week at this lovely rural cottage over the New Year to find time to relax and wind down. It was very well equipped and has the benefit of dedicated off-road parking.
The standard of the accommodation is very high with good quality kitchen and dining implements as well.
It was cozy and warm and we didn’t even need to light a fire, even with snow outside, although it was nice to have the option if needed.
There are some great country walks from the cottage and it is also an easy walk to the local pub if you want to leave the car. There is plenty of wildlife and birds to see from, and in, the rear garden.
Chester, Wrexham and the North coast resorts of Prestatyn, Rhyl and Llandudno are an easy drive from the accommodation.
The hosts have thought of everything and we would not hesitate in recommending a stay here.

A very well appointed - and architecturally interesting - cottage.
Cosy, comfortable - either as a retreat to chill out ina base from which to discover North Wales. Lovely private outdoor area for breakfasting, lunch, relaxingreading etc (if the weather permits) and large grassy lawn for sunbathing, exercise, yoga etc. A good find.
Don’t (entirely) rely on your sat nav to find it though - keep on the main roads and let sat nav reconfigure til you get to the destination -go old school and read the road signs.

Delightful
We agree with the comment ‘architecturally interesting’! A delightfully peaceful cottage with a great garden to sit in. Very clean and comfortable. The photos don’t do it justice. We were very glad we could be accommodated at short notice - 2 hours in fact, after our planned accommodation fell through! Thank you!

Relaxing location, exceptional cottage and would highly recommend.
Exceptionally clean, location very peaceful. Cottage is very well thought out and cosy.
No welcome pack. It’s always a good start to your holiday and puts a smile on any guests face, it was a noticeable shame not to have a nice surprise. Totally understand that it’s not compulsory so it’s not a complaint!

Ideal Holiday Cottage
The Cottage has loads of character and decorated and equipped to a very high standard.
It is very clean and immaculate throughout.
The Cottage had everything we needed and has lovely garden to the back which gets the afternoon and early evening sunshine and is visited by rabbits, squirrels and a wide range of birds. There is private off road parking.
It is in an ideal location to visit North Wales and has lots of country walks.
The booking process and contact with Finest Retreats has been very good and Sandra the owner contacted us with the final details a couple of days prior to our stay.

Another wonderful stay
This is our second stay at The Cottage. We love the cottage and the garden. The sofa is huge and brilliant for relaxing, and the bed comfortable. Sandra and Allan have created a beautiful place to stay in and are friendly and helpful. The area is so lovely, with loads to see and do. It's also very quiet in the Cottage and a relief for us city-dwellers who need a break from the constant noise of a city. We'll be back!
We do miss the dishwasher which has been replaced by a washing machine as we like to cook while we're there. Also, some hand soap in the kitchen would be useful.

Very charming small cottage perfect for two and a great base to explore north Wales
Very charming small cottage perfect for two and a great base to explore north Wales. Well stocked kitchen and comfortable lounge with a dining area with Freeview TV and wood burner if needed. Lovely south facing garden set to lawn with patio furniture allows for a relaxing space in the evening if the weather is nice. Bedroom is comfortable with a King-sized bed, chest of drawers and hanging space, although care is needed with the headroom as it is set in the roof space. Same for the bathroom although this is not a hinderance if you are careful. Off street parking into the shared driveway which is gated adds to the cosiness of the property. Whilst set near the town of Mold with full amenities, it is a great place to base yourself for a holiday in North Wales. Conwy and Llandudno are 45 minutes away and Snowdon just over an hour. More locally are Llangollen and the National Trust properties at Erddig and Chirk. A cosy and quiet place to stay for couples set to a high specification.

Immaculate
Appreciated the call the day before travelling to Mold. Immaculate accommodation. We had a wonderful time, visited Chester & Liverpool, despite the terrible weather! It was a well needed break.
A few suggestions for an even better stay: Move the chest of drawers out a little to avoid hitting head on the low ceiling. Perhaps a full mirror in the bedroom, closer to sockets, as found it difficult bend to use the small mirror. No sockets on landing to use the full mirror. A mat in the shower may be useful to avoid slipping. A welcome pack would be appreciated eg. Pint of milk, orange juice etc, especially after a long journey. Other than that, we had a lovely stay. Thanks, Sandy 😊
