The location is outstanding. Gros is truly one of the best neighborhoods in all of Donosti. You are within a very short walking distance of the beach, bars, supermarkets, restaurants, shops, parks, plazas, you name it. The area was very lively as this was during Semana Grande and there are bars directly below the property. This was not a problem for us as we are heavy sleepers and the walls did a good job at keeping the sound out. The real problem was that the shutters did not work and only one of the windows had a curtain, leaving you pretty exposed to the many people outside. This also meant that quite a lot of street lights shined into the property. I think it’s quite outrageous that this was lack of privacy/functionality was not tended to before our arrival. The property itself was clean for the most part and had poor amenities. The WiFi was reliable, there were spare towels but not enough for 2 people, there was no extra toilet paper or paper towels, the bed was comfortable enough. One of the burners on the stove did not work, it would not heat up at all. The washer/dryer only partially worked because the dryer didn’t dry at all. We had to take the clothes to the laundromat to dry them. The property could use some air conditioning. The fan they provide will not be enough for some people. On our last night, a strong smell of rotten eggs emanated from the bathroom at 4am and stopped around 7am.6 out of 10 stars. Needs a lot of work, especially for the price you pay.
