About this property

Double Ensuite Chapel Annex at The Oratory

The Chapel is divided into two areas: the upper mezzanine is a spacious double bedroom and the lower area a lounge and kitchenette.

The lounge area has a sofa which converts into two full size single beds. We have cots which can be put into The Chapel on request.

Optional sumptuous continental breakfast. This is put in your room the night before in order for you to enjoy at your leisure.
Bed & Continental Breakfast or Self Catering - its your choice which you book. Located in Princetown, we are wonderfully positioned for exploring Dartmoor as well as further afield into the rest of Devon and Cornwall.

When you stay at The Chapel, you have exclusive guest occupancy at The Oratory for the duration of your stay.

The Chapel sleeps up to four, and is accessed through its own private entrance, with the hall leading to the main split level room. The upper mezzanine area is a spacious double bedroom and the lower area a lounge/kitchenette in which the sofa can extend into two single beds. Also accessed from the hall is a large, light, airy bathroom with double-ended deep bath, separate shower and underfloor heating.

There are local maps and books in The Chapel if you need any help in planning your stay with us, as well as various novels if you wish to spend any time indoors. Extra beds/cots can be put in the room on request. Guests are welcome to use the garden, please note we do have a few covered small ponds, so we ask children to be accompanied. Dogs are welcome, and we have a special box of goodies to make any four-legged friends feel at home.

Princetown is ideally situated for walkers and cyclists. The town is overlooked by the North Hessary Tor and is close to Fox Tor Mires, said to be the inspiration for the Grimpen Mire in Sir Arthur Doyle's novel "The Hound of the Baskervilles". The Chapel is also within easy reach of various tourist attractions including the Dartmoor Miniature Pony Centre and Lydford Gorge. Many adventure activities are also available nearby including balloon flights, climbing, canoeing and caving. The lovely market town of Tavistock is 6 miles away.

A lovely stay!
What a lovely place we found the Oratory to be. We booked it as a "dog friendly" option, and as it was located in Princetown "the heart of Dartmoor" we didn't have to walk too far to the lovely open spaces and the Dartmoor ponies! The owners had left lots of maps/guides of the area, along with books and a few board games should the weather be unfavourable. The annexe itself was well set out, with a dining table which could easily seat 4 people, settee, and (as we had requested the cooking equipment) was self-contained. The bed was the comfiest we have ever slept in, and the bathroom was lovely - underfloor heating was well-received as our stay was in December! All in all, a lovely stay!

Excellent priced spacious accommodation
We booked for 3 nights, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. They slept on a very good single and pull out mattress. The room was spacious even with 4 of us.
