The Plough Retreat - Self Catering Apartment
The family room is larger than our studios as it has an additional living room complete with dining table and sofa bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, hob and microwave.
The Plough Retreat offers a comfortable stay in a convenient village location just outside of Newark On Trent. Within a 5 minute drive you can be at Newark Showground, The National Civil War Centre or Newark Castle. If you’re visiting for a celebration, Kelham Hall and Stubton Hall are just 11 minutes away by car.
The Plough Retreat is an unmanned property and your unique access codes will be sent to you 24 hours in advance of your stay. Rest assured we are just a phone call away for any questions you have.
Our apartments have en-suite shower rooms to freshen up and kitchenettes to rustle something up. We have three types of rooms available, a double room, twin room and two deluxe rooms. The double and twin rooms have their own private shower rooms and kitchenettes and sleep up to two. The deluxe rooms sleep up to three people and have an additional lounge, sofa bed, full kitchen, dining table and chairs.

Great Value - Fantastic clean, spacious and comfortable accommodation
Simple, easy access/check-in with off-street parking on the premises. Accommodation was modern, neat, clean, spacious and comfortable with good facilities (Kettle,microwave, toaster, TV in lounge and bedroom, great hot shower). Lovely heated rooms were nice and cosy. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you, we really enjoyed our stay here.

Lovely accommodation
The apartment was clean modern, has everything you need easy to access great parking and had the best nights sleep and I suffer with back problems.
Thank you just a shame we didn’t get time to eat in the pub as I know the food is excellent.

Plenty of country walks.... but also near shopping
Lovely spot to stay, situatated conveiently very near the A1 and A46 for day trips.... but you dont get the motorway noise.... great stay... it can however get noisy with doors banging from the downstairs toilets belonging to the pub

Nice location, lots of parking, easy access and a very helpful contact (Daniel)
The self-contained flat was clean and had everything that we required
The only negative was the couch, which could do with some new seat cushions
The pub next door was popular, friendly and offered a nice pint as well as lovely food
On this occasion we were visiting family, and we will be returning to The Plough Retreat

It was fine. Just stayed on my own for 2 nights. went to my daughters nearby for mealss
Located near to my daughters in Carlton le Moorland. Just handy to visit her. The grouting in the shower needs attention and it would be useful to have a tray to put soap etc in. The inside rim of the toilet bowl needs cleaning. I was cold in the night really needed a thicker duvet

Disappointed, due to turning up at 9.30/10pm to find the apartment had not been cleaned or hot water
Close and convenient to Newark truck fest. The woman who came to give us clean bedding and towels at 10.30pm after contacting to say it had not been cleaned since previous guests.

Big lounge and bedroom but very basic, owner needs to spend 2 days there to improve poor aspects.
Big rooms but poorly fitted out. This could be great with a little attention to detail. Biggest down side - internal toilet has PIR light sensor set to about 5 seconds so take a torch with you.
