Curlew is a smart contemporary house in the Devon village of Bigbury-on-Sea.
Curlew is the ideal base to relax, unwind and explore the beautiful South Hams coast & countryside. With its fantastic views over the sea and famous Burgh Island, & only 200 yards from the magnificent beach, Curlew is the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely seaside break in Devon.
Entering at the upper level, a spacious hallway leads into the stunning open plan living room, dining room and kitchen. This beautifully designed room with high ceilings has panoramic views over the sea and Burgh Island through floor to ceiling glazed bi-folding balcony doors. The area includes a spacious and comfortable lounge and a modern eight person dining room table and chairs. There is a large and generously equipped kitchen with breakfast bar.
Stairs from the Hall lead down to four double bedrooms at the lower level. Two ‘super king’ sized doubles (one zip & link), both with en-suite shower rooms and with direct access to the garden and views to the sea. There is also one king size bedroom, a large twin bedroom and a family bathroom. An additional guest cloakroom is located on the ground floor.
Outside there is a good sized enclosed garden to relax in, including a large patio with barbecue, outdoor table and chairs. A six person hot tub is situated on a raised platform designed to enjoy the stunning views across Bigbury Bay.
Off street parking for three to four vehicles is available on the front paved area of the property.
Holidays in Bigbury on Sea
Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bigbury-on-Sea is renowned for its lovely child friendly beaches and refreshing coastal walks. With its golden sands, Bigbury on Sea has one of the best beaches in the South Hams, and is ideal for children and adults alike. There is plenty for water sports enthusiasts as well, including its’ very own surf school.
Walk across the sands at low tide to visit Burgh Island with its unique Art Deco Hotel favoured by Agatha Christie and Noel Coward or at high tide, ride across the water on the famous sea tractor. Climb to the top of the island for the riveting coastal views or just relax and enjoy a drink in the 14th Century Pilchard Inn.
Located astride the South West Coastal Path, enjoy exploring the delights of the numerous bays and headlands along this beautiful piece of coastline and visit some of the old Pub/Restaurants in the nearby villages along the way.
With Curlew as a base, visit the nearby charming harbour towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth or explore Dartmoor or the historic town of Totnes. Curlew is the destination for an unforgettable holiday.
