No heating and expensive electricity meter
This property could be lovely. Its in a nice location and is well presented. However. You have to pay for electricity by feeding a meter. We arrived at around 6pm to an extremely cold property, no power and £2 left for us to use. We topped this up by £10. Could not get the heaters to work despite following instructions. Didnt use cooker or tv. By 4am in the morning the power was off again so our money didnt go very far. We decided to go home as it was so cold. No hot water. Worked out it would have cost us a lot to keep feeding the meter - also there would be the problem of getting enough change- no local banks. We wanted a relaxing break but ended up bitterly cold and no facilities. I would imagine most people nowadays would expect to pay and have all the utilities included. Very disappointed.

Property near the coastal path - comfortable apart from the sofa bed which needs changing. Walking distance to Tintagel and quiet location

A marmite property!
An amazing location looking across the National Trust land to the sea (and the sunset) We had a few major issues when we arrived, some of which were rectified by David at Vay-Cays. The bed has an incredibly soft mattress - very uncomfortable. The "sofa" is a click-clack type sofabed - again, very uncomfortable either as a bed or a sofa. Luckily, we had beach chairs in the car which we used instead. The fridge is an old larder fridge - no freezer compartment, which was a pain. Masses of storage space - enough wardrobe space for about 10 people but to the detriment of any other shelving or surfaces to put things - particularly in the bathroom. The heating system is almost impossible to fathom and with no instruction booklet we either froze or boiled - same with the water heating system. It's such a shame - the location is so beautiful and with just a bit of money spent on it and some attention to detail, the property could be truly wonderful.
