Lack of water and communication

The water was shut off one of the days we were there. We were unable to shower or use the toilet. When we notified the host we got no response. Staff downstairs said they didn’t know why the water was shut off and pretended like it would be back on soon. It was not back on soon and took many hours. Other residents in the building said the water shut offs were common.

Great location and value

The apartment looks great, has plenty of space, good air conditioning, and is quiet. The star of this listing is the rooftop, which has a staffed bartender. We experienced a strong sewer smell from the small bathroom, but the host was very responsive and had maintenance attempt to remedy that. A few tips for travelers at this listing: - The host will provide a code and on-site concierge the day of check-in. Use WhatsApp for communication -- we had some confusion due to SMS text messages that were clipped off. - Use the sink stoppers to block the drains when not in use. With no P-traps, the kitchen sink can also be a source of foul odors. - The internet speed can be slow and spotty, so plan accordingly if its needed.

Just OK

The unit was nice, but more sparsely furnished than any VRBO I have stayed in, i.e, no sponge or dishrag, very few dishes, etc. The window coverings in the bedrooms were only mesh sunshades. Not even full curtains or blinds. It creates a problem for the light in the morning, but also privacy. There were ants in the kitchen (which can happen anywhere) which we reported twice. Had a fast reply but no one ever came with any traps to get rid of them. The 5th floor unit said ocean view - not even close. Patio overlooked an alley with the most uncomfortable bench to sit on. The pool area is nice but there are not nearly enough chairs. There are no chaise lounges. Only beds, mesh hammocks, really uncomfortable wooden chairs or the bar area. The building is a bit screwy requiring multiple elevators to get to pool or lobby. Location is good if you use the back door to avoid steep hills/stairs. The unit itself is good, I would stay here if you don't care about the patio and don't mind getting to the pool early for a spot during busy times.

Good location, building has some service challenges

Location is great - with entrances from the front to go to Olas Altas & towards the beach & the back to go to the bars, groceries, etc. The building is nice (2nd time I've stayed here), but unfortunately isn't run as well as you would hope. A primary reason I've rented in this building is the lap pool - to be able to swim 1st thing in the morning & then get on with my day. However, on 4 out of the 7 mornings, the pool was closed because they put chemicals in before it was supposed to open (at 8:00). This is at peak / high season & it's just unbelievable that the building closes the pool until noon rather than have someone put the chemicals in the night before at 10pm when it closes. The shower & sink drains often have sewer gas leaking up, causing a very unpleasant smell - not sure if this is structural for the whole building or just this unit. The unit itself lacks warmth/personal touches. It really has the bare minimum with nothing interesting to elevate the style or experience. Also - to be frank, the unit is in an odd location & kind of hard to get to - located in what's essentially a back building attached to the parking garage & storage units, there's not much of a view. More accurate pictures of the unit (rather than the common areas) would have helped adjust our expectations. I may rent in the building again (if I can get confirmation that they're running the pool better),but I'd probably try for something with a better view & not tucked away in the back bldg
