About this property

Pelshaven Cottage A Peaceful Getaway

About the Property

Perched on the border of England and Scotland, Pelshaven Cottage is a recently refurbished two bedroom home set in the peaceful village of Cornhill on Tweed. Ideal for families, couples, and those seeking a quiet rural break, the cottage combines modern comfort with a relaxed countryside setting.

Surrounded by open scenery and within easy reach of both the Scottish Borders and Northumberland, it offers the flexibility to enjoy active days out or simply slow down and unwind.

Living Space and Bedrooms

The cottage has a bright and comfortable open lounge and dining area, complete with a log burner for cosy evenings in. Soft furnishings and thoughtful styling create a welcoming space to relax after a day exploring.

There are two well proportioned bedrooms. The master bedroom features a double bed, television, and en suite shower room. The second bedroom offers two single beds and its own television, making it ideal for children or friends sharing.

The main bathroom includes both a bath and shower.

The property is child and dog friendly, making it a practical choice for family stays.

Kitchen and Dining

The newly fitted kitchen is modern, well equipped, and designed for ease of use. Patio doors open directly onto the landscaped garden, creating a natural flow between indoor and outdoor space during warmer months.

Outside, guests can enjoy a generous garden with outdoor seating and a swing seat, providing a peaceful setting for morning coffee or relaxed evenings.

Location

Cornhill on Tweed is a quiet and welcoming village with a local shop and a hotel offering a bar and restaurant. Nearby Coldstream provides additional amenities including supermarkets, takeaways, a petrol station, and the Guards Museum.

The surrounding countryside offers excellent walking and cycling routes, with the Cheviots, Northumberland National Park, and Kielder Forest all within reach. The River Tweed is well known for salmon fishing, and there are golf courses nearby in Coldstream and Kelso.

For history lovers, Berwick upon Tweed is just fifteen minutes away, while Etal Castle, Floors Castle, and Alnwick Castle are all popular day trips. Holy Island of Lindisfarne can also be visited via the tidal causeway, with careful planning around tide times.

Edinburgh is approximately forty five minutes by car, and Newcastle around one hour, making day trips to either city straightforward.

Cottage immaculate and very comfortable.

Great 4 day stay at Pelshaven. The cottage was immaculate, comfy and cozy. Good location with a fabulous village shop and a great hotel bar/ restaurant just around the corner. Would definitely recommend.

Weekend away

Reason for down grading on line listing is that I had to put in that 3 people were staying to get 2 bedrooms. We have often stayed in the area and enjoy it. We came into the area for a Christian weekend conference. It was very convenient for the place it was held. However we would have expected there to be a cafeteria, proper teapot , milk jug and sharp bread knife. We realise we are 2 elderly ladies and that younger people probably do not require these items. Arm chairs were low for our requirements but in goo condition. We did have the dining chairs. We enjoyed the outside area on our first evening in the warm sunshine.

If only housekeeping had checked....

We were left without....tea towels, kitchen towel or paper towels, dish cloth, no newspapers or kindling to light the wood burning stove.... disappointing in light of the dip in temperatures whilst we were there. There were no hand towels for the bathrooms and there was only a teeny amount of soap in the dispenser. We tried to heat up a ready meal....no casserole dish.

Fabulous little cottage!!

We stayed at Pelhaven cottage for a week in October and enjoyed it very much. Spotlessly clean, very well appointed and really cosy. Particularly enjoyed the log burner a real focal point and the underfloor heating in the bathroom!! Also great communication with Stuart and a lovely welcome pack when we arrived. Although Cornhill is tiny it has a really amazing family run store, their home baking is to die for and I would highly recommend that you support it when you stay. Great Indian restaurant in Coldstream and the Beson Inn was good too. Plenty of places to go so makes a good base we particularly enjoyed Melrose, Kelso and St Abbs. Would definitely recommend and would be very happy to return.
