I rented this place to meet my husbands family for the first time and it was awesome! Such a beautiful house and everyone associated with the property ( owner, to house keeper to pool guy) we’re great. Loved the views and the pool was a life saver! One day, we will go back
Everything was great, we had a great time and Anne-Laure was a great host. The property is really nice, the kitchen is a bit outdated, but it was equipped with everything we needed to cook and have great meals. The common areas were perfect to hang out. All the common areas are open in the air which is great because the wind help with the heat. but we had a really windy night that made it very difficult to stay outside. The pool was great. We rented a car and there are several towns beaches at short driving distance.
Thank you Anne-Laure we had a great time! :)

Dear David,
We very much appreciated you took time to write some comments. We are very pleased that you had a great time with your friends and enjoyed the property and the surroundings.
We hope to see you again in the future, all the best!
Thank youy David!
Excellent property that we found as a group of 5 after our original hotel overbooked…and I’m so glad we did. Ana-Laura went above and beyond as a communicative, proactive hostess who did everything she could to help us with our stay from assisting us to order a pizza to giving us a reliable taxi number. The gardener and cleaning lady were thorough as well. The house itself has stunning 270 degree views of the nearby lighthouse, ocean, and Zipolite from some terraces. Although the quality of views differs, the rooms we found to largely be of similar quality - trade off for better views was weaker water pressure in the showers. Superb indoor-outdoor living with lots of places to eat & sit; we barely used the pool because we love the beach but it was so refreshing when we did. Hammocks galore. It IS still a beach house in Oaxaca: it is a little weather-worn, there will be bugs, everywhere in Zipolite uses septic, the kitchen is well-equipped but basic, but it was reasonably priced for the busiest week of the year and we are already planning our return trip! One more word on the location: your trade-off for quiet, sweeping views is this is at least a 15 min hilly walk to Playa del Amor / restaurants / stores, and a car or scooter is recommended. We found it great for our group and away from the noise of Zipolite (although you will hear dogs and roosters!). Overall an excellent house.
Four senior couples from Canada stayed at VillaMikanos for 8 days.
Pros:
A beautiful house with ample space for eating together and lounging around the pool. We really appreciated the very large ensuite bathrooms in every room, as well as one in the main area. Great pool. Stunning views of whales, sunrises, and sunsets!
Cons:
The surrounding neighborhood has a number of derelict buildings and has a run down feeling.
On arrival, the pool was full of green slime. However, it was cleaned by the next day.
The kitchen is very outdated, small and in disrepair. It is quite grimy and there are ants everywhere. Microwave not functioning properly. The fridge shelf fell off and broke when the door was opened. Although the fridge is old, the owner expected we would pay for the entire cost of a new shelf. We settled for paying 50%.
We had arranged with Ana-Laura to have some dinners prepared for us by a local couple. The arrangement was that we would pay them 700 pesos plus costs for groceries. Unfortunately they would never give us receipts and grossly overcharged us… the groceries would have cost less than ⅓ what they asked for. Ana-Laura didn’t seem to care or attempt to make amends.
There was no hot water in two of the four bathrooms during the whole length of our stay as one of the two propane tanks was empty. So half of our group never had hot water.
The pillows were very uncomfortable. This accommodation is in great need of updating and thorough cleaning. One expects a certain level when paying such a high price per night.

We were very happy to host Betty and all her group at Villa Mykonos and we appreciate the comments and feedback.
We would like to comment on a few things.
As per ants in the kitchen, it is very rare that we have ants. Nevertheless, as the whole Villa is surrounded by nature, we have to be careful not to left food out, dishes unwashed in the sink and keep the kitchen clean.
The fridge shell fell off and broke after a bottle was taken out from the shell. So, we settled for paying 50%.
As per the dinners, we were asked prior to the arrival if it was possible to have some dinners prepared for the group. We do not have that service at the Villa so we took some time to find a cook. In those cases, we do not interfere, we give our guests his (her) contact number and they agree with him (her) directly. We are sorry that there were some inconveniences and may be a mis communication between the group and the cook.
As per no hot water in two of the four bathrooms during the whole length of the group stays. As soon as it was reported to us there was no hot water, we checked it and we realized the propane tank was empty, it was changed within 4 hours and the problem was fixed.
We are in constant communication with our guests for anything they might need during their stay.
Villa Mykonos was a wonderful, peaceful oasis for our group to relax while enjoying a very busy time in the Zipolite area. This is definitely a home, not a resort, and has the charm to match it. There are amazing features like indoor/outdoor living (all the living areas are outdoors), a large enough kitchen and dining area for our group of 7 to have meals together, a wonderful pool that has a view of the ocean and spacious individual rooms/bathrooms to wind down and sleep. The architecture is stunning, with everything seemed to have been built in and purposeful. It comes with some quirks that homes have, but felt like it had been taken care of and cared for significantly throughout its 30 year life. The best part is Ana Laura, the host. She was a wealth of knowledge about the area, how to get to Zipolite, where to eat, taxis, etc. She also welcomed us into her home with open arms and made us feel so welcome. My entire group loved the stay and can't wait to go back. There are two folks who might want to stay elsewhere: those looking for the benefits of a full-service resort, and those who want to be steps away from Zipolite (it's a 20-30 minute walk). But everyone else, make sure to keep this one on your list!
