About this property

SNUG 30ft NARROWBOAT WITH INDOOR FIREPLACE

If you fancy a staycation that offers something a little different, then you'll love this unique and romantic escape nestled among nature.

There are a number of walking trails around to lead you off into the beautiful surroundings, whether it be by foot, cycle, car or kayak. Otherwise some of Scotland's top national parks, historic monuments, golf courses, distilleries and restaurants are a short distance away. And the centre of Glasgow sits less than 7 miles away with regular bus services.

The whole of the boat is available for guests to enjoy as well as the jetty at the side and front of the boat.

Feel free to crank the bbq at the water's edge and sit back and relax. The bow and roof also make for great dinning and relaxation areas out in the sunshine. If you’d rather be snuggled up inside, then the Victorian wood burner turns Primrose into a cosy wee haven. There is a smart TV with a number of apps, such as Netflix, Amazon, I-players, YouTube, etc and board games to pass the time by, so pull out the sofa bed and get even more comfortable.

Guests have full access to the boat, jetty and free car park.

The surrounding towns and villages have ample amenities to offer from cafes, bakeries, restaurants, shops, etc. But if you don't want to stray too far, then the local retail park is only a 10 minutes walk from Primrose.

The boat is 23 minutes by car from Glasgow Airport or 46 minutes from Edinburgh Airport. 17 minutes from Glasgow Central Station by car or 1 hour and 6 minutes from Edinburgh Waverley Station. Glasgow City Centre is less than 7 miles away and can be reached via bus. There are regular bus services that can take you into the heart of Scotland.

Please note that this is a static stay.

Due to the design of a narrowboat, Primrose is narrow at the stern and so, the berth is slightly smaller than a double, as it narrows on one end. But, there is also a standard double pull out sofa if guests feel a little too snug.
The shower room is narrow at 53.5cm wide and 175cm high. Taller guests will have to bend a little whilst using the shower.

Because the boat is snug it can only accommodate up to 2 adults. It cannot accomodate 4 adults.

Bucket list stay
From the booking process to leaving, this stay was an absolute pleasure. I wanted to book a peaceful stay away for my husband's birthday, with our two young boys (1 and 5 years old) and this didn't disappoint. Surrounded by the calm, quiet and serene canals of Glasgow, with nature in abundance, this stay was blissful. The Sileby Primrose itself is small but perfectly formed; with all the amenities you could possibly need for a short break away. On top of that, Hailey was the perfect host - all communication was speedy, thorough and helpful; the boat was spotless when we arrived; Hailey had even left us a bottle of prosecco and a little sign saying Happy Birthday for my husband! I would love to return with just the husband in the middle of summer, to make the most of the BBQ...it would make the perfect romantic getaway. I can't recommend more highly!

Bucket List
Always wanted to stay on a canal boat. This one has been lovingly restored by the owner. Quirky inside, small but compact. Everything I needed to know was explained in an easy to understand way. So glad I experienced this.

Much required short break
My husband and I and our little dog Otis had a lovely relaxing weekend trip onboard Primrose - the owners have thought of everything in this very cleverly put together ‘tiny house’. The walks along the canal were wonderful and we made full use of the dog friendly pub 30 minutes walk away - food and drink options were great. Being able to walk to the shops about 15 minutes away was also very handy. We enjoyed the fire at night which heated the one room up very quickly - very cosy and warm. Internet connection was good so watching Netflix etc was no bother. A very chilled relaxed weekend was had by all 😊😊Well done to Hayley and Emma and thank you for the excellent service!

Lovely little boat
Having never stayed on a houseboat this was quite an experience. A good experience. Primrose the boat is beautiful. Quirky & quaint. All the fittings are handmade and are really good quality. The boat is a little secluded but close enough to all shops and amenities. We really enjoyed our stay. Primrose was comfortable and a great base for traveling around. The tow path is busy with walkers and bike riders who are very friendly. Had a lovely bbq on the jetty. Hayley met us on arrival and was just a call away if we had any questions. The boat is a little small if you are a larger person but is a great novelty experience. A great weekend on a beautiful little boat. My granddaughter is keen to return.

Back in 2019, after living in Australia for 6 and a half years as a commercial photographer and chef, Emma & I wanted a new creative challenge. After staying in a tiny home out in Victoria, we found ourselves on a new adventure. We decided to return back to the UK in February 2020 where we could start this new journey. And then.... the pandemic hit. Not deterred, we looked for potential land and space where we could build tiny homes. But, It wasn’t to be and so.... Basically, in a “steel shell”, we bought a 30ft narrow boat down in Norfolk at the end of June 2020 and popped her on the back of a lorry all the way up to bonnie Bo'ness, Scotland. We decided to revamp this amazing space inch by inch and a year later Primrose proudly sits on the beautiful Scottish Waterways for guests to enjoy.
