Set in the beautiful rural location of Maughold.

Perfect for a couple's getaway, Elgin Retreat offers single level guest accommodation located in the heart of Maughold on the north east side of the Island, just 5 minutes outside Ramsey, where a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants can be found.

Local to Elgin Retreat, you can explore the country lanes and two beautiful beaches on foot, the perfect way to take in this part of the island. There is also The Venture Centre just up the road, an outdoor activity centre offering many activities including kayaking, archery and coasteering. If you prefer to stick around there's still plenty to do - guests can enjoy use of an outdoor firepit, BBQ area, small bar area, sun terrace and the outdoor sauna.

A couple of minutes walk away is a stop on the Manx Electric Railway which you can take into the town of Ramsey, or head down the coast to Laxey and Douglas. You can also hop aboard the Snaefell Mountain Railway from Laxey and experience the Isle of Man from its tallest peak!

Elgin Retreat consists of one bedroom which can be made up as a super king or two singles, as well as a large lounge with a sofa bed, giving you full flexibility to enjoy your stay. There's also a bathroom and a kitchenette which also has a fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine, kettle and toaster. There is no oven or hob provided.

Plenty of off-road parking, private patio, woodland garden, use of two other patio areas and a large lawn for you to explore and enjoy.

Amazing Stay!

We came to Elgin Retreat for our mini moon and we couldn’t have picked a better place, so much attention to detail which really made the stay feel special (The best scones and everything we could’ve needed in the kitchen!) We will definitely be visiting again in the future!

Second Stay At Elgin Retreat

After staying at Elgin last year we were so impressed we ventured back a year later to celebrate a special anniversary. We have fallen in love with the place and it is a real treat for us to be able to go up and spend some time here and enjoy the north of the island. I am sure we will be back to experience this very special location.

Excellent Elgin

The owners of this delightful property are warm, kind and generous. They ensured that a welcome pack including delicious fresh scones, cream, jam and strawberries, meant that the stay was extra special. The hot tub and sauna are set amongst fairy lights overlooking the beautiful garden and the owners are on hand if you need them but allow total privacy if you don’t. A really wonderful stay in this beautiful retreat.

A wonderful stay in a gorgeous place

A lovely experience from arrival to departure. Lara and Adrian (hosts) were above and beyond, Elgin Retreat is an absolute pleasure with every detail thought out and accommodated. The hot tub was such a treat too. I really hope that we will stay there again.

Wonderful mini break

The homemade scones and goodies in the fridge were a real treat. The accommodation is to an excellent standard, really homely and to light the log burner and use the hot tub after all the wonderful walks right on the doorstep of the Retreat was wonderful. We will be back!!

Short stay at elgin retreat

Arrived late but received a warm welcome, fresh baked scones with cream , jam and strawberries were delicious also essentials were in the cupboards and fridge . Bungalow was warm comfortable and peaceful, altogether our 4 days didn't seem long enough we hope to return one day with better weather. We bumped into our hosts a couple of times who were always friendly and checking everything was OK

Lovely stay

Had a great time at Elgin Retreat, what a beautiful house with everything you need, down to fruits, snacks, teas, coffees and even homemade scones. The hosts were very nice and attentive too. The hot tub was an excellent feature. Would definitely go back again and highly recommend it. :)

A perfect, tranquil retreat.

This was the best staycation we have been on in the IOM. Fab location so many extras provided by the owners. Beautifully decorated even a Christmas tree! Fully stocked kitchen for cooking and lovely log fire.We availed of the hot tub and sauna, great extra facilities. Setting is lovely, close walks to two lovely beaches. Hosts couldn’t be nicer and so helpful! Looking forward to rebooking in the new year!

Perfect Hideaway

Second visit and weather was again indifferent. However this doesn’t matter as this lovely property caters for all conditions. You simply have to unwind and adjust - very easy here in this escape to paradise - a real treat to relax and enjoy - highly recommend.

Adrian & Lara were very courteous and helpful. We often have staycations but with Elgin retreat it’s the little extras that are appreciated. Home made birthday cake, banners. Fresh fruit in the fridge. We had some lovely walks, made use of the tram stop around the corner and a couple of soaks in the hot tub. Highly recommend the place

Elgin Retreat - Pure Tranquillity

We arrived at Elgin Retreat for a short get a way for a birthday. On arrival we were blown away at how beautiful the property was and the surrounding area. From the beautiful stunning gardens to the hot tub and sauna. Not to forget the Elgin bar !! Lara and Adrian made the weekend personal with a warm welcome and homemade scones. All the little touches made the weekend special, from dry robes to snacks. It was a magical weekend that we enjoyed. Family have also booked to come in August and we will be booking again :-) Highly recommend this retreat. xx

An amazing stay at Elgin retreat.

Our stay was simply amazing here, the owners made us feel so welcome and relaxed and are amazing hosts. The house was so tidy and made us feel it was home from home, it has everything you need to have a comfortable stay a huge range of dvds, board games, a cosy fire for the night time, very comfortable bedding, all the essential kitchen equipment which made a huge difference for us. The location was fabulous in such a quiet location with great scenery. Although we didn’t use the sauna as we was busy with the TT week we did use the hot tub which was lovely to wake up to. Nothing was to much for Lara and Adrian and we really appreciate your kindness and a warm welcoming. We cannot wait to come back again in 2026 xx

A fantastic second week to our stay on the Isle of Man

The facilities, location and hospitality of the hosts made our stay at Elgin Retreat the perfect second week to our holiday. As part of a two station break, staying near Ramsey enabled us to explore the northern end of the island. Advice, tips and suggestions of places to visit by the owners of Elgin Retreat fully met our interests, and were much appreciated, without which we would have struggled to discover many local attractions especially in respect of the islands natural history. Their dedication to ensuring we had such a lovely time went beyond our expectations. Thankyou so much.

First Trip to the Isle of Man.

This was our first visit to the Isle of Man and we will definitely be back! Lara and Adrian are the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble to ensure we had every comfort and convenience at our disposal. The accommodation is first class and we loved having the use of a hot tub and barbecue and also the little extra touches like the little fairy tree houses! It's a magical special place and also convenient for the beach and jumping on the Manx railway. The welcome groceries (and fabulous home made scones) were also much appreciated. Our April Wedding @ Elgin Retreat

When we initially contacted Lara and Adrian to enquire as to whether we could hold our wedding at Elgin Retreat, they were so pleased and very honoured that we had chosen their little sanctuary for our special day. They could not have been more helpful or accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. We only wanted a small, minimal and private event and Lara and Adrian made our wishes come true. Even though they didn’t admit it, I know how hard they both worked to make the place look fabulous and the little touches they both put in just made everything so much more special. The location and setting are magical and we had our ceremony right by the stream with the birds and bees alongside us. I know that Lara and Adrian would be thrilled to welcome more couples who are interested in getting married at Elgin Retreat and I would thoroughly recommend you choose this spot! You won’t regret it! We can’t wait to return. Ps Lara is also an incredible baker xx

Was a really lovely place to spend a couple of days. We were very impressed with the location, spaciousness and privacy afforded with the accommodation. In general we felt our hosts delivered with product well. My only constructive criticism I can offer is that there are a couple of minor details that could be tweaked. For instance, the toilet flush seemed it was in need of a service (that one needed to press it multiple times to get it to work might be difficult for more senior guests). Second, the guest guidance notes needed to be updated to reflect the wifi changes that had been made. These are minor things, but if such things were nailed it would really have been a flawless experience. We will definitely be looking to return sometime in the future (as much for the scones as the staycation)!. Thanks again Markus

Elgin Retreat

Without doubt this is the bests elf catering establishment we have stayed in. The owners were very welcoming and helpful, and provided nice extra touches like scones and jam and cream, milk, cheese etc. the facilities on site were also very good and the location peaceful. This is to ne highly recommended and we will certainly return next year for a staycation. ]
